  1. Yes, Phildageek, you are right, and it vexes me a little also, but I do have an excuse of sorts..... Its only OOB build as I built it as part of a limited time farcebook group build, I may revisit it in the future and add crew gear but until then I'm sticking with my preferred 'Braille' scales.... You believe me.... right?!
  2. Just finished this as a straight out the box build as part of another FB group build. Apologies for the poor photography, trying to master a new camera instead of my phone! ATB Sean
  3. Motoring along with this Skdfz 4/1 at the mo.... going to convert these railway workers into some crew for it.... ATB Sean
  4. Properly lacking in interest in this project sadly, but a small amount of progress.... ATB Sean
  5. Some progress on the Pinky in the last couple of evenings..... ATB Sean
  6. Next on the bench is a quick foray back into 'big scale' for a Farcebook group build..... an SAS 'Pinky'..... Having owned 9 Series II, IIA and IIIs, and rebuilt 3 of them from the chassis up, including a Series III FFR, I'm using my previous experience and knowledge to make some obvious additions to the basic kit. First up, the addition of the PTO hole in the front chassis cross member converted the late Series IIA/ III bonnet into an older Series IIA bonnet..... Added bumper strengthener plates and bolt heads, drilled out where the door hinge bolts would be and made storage box lids in the rear cargo bay, also added hinge brackets the the bonnet/bulkhead..... Added missing bolt and nut heads missing from the suspension, added press folds and drain plugs to the fuel tanks and made bulkhead mounting brackets. On to the rest of the build.... ATB Sean
  7. Finally managed to get it finished, its my first attempt at a 'Heavier weathering' style, hope you like...... ATB Sean
  8. Hi all, From now on I'm going to update this thread with my WIPs, copying an idea from a couple of other forums I'm on, rather than start a new thread for each project just to keep things simple for everyone involved, including me, and keep a running log of what I've done, even if not to completion..... so without further a do...... Progress on the 1/72 scale Maus, made by Pegasus,..... I'm currently experimenting with Cotman Water colour to do washes, streaking and chipping, I don't usually do quite so much "age and distress" work, I'm just trying too prove to myself that I can do it if I need to, rather than jump on the current trend to 'over weather everything as it looks cool' ATB Sean
  9. Next on the bench I have a Pegasus 1/72 scale Maus and 2 PSC Lloyd carriers with a 6 pounder and crew to follow..... oh, and a Zvesda R12 with side car. ATB Sean
  10. Yup, they are the tracks that come in the kit, if you look in the top photo between the 2 middle outside wheels you can see by how much short they really are.
  11. Late model Tiger I, Airfix 1/76 scale..... ATB Sean
  12. I was actually going to try to lighten the base colours and give the green and brown a bit of a 'modulation' effect, I tried it before on my Morris gun tractor and 25pdr and it worked ok, though I did experience some spiders legs and splatter trying to get the mix/pressure correct, and this being a smaller camo scheme I'm dubious as to how easy/hard/successful it will be.... We shall see if I'm given time by SWMBO tonight.
  13. Latest work....... Ready for paint....... Camo on...... I feel its a bit dark, and will only get darker with filter and washes, so will try and lighten it a bit..... ATB Sean
  14. Ah yes, I did follow your WIP of your Tiger build Mr Plastix, truth is it was your thread that inspired me as to what could be achieved on my build.... So without further a do...... Today's efforts...... Tools started & spare track sections around the turret scratch built (made some minor errors on these that I hope wont be to noticeable once painted) ATB Sean
  15. Ha, as luck would have it I'm short sighted, I still need to wear +1.5 magnifier glass occasionally but only for the placement of rivet head etc.
  16. Next up I have a 1/76 Tiger I from Airfix, being built as part of a FB group build..... First time I've attempted Zimmerit in this scale, I tried various methods including putty, scratching, glue softening and then scratching and soldering iron with specially made tip.... In the end I did the most with the soldering iron as it was quick & easy and gave semi-acceptable results, I think the tip needs some refining before I use it again...... we shall see what its like when its painted up. And a sneak preview of what will more than likely be on the bench straight after the Tiger is complete.... ATB Sean
  17. Here we, finally, go..... Both kits are Airfix Sdkfz 222s, one has been converted to an early Sdkfz 260, figures, except 1 Airfix, are from Zvesda Recce set...... The vignette is supposed to represent the vangard of the advance onto the Russian Steppe...... All paints are Acrylic, either Tamiya, Games Workshop or Revell...... Hope you like it..... ATB Sean
  18. Its an angle poise flouresent 'daylight' lamp.... splendid for painting..... not so much so for taking pic with my phone ATB Sean
  19. Latest pics, they're up to this stage as of last night...... Sadly my work light has bleached out alot of the colour again ATB Sean
  20. Certainly looks the part mate, nice job, I've not done this kit myself, might be one to consider in the future
  21. Thanks for all the positive feed back guys.... I didn't know how the war game stuff would go down as some modellers can be a bit "elitist" when it comes to that kind of thing, and in any case some of the 1/72 scale stuff is based up for WW2 war gaming..... just don't tell anyone ATB Sean
