  1. Superb! The perfect thing for any Mirage fan (and who isn’t!), Thierry.
  2. I managed to get a little done today, including my first foray in to the use of acrylics :). It is still piano, piano for me and I have to admit to getting a wobble at the last moment which resulted in an overall Humbrol 27002 enamel coat. However, I gave myself a good talking to, put my big boy's pants on and went for the Vallejo for the White Aluminium on the nose areas after giving the Metalcote a good buffing. I followed this with some masking in readiness for the addition of Vallejo Chrome on the speed brakes, the leading Edge wing root cover and the cannon surround. I have also masked the wing and tailplane tips ready for a white undercoat followed by some Insignia Red. Before that red comes, though, I will need to mask the tail area. I will also mask more and get the remainder of the intake ring and the jet pipe surround painted wih Vallejo Duraluminium. Most of that should come on Friday, fingers crossed! Ah, and the area behind the seat needs a coat of paint too! The final paint to go on should then be the anti-glare panel ahead of the windscreen. One other possibility might be the squadron band for the nose. The decal for this is straight but it needs to go around a complex curved nose :(. I suspect I will need to paint that too - yellow and red. Martin
  3. I've come to a slight halt in the plan. The Insignia blue of the decal lettering and numbers was clearly too light and "purple" after I applied a couple. So, and all credit to Mika at Arctic for his quick response, I have to wait for a reprint to arrive from Finland. Everything else is on: So, I am getting on with my F-84 STGB entry instead! Martin
  4. So, back to the kit ..... is it still being released this year? And will the first be the fillet-less fin version?
  5. Its easy, mate. If you use Flickr you simply copy the URL of the image and paste it in to your post. I keep my model related images in an album and then use the URL of the image from that.
  6. As I recall this was the same for countries like Belgium, The Netherlands, etc. After all they are/were not nuclear countries. I remember wandering around Kleine Brogel during the 1985 Tiger Meet air show and being stopped my US personnel at the “sensitive” area around the back. It was clearly special weapons activities.
  7. Nicely built, Reini.
  8. @TEMPESTMK5 @Wings unlevel Good morning, Rando. My apologies, I didn’t that there was two of you wanting to join the party! Everything I said to Andres equally applies to you, of course! Come along and enjoy :). Martin
  9. A very quick update but I have no photos. She is now Glosscoted and ready for decals. I should start that on Monday unless life lobs me any googlies!
  10. Good morning Andres! It is never too late! . As Mark has described, you can join with a partly started build provided that it isn’t more than 25% complete. That is a bit subjective so just ask us. Otherwise get going as soon as you like. Also, remember it is about the journey and not necessarily getting completed by the end of the STGB. Ideally we would like to see completed models but life doesn’t always allow for that. All that is understood :). So, welcome! It is a pleasure to see you joining up! Martin
  11. Proving the old adage, “if it looks right, etc, etc .......”
  12. A shame but a wise decision, Stu. Likewise I have scaled back my ambitions and probably only start the Dutch by the end of the STGB, after the Greek is done. The straight wing will have to wait :(. Too much to do, too little time
  13. I will look forward to seeing that :). I reckon it is a great AM opportunity given that the F-84F/RF-84F needed it if it was to carry any useful load
  14. Thanks Mike. Sadly I know little about the straight wing F-84. You are are ahead of me with your thoughts
  15. I’m with you, Dennis, but I think that there are a lot that are sitting there, poised to be finished and posted in the Gallery. This STGB covers such a significant type that clearly we all understand. I am sure it will all come good. Of course, I must include myself in that I have a SH ready for paint but she has been sitting on the shelf :). She will get a blast or two in the coming week and I can progress her towards the finish line. What I won’t get done, sadly, is my second SH or my ANG Thunderjet ;(. I just don’t have the time. Martin
  16. Nice NMF, Martin. Are you planning chrome steel on the cannon surround? Also the LE wing roots had a “chrome” panel. Another thing I have picked up is that the lower 30%(ish) of the inner pylons was a darker NMF. I also plan to give the panel on each side of the nose, below the cannon ports, a blast of white aluminium or something similar.
  17. I look forward to seeing those brakes being installed, Martin
  18. Thanks mate. Yes, Giorgio got me on to Vallejo and says the same. I just get nervous applying something unknown, or poorly practiced, on to a model I have spent weeks or months building. Maybe I get too focussed - a comment on my potential autistic traits :(.
  19. Me too, @drake122 having just bought an AMK Kfir C2 1/72 :). She will be FAE too!
  20. Lots to think about. I do tend to like aircraft in used/operational finishes. My practicing with the Vallejo metals on grey seem to work.i might try a gloss black sometime, though ;). Thanks mate.
