  1. Brilliant work , great project. Slightly disappointed you did not include a person of unknown origin / colour / sex etc to do menial or not so menial task on request / demand (could have been a scantily clad Swedish blonde lady specialized in rubbing and waxing material , maybe you could scratch build one for the diorama).
  2. Hi G, It was the only example of the Airfix Walrus left at "Axel's Modelbaushop" in Germany, couldn't leave the little guy all alone there could I? The Gator made more progress yesterday but the site was down so I didn't get around to posting photos, will do that today
  3. 15/12 update. More work on interior of the Gator. Photos added of the R-Models tracks and the holographic foil: I was very chuffed to get hold of one of these little gems:
  4. Nice work on the wiring Reilly, looking very good.
  5. Slow build he calls it a couple of days ago We should change your name to "Light-speed Lloyd" Very neat work, looking great Lloyd,
  6. Beautiful work Soeren, that's a very impressive take on British armour
  7. Hi E, that's right, the R-model links. The Gators seem to get very rusty due to the saltwater environment they operate in so I think I can be a bit bolder than usual with the weathering on this build. Should be fun
  8. My second set of the Korean tracks I used for the Bradley arrived yesterday so they are ready to go for the Gator when needed. Also found some so called holographic foil that could be used for prisms (have to give that a try before committing).
  9. Good morning Lloyd, Thanks, it's still underway and weathering has started albeit inside instead of out
  10. Hi Stefan, thank you. Busy at work this week so the build speed isn't very unusual on average
  11. Good morning Simon, Pre-painted models? don't say it out loud or someone will start producing them. RFI? Hardly ever do that...................
  12. Hi Stix, thank you! It's certainly big, should be an interesting comparison to the Bradley and Abrams.
  13. Thank you Francis, surprises me that not more examples of this model have been blogged here. Good detailing for a budget price.
  14. 10/12 update. Starboard side panel attached, all three passenger benches fitted:
  15. Nice choice again Lloyd, sure you can beat the old record for a IV, this one doesn't have shields to fit
  16. That is quite a large to open Devcon, I have left the colours as they are except for the grey floor plate which I gave a coat of Vallejo satin varnish to give it rubbery look. Adding a coat of varnish can make things "cloudy" or soft as you call it. My standard mat varnish is Vallejo acrylic but I use it sparingly because it does make the model less sharp if you use several light coats. On the other hand a coat of varnish can be used to pull a coat of paint together, hope that makes sense.
  17. It's a rather nice kit certainly keeping in mind the reasonably low price. Fit is very good so far as well
  18. And another good choice of subject Francis, be interesting to watch how you give this Panther a second life
  19. The tarp is a lovely addition to the basic kit, improves it's looks no end
  20. And yet another excellent photo full of details G. I built the 1/350th USS Wasp a few years ago so the stern dock is strangely familiar No room for slip ups in placing and moving things in front of the dock either. Tales to tell the grandchildren later I saw that the Trenton has since been sold to India, that always hurts a bit deep down inside (I remember the Typhoon coming in to IJmuiden in different colours, I felt really outraged about that). The Gators in this photo look very well maintained, new or just had a new paint job? 9/12 update. Floor fitted and the port side plate has been fitted:
  21. Ah, like that! Well, a bit more than half to go I like to spend a lot of time in the weekend on builds to clear my mind after a week at work. Hard rock music at full blast and an enjoyable build to accompany the music helps me relax and get back to harmony. Cheers Julian
  22. Hi G, another great photo The information on chipping and general wear and tear is great, gives me a bit more room to "mess it up" a bit. Looks like there is some oil staining from the exhaust too in the photo. Think I'll stick with the 3 colour NATO scheme if only because after two desert builds a different scheme will be welcome. Tough looking things though aren't they? cheers Julian
