  1. Now on with the decals, this is the first time I've encountered brittle decals, this side of the tail section split into 3 parts. I salvaged it the best I could, with only a small part of the yellow to be repaired. Also applied part of the door decals which have to go on before the main stripe.
  2. The last build and this one is really the first time I've used acrylic paints, I'm a convert, I'm liking them more than the enamels that I've always used. Anyway just painted the nose cone black, I wasn't to bothered with the neatness as the decals will go up to this. I then painted the silver wing and tail leading edges.
  3. Yep learned that lesson on the 787-9 Virgin build, I swore quite a few times, when I tried to cut corners.
  4. I cracked on with some more today before the new lot of stronger pain killers kick in, for this damn knee. As you may see, I kind of overdone the amount of masking tape I needed. Anyway all masked up ready for the wings to be painted. Then a coat of grey primer Then the light grey was applied, I used Revell 371 which goes a bit darker when using a dark grey primer. Not spot on colour wise but with the options available to me it looks ok. Also note theres no darker grey corriguard on this plane.
  5. John I used Revell Plasto, I've since refined my application method, check out my Lufthansa build I'm doing at the moment to see how I've done it.
  6. Well that's me painted up the lower metallic grey section, it looks darker than it actually is. First is with all the masking still applied, then the final result, just hoping that the decals are not very transparent.
  7. Cheers Mike as I'm still off work due my knee I've plenty of time to burn, plus the PS4 isn't getting any attention at the moment. One I'm waiting on is the Zvezda 777, I've seen in the past the Qatar/Barcelona colours decals. Yeh the decals look pretty good.
  8. Then I painted the fuselage in Tamiya Acrylic Gloss White. In previous planes I've used Halfords Appliance white, but I'm not sure how that would react Acrylic Gloss, so I used the Tamiya paint.
  9. Yeh I agree it's certainly a nice colour scheme. That's the fuselage all filled and smoothed, even though I thought it was a good join it's surprising the amount of filler and the amount of sanding required. Once I did that I added in all the lumps and bumps to the fuselage. I think Revell's attempt at these antennas etc is pretty poor and flimsy. I redid these all from plasticard.
  10. I then joined the fuselage sections again the fitted together really well. I waited for the glue to dry, the wings and fuselage together.
  11. That's the side windows all filled in, using this method didn't take much filler. Next up the wings, compared to the A319 I just finished these didn't require that much sanding down, and the fitted a treat.
  12. As like other Airbus models I've done they don't come with clear plastic side windows, and I like filling these in so on with the filler. Thanks Trojanthunder for a tip regarding masking and filling. I masked off the area inside where I was going to fill in the windows. I eventually did the same on the outside that I did on the inside, to ensure they were properly filled. And the end result, I'll give this a day or so to dry out.
  13. At the moment I've lost the love for the Tamiya Harrier that I'm doing so that's back in its box for a wee while. I picked this up cheap on eBay, it wasn't till I unpacked it an examined the fuselage that I saw the imperfections. This definitely was a Friday plane. Lots of work involved but nothing difficult to rectify. I've never done a A321 only the A319 so I was surprised by its length, ooo errr This is what I mean by imperfections, it's almost like something hot has been leaned against it or it's been a dirty mould. Look at the line to the right of the door The other side is similarly marked and pitted Anyway onwards on upwards
  14. Nice work, like you looking forward to when the bring out the 777
  15. Cheers Paul, Yeh it's been a long road so far, plenty more models to build, just started a Tamiya 1/48 Harrier which I think will keep me busy for a while, if I can drag myself away from the PS4, funnily my wife says I'm too old for that as well. David Cheers Mike, yep it's been an adventure, thankfully I managed to recover from the decal feasco. Cheers Chris, up until a few months ago I wasn't aware this colour scheme existed, it was a guy on a Facebook site that suggested it to me. David
  16. Cheers for the comments guys, much appreciated. John I tend to fill all the windows, for this kit all the windows were supplied as part of the decal kit.
  17. Cheers Paul, yep I actually like doing these planes, this took a little longer due to my leg, but the Physio is actually encouraging me to do these planes as it keeps me from dwelling on my leg.
  18. Cheers John other than issues of my own doing the decals when on really well.
  19. Hi there I've been building this for the last couple of months it's a Revell British Airways kit, to which I've added Nazca Retro SAS decals, with some of the BA decals. I hope you like it. Cheers David
  20. Then the decals arrived so the ones that I mucked up were sorted, all the other bits and bobs added and it's finished. It will need to wait a while before its up flying with the others. I'm quite pleased considering the decals fiasco.
  21. Next up were the tail sections again sorry not very many photos.
