  1. A Westland Lysander from Finnish Air Force, which I am a fan of. 1/48 Gavia kit, built several years ago with some photoetched parts, from Eduard if I am not mistaken. I thought that this plane was small, actually it is huge. It dwarfs a Spitfire if you put them close to each other... Probably the dihedral is too strong.
  2. It was OOB, just replaced the landing gear with a Gladiator's.
  3. Thanks guys! Your feedback's really useful. Are Gunze/Tamiya glosses resistant to oil colors solvants (trementine etc.)?
  4. (excuse me in advance if this topic has been discussed before... ) I am kidding but not too much, because I am really worried about it... :-O What I fear more than a catastrophic event, Armageddon, Ragnarok, Doomsday or whatever you want to call it... Is the day when my personal strategic reserves of Future Clear will be over, and I will not be able to find it anywhere (not even in America). I am an extensive user of this product and I estimate, with my current modelling production ratio, my reserves will last for another 5 years maximum... I do not have already found a replacement for this very, very important item. As far as I know it is out of production anymore and the stuff that replaced it (do not remember the name) is not good for modelling use. Who still have some of it keeps it as the Holy Grail. What do you guys use as clear coat? Something good to set decals, solvent resistant, good for washing etc. just as like as good old Future was....
  5. The model sucks, I know. I couldn't do any better with that old 1/48 Airfix kit. But, man, I do love the Hawker Fury. I find it really elegant. You can see in those lines what will have become the Hurricane. This one is actually a Hawker Spanish Fury as it was dubbed. Part of a small lot built for Spain that took part in the Civil War in the Republican side. Landing gear in the Spanish ones was slightly different from the British versions. I used a old spare part belonging to a Gladiator....
  6. I am looking forward to get this kit. SB-2 is something I've always found extremely interesting. Wanna build one of Republican Spanish AF.
  7. Yes it was the second issue. Not bad at all. Sure, it is not for beginners. It comes with resins and photoetched parts. I preferred it to the Italeri, even if the latter would have been much easier to assembly.
  8. My gosh!!! This is stunning. Simpy perfect. Very clean with the right degree of weathering. I have never been a fan of the Drakken but this model is pure beauty.
  9. I'd like to post a double work of mine. I already posted it on Facebook... so, excuse me this is not new to someone. Fiat CR-42 and Gloster Gladiator represent the peak of biplane technical development and I find them both and equally extremely interesting. Just like a confrontation of two different schools and styles, British and Italian. Such as Ferrari vs Aston Martin... Epic battles between the two contendants over the Mediterranean as well as Africa... (Sea Gladiator is a Roden kit, CR-42 Classic Airframes. Both 1/48)
  10. Very, very interesting camo scheme. With lower wing lighter tones as common on Gladiators. Watch out for Cr-42s!!!
  11. Greek Air Force PZL-24. 1/48 kit by Mirage. The roundels' blue should have been darker. These ones look like more Argentine than Greek. I always have found the PZL really ugly. But, you know, I have a maternal instinct...
  12. Well done, Minion! That beast has always been an interesting plane. Very unique in its shapes. A flying bunker. Med theatre is so intriguing to me not only because it was the main operational scenario for Italy in WW2 but also because the many different planes, their colors, the fact that took place in a temperate climate places (Greece, Italy), at sea and the North African desert. Yes, you are right. The pics are not the best ones. Sucha a good work as yours deserves better shots!!! :-) Ok... let me post another "mediterranean plane"....
  13. I was in the Navy too, so naval aircraft have a special appeal to me... ;-)
  14. The thin line between Love & Hate. The thin line between Ugliness & Beauty... That line in plane aestethics is very thin.... :-)
  15. Something British at last! Not-so-famous-but-very-interesting-anyway long-range FAA fighter Fairey Fulmar. Fought epic battles with Regia Aeronautica S-79s in the Mediterranean skies. 1/48 Special Hobby if I am not mistaken. Always loved FAA liveries.
  16. I find those forgotten conflicts such as Chaco very, very interesting....
  17. Yes it weighs indeed!!! And it is not that small... large wingspan. Currently I am working on a 100% British plane.... Blenheim Mk IV, Love it!
  18. Another model built few years ago. This 1/48 kit was a resin one by AlphaFlight, almost perfect but really expensive (Alpha Flight guy had also a superb Short Sunderland 1/48 scale, even more expensive but a fantastic kit indeed, now it is almost impossible to find it). Probably this is the longest work ever for me. It took about three months of work (I am not a patient modeller and I have an "endurance" of about 10 days before getting bored and the desire of starting a new plane overwhelms me). Main issue in this work was painting this livery called "Policiclica", that was typical of these bombers. Curl by curl... Photos are not the best. I used flash but it was not a good idea.
  19. Nothing special I did not use any "lifted" masking (to have the tiny blending between colors) just huge amounts of patience making three or four mottles per days and constant cleaning of my airbrush nozzle.
  20. That's the ULTIMATE answer I was looking for! Thank you very much indeed Edgar!
  21. British friends, I need from your expertise the ultimate word for this dilemma of mine. In the standard camouflage pattern used by the RAF during WW2 in its various colors (dark earth, middle stone, dark green, ocean grey etc) the demarkation between each color in the real aircraft is just slightly soft (i mean sprayed, sorry for my poor English), as I noticed in museums. But... in 1/48 scale in your opinion this "softness" shouldn't appear as a sharp line? I have built my RAF models for years taking in account this, masking in order to have a sharp demarkation lines... But I see many master modellers making 1/48 RAF planes with soft, airbrushed lines. I hope I explained myself adequately... Here's an example....
  22. You are flattering me, guys, with all these compliments. Ok then, I will post some Italian stuff I have built in the past years. Here's to you the probably most famous Italian plane that took part in WW2: Savoia Marchetti S-79, dubbed "The Damned Hunchback". The kit was Trumpeter one but it was built with heavy modifications in order to correct some inaccuracies. You know, living in Italy, we have many modellers that know every rivet of this plane, thus it was necessary to spend some extra hours on it. There is still some arguing about this livery. The kit and some old colored pictures show that the mottles were green and brown. With the two tones of green it is more "maritime" and historically accurate anyway. I referred to the "Bible" for Italian AF colors a rare book titles "COLORI & SCHEMI MIMETICI REGIA AERONAUTICA". In Italy modellers would sell their own mother to have a copy of it....
