1/48 Tamiya F-16C Viper - RSAF 143 Squadron
Iceman11 replied to madcat911's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Great work! I really like all the small details in your build, especially the sensor on the canopy for the Scorpion (?) helmet mounted sight. Yes, it`s a bit weathered, but it`s your take on the RSAF F-16C. I call it outstanding work!! A bit jealous of your skills! On my way to Singapore on Friday, by the way! Check Six and build something! John -

Excellent choice and thread. One cannot go wrong with a RNoAF aircraft (although it wasn`t named RNoAF at that time)!! Will follow with great interest and keep em coming! Check Six and build something!- 55 replies

Eduard Bf 109 G-10 Mtt 13/JG27. The last of the trio.
Iceman11 replied to Zigomar's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Fantastic - just fantastic! And a bit jealous...But I will try building my JG.5 Bf 109s with this finish as a goal. -
Just beautiful - and lots of resin!! But isn`t the nosewheel in the wrong position? Shouldn`t it be in the rear of the nosewheel well?

Another great build of the Sukhoi family - fantastic work! Really sharp photography too! And no - here we just look at plastic, no matter where the aircraft comes from All these nice Sukhoi`s in 1/48 makes me tempted to build one, even though RNoAF is my thing.... Keep`em coming!

GWH 1/48 Su-27 "Flanker B" heavy fighter building record
Iceman11 replied to haneto's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Truely amazed and just have to "chime in" with the rest - truely a masterpiece! And very inspirational for the rest of us. I`ve seen a couple of them in close proximity - and the SU-27 is HUGE! Fantastic photography and presentation as well!! What`s next from you? -
Yes, that`s the correct wheels for the MLU`s. Keep the pictures coming!! Wonderful stuff - when my new house is done in May (with my mancave) I will get back to modelling again! Cannot wait - maybe a Hasegawa NSAWC F-16A or B will be first up, thanks to your inspirational build! Or a F-16N.... or a RNoAF F-16A... or.... Cheers, John

Gorgeous Harrier! Very nice finish/ paint job. You also get bonus points for the ladder being deployed when the cockpit hood is open I sat in the cockpit in one of these when I was 8 years and immidieately decided to become a pilot! No.1 sqd came almost every March to Tromsoe for participating in Alloy/ Anorak/ Artic (your choice) Express series of NATO excersises and after bugging the ground crew for a couple of days they let me sit in. Even got the VTOL patch..... Here I am - 3 months from retirement after 35 years of flying and with 250+ 1/48 kits unbuilt. Ahhh...... Happy New Year to All! John

Fantastic work on a challenging kit. Especially like the finish/ paint job - top notch! Will use a Hase or Tamiya as base for mine! Happy New Year! John -

What an inspirational build! Really impressed with how you`ve overcome the good old Hasegawa kit and made it shine! I remember when this kit came out in the early 80`s - fantastic for it`s time! I`ve built more than 15 so far and still have a few among all my Tamiya ones! Most of us would go along with the Tamyia F-16C Block 25/ 32 and use upgrade sets - but not you! The scratchbuilt bomb-carrier is a beauty on it`s own! Since you`re getting close to completing this gem, I would like to suggest some peculiar mods to the late versions of the F-16 before you finish up. The MLU`s have some RAM (radar absorbing material) panels placed around the airframe. These panels are covered by Astra (by Daco) set # 4822. However that set does not cover the RAM on the end of the parabrake housing. Use som filler or thick paint for that. It is also possible to do these panels with plastic card and some riveting. Plenty of phots on the net for these. I also belive that the wheels you`ve chosen are incorrect for the RNethAF MLU - it seems that the wheels you have on are for the Block 40. MLU wheels are represented by ResKit 48-0024. If I`m wrong on this - I hereby consider myself corrected!! These observations are not meant to "piddle on your parade" - continue and get her done! It will be a stunner!!! Happy New Year and Happy Modelling! John

Hi! If the Israeli does decide to go along with the drag-chute, they will need to strengthen the main spar. In my humble opinion this cannot be reversed, so that Israeli F-35 with drag-chute will have to be new built. Someone - please come up with one in 1/48! Check six!
-
AAhhh - that`s nice! Wonderful magic there mate! Looks like the real a/c - and in 1/72!!! What happened to pics of 293???
-
Yep, exdraken - if you like playing capt. Hindsight But from the experience of F-16 ops, just the savings on tires and brakes validated the brake chute. RNethAF followed up with the same reasons, as did Indonesia and Venezuela. All the RNoAF F-35 mainspars are strengthened before entering the production line.
-
Agreed! Would like a few in 1/48. But I think it`s a long shot. There has been a few problems with it on the F-35 as well. So the RNoAF has discovered that the F-35 handles quite well without the brake chute in winter conditions. The benefit could be less brake/ tire wear (as on the F-16) and a safety margin, but with the added weight and drag (almost no drag). The main spar of the F-35 has to be strengthened to install the brake chute on the F-35.

That is the best Mossie I´ve seen - and its Norwegian!!! Will do mine in the camo scheme, with Vingtor`s decals. Rather sad that the build tread has ended - it`s been a pleasure and something to look forward to. Right now looking for AMS slipper tanks...... sold out it seems. Cheers John

SAAB AJS37 Viggen, 1/48th scale Tarangus
Iceman11 replied to Aigore's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
It`s so cool to see your models. Fantastic work on this kit, especially the camo scheme. Just one question: did the AJ/ AJS fly with AIM-9s on the outboard pylons? Heard that this was due to flutter problems - anyone? Think they used the belly pylons for AIM-9 for BFM training, due to this. I did the SH-37 with a full CMK update, but I think I need to mottle the camo more. Also kind of surprised that the wheels from ResKit did not fit with the undercarridge legs of the Special Hobby kit. I needed to make the pins myself, which I find disappointing. Need to find the mojo to finish this kit! Keep em coming Aigore! -
