Differences between Javelin Mk.1 and Mk.9 ?
Sebastien replied to Fabrice's topic in Aircraft Cold War
I'll state the obvious: no afterburners. S. -
Hi, I want to build a Saudi Tornado in 1/48. I've read TSC parts are in the Airfix kit, but I haven't it. I'm looking for detailed pictures of the TSC to scratchbuild it (and to try and cast it in resin). TIA, Sebastien

Here goes a Mallard.

Easy. Tom was overjoyed on his first review he mailed. Then he separated the parts from the sprues... and sent a second review. On cybermodeler, it's an in-box review. I tend to trust Tom, he's done his fair share of ill fitting kits. Cheers, Sébastien

I received a review from Tom Cleaver. He swore a lot at the kit, at Kittyhawk, and that he would never ever touch a KH kit again.

If that was, I sure hope you got an umbrella... I'm decalling the beast, so nothing that spectacular to post. Cheers, Sebastien

1/32nd scale Halifax - finished
Sebastien replied to tomprobert's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Try and find any part of this build not being a work of art... It's über-awesome. And everything seems so easy... -
Well, a couple of days just south of Cambridge in 10 days or so, and I'll go back to work. And I'll be a drama queen again, don't worry...

I hope you get rested soon, I'll go back to the Shack just afterwards...

Indeed. I'll nail it alright... Thanks for the head up.

I still might nail it. To the wall... Thanks!

So, while a couple of dozen very rich young people were playing ball in the middle of millions of less rich and not necessarily as young people, I uploaded my lates Voodoo pics. The radome and the anti-glare panel are painted: And I started the decals. The decals stick very well to the paint. They don't want to move once you've put them on the kit, actually. So I diluted a couple of drops of liquid soap in water and brushed that before applying the decals (and giving them a dose of Mr Mark Softener): To be continued...

Well, I've decided to obey the French saying: "C'est dessous, on s'en fout", which roughly translates as "If it's under, we don't give a <insert expletive there>". The upper side is much cleaner... I've started decalling, I'll post pictures tonight (as I will be one of the 17 people in France not watching football).

Thanks, you got me blushing (I didn't mention a Shackleton MR3 waiting somewhere in the stash, did I?)... Re your theory: to be honest, I don't know. I can turn any model into a disaster area whatever the quality of the previous model I built, so...

I'm commenting: wow.

Actually, it's not after the Shack, it's smack in the middle... I've a B-47 from Sanger waiting, too. And can I have the padded room, please? It'll be quite a vacation from my teenage kids.

I had exactly the same impressions until I actually tried to build the kit. Well, the decal sheet is instructive at least. I learn there were multiple cancers (and pancreases) on a Voodoo... AFAIK, not many aircraft did use the Genie rocket, and you can find Genies in all kits available. Well, after a few vacs under my belt, some Classic Airframes and a couple of HiPM, I'd say I can use filler and a sanding stick and stuff. I even often enjoy using them. But TBH, I shouldn't have used this particular kit to relax from Sanger's Shackleton. As you say, I should have stayed away (or eaten a llama). Enjoy your build, and please post a WIP. Regards, Sebastien

Hi Bruce, The rivet detail is quite shallow OOB, and the rubbing I did there didn't help a bit. Thanks, Sebastien

Some news from the llama front... A coat of Mr Surfacer 1200 was sprayed to track blemishes, and then it was time for all grades of Micromesh: The antiglare panel is painted and protected: The flaps are held in place with Patafix: And it's time for Alclad White Aluminum: I should have looked more closely before painting... The belly of the beast: I really should have looked more closely: To be continued...

No, H330. Sorry I can't help you about the weapons. Cheers, Sebastien

Thanks Selwyn. I'll remember that on my Saudi Tornado. So now, 5 Revell Tonkas to buy...

According to Wonderland Models, it should be released on June 27th. http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/airfix-172-bristol-blenheim-mki-bomber-model-kit/

Hi Periklis, If this site: http://www.jpsmodell.de/dc/schemes/saudiaf_bomb86_e.htm and the various correspondence sites I've been browsing through are correct, you'll need Light Stone (Tamiya XF-60), Dark Earth (Gunze H72) and Dark Green (but I haven't found any match for that one, as BS381C 649 doesn't seem to exist. Gunze H330?). HTH, Sebastien

Nope. It's the only 1/72 injected Shack. Sanger has all variants in 1/72 vac. But you won't find Hairy Coo Approximatively Accurate Resin Bits for these
