  1. You could put the 1/48 Sea Fury in February, that's basically new tool for 2018.
  2. So the plan is to make a metal replica panel for the whole kit? Wow, thinking about that amount of work hurts my head. Good luck.
  3. Hi there. Thanks for the comment. I know the feeling when life stalls things. I used a dark Flory Wash for the panel lines. I've tried a pin wash before which was really frustrating as I could never get it to look right, probably because I hand paint so the panel lines aren't very crisp. The Flory wash was really easy to use once I had got the hang of it. I will definitely be using it again. chilling
  4. Hi there, here is my first ever group build entry. Kit: Tamiya 1/48 Dewoitine D.520.
  5. I finished this off over the weekend. I enjoyed the build, the fit of the kit was excellent and the build was straight forward apart from the original decals, or should I say flakes! The panel line wash was a new thing for me which I think came out pretty well considering. I've not really tried to do exhaust and gun weathering either, but I'm pleased with the results of this also. Quite the most colourful thing I've made so far. Here's a picture, I'll put some up in the gallery. chilling
  6. Managed to get some more done on this one. Been a bit hectic at home so its taken a bit of a back seat recently. Anyway, decals went on. The originals were a real struggle, the long arrows were both in at least 3 parts and the thin belly stripe came off in 7! It isn't in the right place but once I'd finally got all the pieces lined up I wasn't about to try moving it. And then something new, a panel line wash. Didn't come out too bad Next to do is to attach final parts before some wear and tear.
  7. Looking really nice so far. The shading on the interior of the cockpit looks really crisp. What did you use / how did you do that?
  8. Hi Arniec Just a word of warning, I was doing some decaling last night mixing up my new decals and the out of the box ones. The out of the box ones have deteriorated very much over time. The tricolour belly stripe for white 6 came off in 7 pieces which caused a number of curses and a fair amount of fiddling to get it into some sort of shape. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I did find using warm water to release them from the backing made things a bit easier, but the are very fragile. Hopefully I'll get the rest of them on my model in some shape or form this evening. Cheers.
  9. Hi Stew. Yes my plan is to do White 6 from the supplied decals. I'll see how this goes though as the instrument panel decal was pretty ropey when I used it and it fell into a few bits. I'll be using the new decals for the roundels and tail marking and see how the original unit marking decals respond when I use them. If they aren't any good I'll go with the rest of the new decals.
  10. So, progress continues. Painting done and a clear coat applied. Small parts fettled and coloured in. Ready for decals.
  11. Had a day off today and managed to get a bit of painting done. Marking out First coat Really enjoying this build, a very pretty aircraft.
  12. So here is the underside, I took the advice of this site. http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_humbrolauthentic.htm I think I'm quite happy with it. One thing I'm not clear on is what colour should the wheel wells be? I've gone underside colour for now.
  13. Hi Jean I tested no65 on some spare bits and it is very blue, nothing like the pictures and colour schemes on the various sites. I've put some ghost grey on the model today so will post a picture later. Thanks for the interest.
  14. Thanks for the link. Lots of great info and schemes. The decals are a Berna set which has two schemes with invasion stripe. I was planning to swap out the new decals where needed and use the box's unit markings to do White 6 but that site has loads to consider.
  15. I'm brush painting in enamels. Colours I've chosen are No 127 US Ghost Grey underneath No 133 Brown, No 159 Khaki Drab, No 144 Intermediate Blue top side. It's a nice easy kit, not had any issues so far, fit is excellent. Hope you enjoy the build as much as I am.
