  1. Cheers Paul, yeh just waiting for another op on this damn knee, this will be the 3rd. It won't go up flying at the moment, it's staying down until I do her sister the 737-200 Hertz David
  2. Cheers Mate, yep I was well aware that this plane had been broken up, as I saw it being done. It was done in "plane" view at Prestwick Airport in Scotland. It was a sad end to a lovely aircraft, I also saw regularly flying into Prestwick. The rear of the aircraft still lives on, at a University down south I believe.
  3. Just finished this one which was more or less a quick build. It's an old Airfix kit of a Boeing 737-200 to which I've added the Ryanair "Jaguar" decals, which came from Nazca decals. Other than ruining one set of decals the build went together really easily. Anyway hope you all like it. David
  4. And with a mad dash to the end and not a lot of photos to show for it as usual that's it finished. Hope you all like it.
  5. Great build mate, and and I will certainly be taking some pointers from it for my of 777 build
  6. It's got a very slight metallic to, but not that you'd notice. Some photos you look at the green area at the rear looks metallic, and on others it looks solid. I decided to go with metallic just to give the plane a bit more presence.
  7. Phil cheers I'll be careful with the wings, on my 787-9 Virgin build I snapped of the same wing tip 3 times. Yep they kept falling through the hole then on one of them, one side lined up relatively ok, but on the other side it was nowhere near and left a gap.
  8. Cheers guys just bought another one, now waiting on the custom Ryanair Hertz decals to arrive from America
  9. Just bought the superglue they recommend, what a difference, although it still leaves me with a instrument cowl I need to fix. Now I'm just waiting for the Milliput to harden.
  10. They've told me they normally don't operate on the MCL, but he's giving a go, the consultant has told me he isn't making any promises about the outcome. Any side to side movement or twist results in excruciating pain which is not good, and my knee gives way all the time. They gave me steroid injection into my knee last week, I almost passed out getting it. It was supposed to help, but it's only made things worse if that's possible. Anyway haven't done much on this over the weekend, as the decals for another project arrived. I will get back to it soon. First thing I'm gonna tackle when I get back to it, are those horrible air intakes, which going by various photos are way to deep, and don't have a step at the front. It's the only part of the kit so far that's been a pain.
  11. I've had the same problem with the intakes, it didn't matter what way I put them on they didn't look right, they look far to deep on my one.
  12. I'm quickly loosing patience with this thing. I forgot to add a weight to the nose of the cockpit, so I bought some "liquid gravity" which is like tiny ball bearings to which you add glue. Well I poured them into the gap by the front instrument cowl, and added the glue, and left it overnight. I looked at it this morning only to find that the glue had reacted with the plastic and melted a large section of the cowling. Que a frantic butcher session where I cut into the top of cowling and removed as much of this gunk that I could. Thankfully the instrument decal and shroud are unaffected, but just more work that I could really do without. I live and learn, so it's getting closer to that top shelf where it will sit for a while. Bought some online, I will get round to using it at some point, but I'm not even looking at the damn thing at the moment.
  13. The only part so far that hasn't fitted as planned is the small inlets in front of the wings, I believe these are heat exchangers, not a major thing, but will require some fettling.
  14. I fell badly at work about 16 months ago, I've had 2 operations to remove tears on the medial meniscus, and it's only now after still being in severe pain, they've found out that my medial collateral ligament was not just torn, but was ruptured quite badly. Now on a 12 week waiting list.
  15. Ray it's RAL1015, I was waiting on my son coming out of his Taekwon Do session when I put the original post on, and I couldn't remember what it was. I had a company on line mix it up. It looks a really dark colour on the photos, but it really is a lot lighter especially with the coats of clear pearl I put on it. I was hoping that the new scheme might have come out, but this will do for the moment.
  16. Cheers hopefully it will be a quickish build as I'm waiting on a date for my 3rd operation on my knee.
  17. This first thing I did was glue in all the windows, I'm not s fan of the clear windows on an airliner so these will act as a base where they will get filled and sanded flat. Next up was the undercarriage carrier Now I know Phil is building another 777 and had an issue with fitting the 2 fuselage sections together, where the kit didn't fit very well. I didn't have any bother with them and the fitted together very easily for such a large plane, with no gaps.
  18. Here's my next "big" build in the literal sense. This thing his huge for a 1/144 scale. I thought I'd make a start whilst I'm waiting on things drying and some decals for other projects haven't arrived yet. It's Zvezda's new kit of the Boeing 777-300ER, with Etihad decals from DrawDecal. I'm quite impressed with the kit, but as usual with Zvezda airliners the decals are crap. No detail whatsoever. As such Etihad decals were ordered from DrawDecal in the US of A. This thing is big, here it is next to a can just to give you an idea of the size of the thing. All the bits and pieces, as I said other than the decals it's quite well detailed. The colour it will be it's a RAL colour to which I've added a coat of Tamiya clear pearl. It's much lighter than in this photo
  19. I'm now at the stage of thinking about attaching the various clear plastic parts for the cockpit glass, obviously I don't want to muck this up, what the best way to attach the clear plastic to the main fuselage.
  20. Cheers Ray, I used to be a graphic artist/designer in a previous life. Also just started the sister to this aircraft which was decked out in the Hertz car rental colours. I'll post some pics soon of that one.
  21. That's brilliant cheers Ray. Cheers Mike this is the first 200 that I've build. A really easy plane to put together. The green was a hit or miss, I went into Halfords (our local motor factors), and I couldn't find a Jaguar paint that was anywhere close. Most photos I've seen are that the paint is a dark green, even the decals are almost black in colour. Although it's like most colours on planes it varies greatly from photo to photo. Anyway after a lot of time looking at the various greens I thought Vauxhall (GM) Velvet Green metallic was the closest match. The photos don't do the green justice. The tail section
  22. Just started this as a quickie project. The kit started off as a really cheap old Airfix Boeing 737-200 in Air France colours. One of the reasons it was cheap was that there was no instructions or cockpit window included. I've build enough airliners now to muddle through, with regards the cockpit I just added some plasticard the filler them over. As I stay near Prestwick Airport, Scotland I am used to seeing plenty of Ryanair's landing there over the years. I found these "Jaguar" decals on Nazca Decals. I used to see this plane land years ago, so I thought I would give it a go. The actual plane The decal sheet instructions The plane all built up with the front half painted a Revell 90 shade of silver
