  1. Hello chaps. Thank you both for the information. I will take a look at the Land Warfare museum to see what that yields. Your comments regarding taking a look at photo's is a great idea & something that hadn't even crossed my mind. I shall let you both know how I get on, & i may even post some photo's of my efforts when I eventually get to the point where I need to fabricate the bits that I shall need. Thanks again.
  2. Hi my fellow modelling brethren. Just a couple of quick questions that I am hoping someone can help me with. I'm not sure if this is the section to ask but as my questions relate to scratch building equipment, I think they should qualify. Does anyone know where I can get the measurements for WW2 equipment such as vehicle tarps, webbing & it's component parts ammo pouches etc, & that sort of stuff in general? I am wanting to scratch build this sort of stuff for my 1/35th scale WW2 models, but I want them to be the correct size in that scale. Any pointers, links web sites etc would be very helpful. Thanks for any help in advance.
  3. Hi all. Can anyone of you most knowledgeable people tell me what colour to paint weapons damage on my Panther Ausf.A please? I am talking about a gouge in the glacis plate where a round has hit & been deflected leaving an elongated scar, circular dents where rounds have hit square on but not penetrated (on the glacis & turret) & machine gun damage on the schirtzen. Some pictures would be most helpful, or a point in the right direction so I can take a look on the interweb. I don't know whether to do them a darkish steel colour, dark rust or pink with blue spots, so I am pleading for some good advice please.
  4. Hi all, this will probably seem like a really dumb question, but I am pleading ignorance here & need some help, although I have already received some great advice on the Tools section under Paints, but was advised to re-post my question on here. I have just completed a Dragon 1/35 Panther Ausf.A, & it has been painted in a mix of mainly Vallejo, but with some AK acrylics. The trouble is, I really don't know if I can use enamel or oils for weathering purposes, or whether it has to be acrylic or water based. The same also goes for the gloss & matt varnishes. I have heard various bits & pieces, some saying that if I use Klear as the gloss coat prior to decals & any washes, that enamel & or oils are ok to use, others that have said that I am ok to use Humbrol gloss & matt cote products over acrylics & then are safe to use enamel & oils for weathering & others that say that if I have used water based acrylics then I have to use the same for varnishing & weathering. I am currently in possession of some Vallejo gloss & matt acrylic varnishes & also some Windsor & Newton acrylic gloss varnish too. Although I would prefer to use Mig washes etc. I was also gifted some Humbrol enamel washes & effects & also their matt cote, but I am really not sure as to what I can & cant use over my paint job. I really don't want to ruin the hours of work that I have put into this project, so I am pleading for some sound advice from people way more experienced than I am. I really look forward to any comments & help that anyone can give me. Thanks.
  5. Ignore that lol! I've just sussed out you mean to post it in the work in progress thread doh!
  6. Sorry Phil, you'll have to excuse me I'm a newbie to this, how do I do that?
  7. Brilliant information guys, thank you so much for your help. The build is complete, a Dragon 1/35 Panther Ausf.A, & all paint has been completed with the acrylics that I mentioned, so ready for the first gloss varnish for the washes & effects. I would prefer to use the Mig washes etc. but unfortunately can only get on mail order, & as I was gifted the Humbrol washes & dust effects etc I was looking at using them first. Thanks for the tip on being careful with the DIY white spirit, I will steer clear of those. I will let you know how I get on.
  8. Thanks Dan & Andy, your advice is much appreciated. Am I ok to use Humbrol enamel weathering effects etc? Thanks Dan & Andy, your advice is much appreciated. Am I ok to use Humbrol enamel weathering effects etc?
