  1. Presumably there is a fizzy drink vending machine fitted as standard on US aircraft?
  2. It looks quite "Chur!" Or, more formally "Churr Bro!" in the Kiwi vernacular. Other terms are available, but may be being held in reserve until The Big Reveal...
  3. Another pre-order option... with multiple options too! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/amk-88007-f-14d-super-tomcat-preorder#/
  4. Beardie, that looks absolutely stunning! Then with the photo of the undersides it gets even better. You have already answered my question, which was "decals or masked and painted?" which results with beautiful defined lines. I'll look forward to seeing your other work in the future!
  5. Love it! You even added the whitewall tyres too. Nice work indeed.
  6. Absolutely not. It is an "internet thing" which means exactly zero. On another website I belong to, it is a particularly vicious and mean spirited tool that permits hatred and vindictive "reputation" since it allows a message to be added to it. Britmodeller's "like this" button is much more friendly, and also shows appreciation to those who have gone to the effort to compose some words which we appreciate... or not.
  7. Surely it means that we can redeem points at our LHS to get discounts on kits and accessories.
  8. Hi Fido, Can't help with internal dimensions (since glued inside my Mudhen) but the external measurement of the Aires resin, where it butts up against the fuselage is 23.8mm.
  9. After many years of development, the New Zealand Electron rocket has made it into space. Now the 11th nation to develop the capability to launch into orbit. Well done lads and ladies! Rather chuffed with this, since my Dad was involved with the successful launch of Black Arrow (I still have his project tie). http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39971843 http://www.nzherald.co.nz/technology/news/video.cfm?c_id=5&gal_cid=5&gallery_id=176499
  10. There you have it folks. This thread has become an official "reference" for others to use. As for the "world tour" of this build... I'll repeat the suggestion that fuel could be put into the tanks, the starter button pressed and the thing would want to fly!
  11. I'm wondering what Milspec knitted "tank cosy" will be ordered to keep the tanks warm whilst at QRA... As for chocolate. Don't try Australian stuff as they seem to think "carob" = chocolate. Hopefully there are some artisan manufacturers hidden away, producing quality treats!
  12. As said before, Tanmodel is soon to release a 1:48 kit and then a 1:72nd scale version. Having seen the detail that is going into the pre-production CAD work, these will be an epic leap forward in the standard of Bucc available. I'm currently on the .48th airfix Bucc and waiting for Tanmodel might have been the better option...
  13. Lay a cocktail stick or cotton bud alongside the handle (upper part where you don't really hold it) and then wrap tape around it. Done.
  14. The Libyan campaign would be a recent example where a carrier off the coast would have been more efficient than the Raf flying from Cyprus with tankers. Loads of logistics and fuel to simply drop a few bombs. Which is much like the Black Buck missions. A massive waste of fuel to do something that the SHARs could have done multiple times from their closer (carrier) base/s. No AAR necessary either!
  15. Not having an air-to-air refueling capability based on a carrier is utter madness. Far away from land (e.g. Falklands campaign) and Raf tankers wouldn't cope (too few numbers, distances, etc), coupled with the -35b's short legs means that "something" needs to be in place. If you look at an "unfolded" -35b which has everything opened up, there isn't much space for fuel. They even use the vertical tailplanes for fuel storage! Carriers are an independent force. Being tied to apron-strings of land-based tankers is the sort of idiocy that politicians would come up with.
  16. Hannants as an option to pre-order? Hobby Link Japan have stocked the AMK range but do not show the Tom. I have just emailed them to see what they can do to assist with the pre-orders.
  17. I'm still amazed flying commercial, the instant that the seat belt sign goes out the Self Loading Freight HAS to unfasten their restraint. Leave it connected but loosen it a bit for comfort. Then laugh as others hit the ceiling in turbulence. (Having crawled across a ceiling inside an aircraft in a fully developed stall, this is not a fun way to fly) Which means that the man-servant will require an iron for putting the creases back into the newspaper. Does Crab Air have an appliance fitted for such tasks?
  18. I've noticed how you spell "Aluminium"... You are already half way there. (as a side note, I knocked back some apple cider vinegar to test it for you. It tastes better than the white vinegar, but not having a raging sore throat to nuke bacteria on, can't comment on its effectiveness.)
  19. Thank you for the info! I have just dipped my canopy in the "thinner" version of future (I'm led to believe) which Phil Flory suggests giving two dippings to get the required clarity result. He has changed to "paint first & then dip" which does make sense. Time will tell with my attempt...!
  20. That has come out very nicely indeed! May I ask your technique for cleaning up the edges of the MDC paintwork? Carefully with a cocktail stick? Cheers.
  21. That is rather interesting info on the collector ring Dogsbody. The intricacies of design that go unnoticed until pointed out to us plebs. PC's collector ring, apart from being a nice moulding, I suspect will look rather nice when completed! Really? I must make a note of that since I've just had my first experience of gout. Very true. A veritably endless list of uses for the stuff. If you have a dishwasher machine, instead of using liquid "rinse aid" just use vinegar instead (I still use the clear, white vinegar) and it brings up the dishes nice and sparkly clean.
  22. Sore throats are easily fixed! You require vinegar. Don't laugh, I use this when required and have passed the information on to other colleagues who initially looked skeptically at me, then returned with thanks for the tip. The recipe I read, stated small amount of vinegar added to a bit of honey. Vinegar to do the job of killing the bacteria in the throat - and honey to make it taste better! I dispense with the honey and go for the "full nuclear option"... A small capfull of white vinegar thrown down the throat like a Russian with a shot of vodka! Nothing but dead and screaming bacteria to be heard! Sore throat = gone. As for fortifying the body against bugs. The body can only retain vitamin C for one day, then you need to add more. During the change of seasons and winter, I take a daily tablet of Ester-C, which acts faster and has more "oomph" than regular Vit C. Healthfood shops should have this stuff. All this information provided to keep a healthy modeler at his workbench! Keep up the lovely work PC!
  23. A lovely job of that Matchbox kit. Interesting topic of the VG's as well. We learn more each day. Tanmodel is close to releasing their new, detailed Bucc. It is initially in 1:48, but they will then turn to releasing another in 1:72nd. Airfix "fixing up their back catalogue"... Don't get me started on their 1:48th Bucc.
  24. I'll get down there one year! Nice to see the appearance of the three spitfire formation flight, is happening again this year. Have a great time down there!
  25. What? They must have discovered some of the plans from the Farley Fruitbat!
