  1. Photos should never be relied upon for the correct hull shape. Rather, utilising the Admiralty lines plan from the maritime museum, Greenwich, is the only reliable method 😊 It seems to me something has gone awry in this department or the surfacing method is inaccurate.
  2. no, but I'd hazard a guess around 12months... Does anyone else think the hull shape looks weird: amidships just above the bilge keel; also below the waterline, fw'd of the breakwater to the stem?
  3. Whilst it's great to finally see pics of the molds confirming Special Hobby are working towards releasing their kit of the Mozzie, I can't help but be concerned about the main mold for the wings: is that surface rust? When you click on the link that Piotr provided, the other die sets are shiny and new, but the wing die set looks like it's been lying around in the workshop for some time without any rust protection... 🤔
  4. True, I didn't, but I quite fancy the idea of both 1/32 and 1/24: the bonus to modelling up in CAD first 😉 Have emailed Tilly Register, so let's see what turns up 👍🙂
  5. Hey Chaps, bit of shot in the dark, but would anyone know if there was much difference between the Austin Tilly and the Hillman Tilly... Am looking to model up a Hillman Tilly, but so far had no luck finding details for it, but can find details for the Austin. Any help would be great! Thanks R
  6. I think this is the most likely subject, given Airfix have yet to complete their BoB lineup... (Just because it's not re-assembled yet, does not discount that it could be scanned-sometimes it actually makes it easier-especially gaining access interior details). BUT! Are we so arrogant as to assume that what they scanned is an aircraft? Many museums also include support vehicles (targets) in their displays-perhaps Airfix are intending to add to their 1/35 range...??? 🤔
  7. Yup, Rodney for me too, to sit alongside my KGV, you know, the pair that worked over Bismarck 😉 Hopefully, someone like Pontos or such can provide all the necessary accoutrements to build Rodney, circa 1941 🤞
  8. IIRC, the differences were minimal, and came down to AA fit, slight differences in Radar, and no catapult/ac on Rodney, I think. Would have to check my reference books, but they aren't to hand at the moment.
  9. At last!!! The right kit in the right scale! 😜 I've been waiting for this kit for years, to finally complete the "Bismarck" episode as a companion to HMS KGV! 😁 Now the question becomes: will Dragon release a kit that allows both vessels of the class to be built at various points in their careers; or will that be reserved for later boxings; or will they leave it to the aftermarket companies, such as Pontos, to fill that niche? 🤔
  10. there are new rumors of a Typhoon by Special Hobby though There are lots of rumours about Special Hobby, and whilst I love their kits, they do have very protracted development periods. Take for example their 1/72 Mosquito plans and the 1/72 Albacore. Given the increased size of a 1/32 kit and the cost and timing increases that follow, I reckon Kotare would be first to market on a Typhoon... 🤔
  11. I reckon a Hawker Typhoon is a good move by Kotare: the Revell offering of the Typhoon in 1/32 dates back to 1973 according to scalemates, and AFAIK there's not been a modern alternative offered since. 🤔
  12. Thinking about it, a Yak 9 from AH would be nice 😍
  13. Well, that's disappointing 🤪 Still, I'll believe it when I see it, as HB/Trumpy have a habit of putting things in their catalogue that take years to physically materialize, if at all... Best example is their 1/350 Nelson class BB's... Still, if AH release a TBD in 1/72 as well as HB, my $$$ goes to the AH kit every day of the week! 😇
  14. But it would be a good surprise, right? 😉 At Midway the USN had Douglas SBD-2 Dauntless dive bombers, Grumman F4F Wildcat fighters, and Douglas TBD Devastator torpedo bombers. Of these, the Dauntless now has a modern IM kit in 1/72 courtesy of Flyhawk, Arma Hobby themselves have the F4F covered, which just leaves the TBD-Devastator out in the cold without a modern IM kit of its own to complete the air group....
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like a 1/72 TBD Devastator... AH aren't shy about foraying into the Pacific Theatre, and there doesn't seem to be a modern mainstream IM plastic kit available of this particular a/c that played an early part in the War in the Pacific...🤔 Alternatively, it might be an Ar 196 as that has no real modern IM kit available either, in 1/72... 🤔
  16. Simply amazing work, Pascal! Has been a joy to watch this project as it advances. Can I ask, how thick you made the wall section when printing the hull?
  17. This guy! 😃 Fingers crossed! and a twin 14" turret.... I'd be up for both and be one step closer to a 1/72 KGV! 😇 (will go well with my other 1/72 plans )
  18. What caught my eye are the Queens Houses, 05625 and 05626... (Nelson and Rodney in 1/350) 😇 They've been in the Trumpeter catalogue around about 5 years now... Surely it's time they materialize? 🤔
  19. Is there still no word on whether or not there's any new ships????
  20. So far only what appears to be some sort of German capital ship, a Chinese aircraft and yet another target... 🤔
  21. Well, ahem, I guess Airfix missed the boat on that one then 😜 Still, given how long the 1/350 Nelson and Rodney have been in the Trumpeter catalogue and still have yet to materialise, I'd say Airfix have got some time up their sleeve to get the jump on them 😂
  22. IIRC, Airfix said they won't be releasing a new 1/24 Hurricane THIS year: maybe what they really meant is that they'll announce it, but it won't be released until next year 😉
  23. Ok, FWIW, I'll play too, my list of new tool predictions: 1/72 B-24 Liberator Sepecat Jaguar 1/48 Lysander Something in 1/35 armour And something in the car range. That's all.... But.... I just can't help but think they might announce something extra special at the Hawker Hurricane event they've planned... 🤔
