  1. dont know how I managed it by the 3rd duplicate post nooob
  2. Guys in relation to the Iwata, I was going to use the Voilamart for primer and possibly Kleer. I'm using Ultimate Primer, with a little bit of Ultimate Thinner, and use the Iwata for the main painting. My question is would you guys do the same or just use the Iwata for everything
  3. I've been looking at getting an airbrush for a while now. As I didn't really have much an idea how to use one, I decided to buy a relatively cheapy. It's a Voilamart kit the compressor is quite decent other than getting a bit hot with continuous use, however the airbrush is quite frankly sh@te. As a result and liking this airbrushing lark, I went online and bought this a Iwata Revolution CR. I haven't used as yet but it looks and feels a lot lot better than the cheap Voilamart.
  4. That's the main fuselage more or less finished for the decals to be applied. Here's a sample. The decals are going down a treat. This is the first time I've used Microset, and Microsol. Really takes some will power not to touch them when the decals start wrinkling.
  5. Cheers guys, I've been doing a bit on this recently, I honestly can't get over the size of the thing compared to my other airliners. Anyway after the main fuselage had dried, I masked of the wings etc ready for a coat of Revell 371. It's a lot lighter than in the photos, quite pleased with the result.
  6. The decals are from DrawDecal, I've been impressed in the past with there work, so I thought I would use them again
  7. Cheers Phil, it's been a great kit, I've now painted up the wings, I've been busy with a Yamaha bike build I thought I'd do for a change, but will do some more tomorrow and post some pics up. I've also just bought an airbrush, other than totally blocking it today (don't ask) I'm asking myself why I haven't bought one sooner.
  8. Looking great mate, and yep you must have the patience of a saint
  9. It's gonna be the older livery from the 2014 Gran Prix.
  10. Achhh drat you beat me to it. Lovely model, I'm in the process of building the same model, did you use a wash on the wings, and if so what did you use.
  11. Now on with the painting of the main fuselage. I ordered a can of RAL1015, once that was dry I laid down a coat of Tamiya Clear Pearl. The Clear Pearl is very subtle but it does add some extra shine and sparkle to the paint.
  12. Then onto the coats of primer, now I'll let it dry for a day or two, and carry on with another project I've just got for a change namely a 1/12th Yamaha R1, I've never built a bike so we'll see how it goes.
  13. Now on with the intakes I filed the sides out, but compared with photos of the actual plane they were way too deep and didn't look right. Que a small piece of plasticard in each intake just to bring them up a bit. All smoothed down And little bit more filler and sanding and it looks a lot better. All the wing pillons fitted, again these fitted without any hassles
  14. Anyway on with the build, been busy with other bits and pieces. I've completed the fuselage, it's all smoothed over, it's not perfect but it will do lol. Like most things (other than the air intakes) the wings fitted a like a glove, I've lightly scribed them.
  15. Housesparrow I wouldn't fancy the job of masking all those windows. Most aftermarket kits now have window decals with them, that's why I filled them over.
  16. Halcy I couldn't get them to fit, the sides were too narrow and the intake was just way too deep. I've altered it all now. Your intact parts look way different than ones I had.
  17. Right, just spent the last two days filling and smoothing off the fuselage, after a quite frankly absolute muck up of trying to lightly scribe the fuselage. Anyway I've also bought a relatively cheap dual action gravity fed airbrush and compressor. Other than don't buy a cheap airbrush is there any tips that you good folk could pass on. Through time when the finances are better I'll probably buy a decent airbrush if I can get the hang of it.
  18. Cheers Paul, I just started on the Hertz 737, I built the fuselage, glued it all together, then went to start the wings only to find one of the upper parts from one of the wings isn't in the kit...arghhhhh. I've sent an email off to Hornby hopefully I'll get a reply tomorrow. David Cheers, considering they were the main carrier from my local airport, I only had the displeasure of flying with them once, where I got stung for an overweight bag, which I knew for a certainty wasn't overweight. Once was then enough for me.
  19. Cheers mate, the next 737-200 I have in the pipeline is the Hertz colour scheme, I'd love to do the Kilkenny one but that's just way too difficult for my skill set lol. It's a pity that That not more airlines did this with their aircraft then or now.
