  1. Coming on nicely mate- in other news I’ve snagged me a Mew Gull! 😉
  2. Thanks Jeff! I’m not saying the Bofors were accurate but they look an awful lot better than the tube and box guns Mr Lesney gave you and they are easy to replace… not sure I’m out of ship rehab yet but one day maybe….! TT
  3. IMG_5103 by Ben Brown, on Flickr Hi all, I normally lurk in the aircraft section but recently Dad was having a clearout of his attic and came across this build I completed probably 25 years ago! This was the Revell reboxing of the classic Matchbox Corvette. I recall having much fun trying to join the hull halves with interlinking plates and that much filler and swearing was required. I added much internal bracing and a load of epoxy to make a strong bond, fearful of the sides splitting. Also a couple of nuts were glued in to hold the stand. IMG_5127 by Ben Brown, on Flickr Its an OOB build except for the addition of some White Ensign bits and bombs - mainly depth charges and liftbelts. I had the PE 'bandstand' set for it too but I felt it was a bit beyond me to build (still is to be honest). Rigging was fishing line for the railings and I think the rigging. One thing I did replace were the frankly awful guns - two Airfix Bofors from their Morris set and the 20mm Hispano, which i still think is a nice moulding, from the Rescue Launch, plus assorted twin Lewis guns from same and an odd Vickers gun! IMG_5126 by Ben Brown, on Flickr I used some of the thread with the kit for the reel drums etc - I can't remember whether the anchor chain came with the kit or whether I replaced it with some cheap jewellery chain. All painted in Humbrol enamels. I like to think I'm a better modeller now! It wasn't weathered as I was challenged to build a cased ship by my Mum and it was to be 'factory fresh'. A mate made an acrylic case for it for me but he got the measurements wrong its about 6" taller than it needs to be! IMG_5125 by Ben Brown, on Flickr Base is stained pine with a brass plaque and attached with bolts passing through brass tube. As I said from the outset, I'm not a ship modeller! How y'all have the patience to build them is beyond me - as it is this took me a year to complete and apart from a random Airfix RAF Rescue launch I've not built a ship since! Mind you it is an impressive beastie when it's finished. IMG_5124 by Ben Brown, on Flickr Hope you like this nostalgia build! ATB TT
  4. I've been a proponent of a 1/72 Luftwaffe Ground Support Set for some time, the USAAF and in particular the RAF set are excellent and have been reboxed with a heavy to sell a previously released kit. GSE in the scale is less common than first appreciated IMHO- I also suggested a Cold War set for them - perfect for the V bombers... TT
  5. IIRC the Norwegian Ju is actually assembled from several machines but nonetheless it’s all Ju. Not sure why they’d go further to Poland to scan the former Duxford licence built version when there are plenty of genuine Jus in other museums. Fact is they have a good relationship with the Norwegian museum already having worked with them before… plus they may have scanned more than one machine… TT
  6. I know right 🙂 silly Eduard with their 14 marking options in the Gustav dual combo- 14, count ‘em 14 decal options. Hardly cost effective 🙂🫡
  7. Except it isn’t. It’s a CASA 352L…. TT
  8. Is this the first time a ‘new tool’ red box Airfix kit has been issued by another manufacturer? I can’t think of another … TT
  9. Absolutely! That's how I painted my Airfix one as a sprog..... and now cos you mentioned it...one of the most iconic opening credits in war movie history...
  10. Agreed, plenty of J/1s in the U.K. also the 1/72 VFR kit, which is excellent, caters for a number of the J series with different cowlings, alternate tail fins and rudders etc - from what I can gather it has sold well for Harry. a 1/48 Auster would be great and in fact was rumoured here some time back but I suspect it would be more likely to be a military AOP if they do one. So I concur the JU52 seems favourite, in 1/72 - as the Revell 1/48 one seems difficult to surpass- though I have fond memories of both the Airfix and Italeri ones TT
  11. And another trader…. Chas’s Models (private seller stash to clear! )
  12. Now I could claim overlordship and mastery of all things markings and camouflage and you serfs could worship in my glory. Or I could be honest and say I googled it and apparently the change was around August 1930. Is it wrong to say I want one of these really rather badly, I'm not sure I'll ever build it but its just a nice thing to have.... TT
  13. Oooh, with some nice UK markings and a decent decal sheet would be in for a couple of these TT
  14. A friend of mine turned an old scrap Hobbycraft Arrow into a Mistel and put an Angel Interceptor on top TT
  15. To be fair Revell have issued RB kits before, the B-25 came with a can of the sugary rocket fuel IIRC ! TT
  16. I think this is going to be rather a good seller, I had added it to my Airfix prediction list for several years - not least because there are a surprising (?) number of survivors in the UK... G-AHKX – Avro XIX Anson airworthy with the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden Aerodrome, Bedfordshire.[71] Formerly operated by the collection on behalf of the BAe Systems Heritage Flight,[72] the aircraft was donated to the collection in 2022. WD413 – Anson C.21, now privately owned and registered as G-VROE. It was previously operated by Classic Air Force at Coventry Airport.[73] On display TX213 – Anson C.19 on static display at the North East Land, Sea and Air Museums in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.[77] TX214 – Anson C.19 on static display at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford in Cosford, Shropshire.[78][65] TX266 – Anson C.19 on static display whilst under restoration at Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre.[79] VL348 – Anson C.19 on static display at the Newark Air Museum in Newark, Nottinghamshire.[80] VL349 – Anson C.19 on static display at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum in Flixton, Suffolk.[81] VM360 – Anson C.19 on static display at the National Museum of Flight in East Fortune, East Lothian.[82][83] Stored or under restoration TX235 – Anson C.19 under restoration with the Classic Air Force near Coventry, West Midlands.[85] VM325 – Anson C.19 under restoration with the Carew Control Tower Group in Carew, Pembrokeshire.[86][87] VV901 – Anson T.21 under restoration to static display at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, West Yorkshire.[88] Plus another example in the UAE and Netherlands... (from wikipedia) Museum gift shops tend to stock kits of those aircraft they own and volunteers/members of said museums also tend to build them, plus if visitors see one 'for real' they often fancy knocking one together. On top of that they were 'only' retired in 1968 so there is a whole generation of erks who were trained in, or flew in them... then you have UK civilian use, then you have foreign users - Hannants must be licking their lips with all the decal options they could provide! I tip my hat to Valom! TT
  17. Hope you put up a WIP - this is something I fancy doing - I have the Huma L25 but then the AVI Klemm came out and it looked a bit more straightforward to work with - then I found G-ACMZ.....(I know shes not a Swallow II!) [CofR 4754] 22.1.34 to John Henry Payto Verney, Lord Willoughby de Broke, Woodley House, Kineton [based Kineton/Sywell]. who was president of the Northampton Aero Club.... So of course I now have to build CMZ. of which there are quite a few photos - seeing John Aeros thread some years ago I know she was blue and silver.! I havent researched it in detail yet but I think the AVI kit comes with the correct Salmson so should be a straight build from the kit - unless you kindly experten can set me straight! This excellent build may help https://www.modelingmadness.com/review/civil/bur25.htm TT
  18. Good lads, about time this was done - Aeroclub were the last (and only?) ones to tackle this in the 80s!
  19. Wow so tickets are £14.00 per day and " Parking is managed by the NEC with the option to pay for parking in advance and save £5. Advance parking costs £12.95 (available up to three months in advance of the event), on the day parking costs £17.95" so nearly £27 if you buy a parking ticket in advance. Wow.
