  1. A great set of A320's you produced there Mike. Absolutely gorgeous. As a matter of fact I always liked Northwest's liveries and they both look superb. Regards, Alex
  2. Excellent build and a cracking scheme. If I ever learn the technic of weathering,if only half as good as yours,I would be happy Top work
  3. A wonderful build and a very nice line up you have there. They all look great.
  4. Yes,I considered the DC-10 as well.I have the Revell issue with BA and Martinair Holland decals but they are in very bad condition.I will ask Tod from Pointerdog7 if he would produce a new set for the DC-10 if I can't find some replacement parts in my spares box.
  5. Thank you all for the encouraging comments. Gives me the drive to do another Revell -400.I have another one on hold at my local modelshop. A United Airlines 747-400.
  6. As a big admirer of the L-1011 TriStar I would have a hard time to let go of one of them...
  7. Thank you very much. I can really recommend this kit.Its very well produced. As Heller re-released it again, this time with optional winglets and Air France C/S and Air France retro C/S with decals for the windows as well,I would go for it if you don't mind the unusual scale. You are right, its a shame that BA never painted one of their aircrafts in a retro scheme.
  8. Thank you very much for these encouraging words. Of course there will be some more BA airliners show up in Landor C/S in near future. There will be the 737-200,747-200,767-300 and the L-1011,as I have 2 Otaki kits waiting for a nice paint, the other might be in Caledonian livery if I find a decent decal set. That must have been a great and unforgettable experience those days. On my many trips to Hongkong I also had many 747's of different airlines for the rides.2 times on the BA 747-400 as well as on the 747-300 back in the days of Swissair. I really love the Jumbo as its much more comfortable than the,in my opinion, plastic plane A380. Sad that the 747's are getting retired and are replaced by that huge pile of plastic (A380)
  9. Thank you Mike. Yes the Revell 747-400 makes a modeller's life not easy But anyway they are still worth the effort despite the reputation and their space consuming measurements. Mind you that I have still about 10 Revell / Airfix 747's in different versions waiting to be built..
  10. I just realized that my Revell Cutaway kit of the 747-100 offers also BA Negus& Negus on the decal set.So I will be making this one in Negus&Negus colors, while my other Revell 747 will be now becoming a -200,just found some nice Rolls Royce engines for that on ebay ,and this will be in Landor as I really like that scheme. Yes,I am lucky to take moms birthday as an excuse,so I can place the DC-6,which will be quite big,at her place. And of course I am sure she will be happy as its a nice trip back memory lane for her.
  11. I see. Thank you for your explanation.I will try out that method on one of my future builds.
  12. Thank you Ian. Yes thats true, the Heller kit looks more accurate than Revell's. My current airliners on my assembly line consist of 2 Revell 747's,a -100 that will be coming in the BA Landor scheme as well and a -200 that will probably become Thai Airways in the attractive old livery. But first coming off will be a Heller DC-6B 1/72 in Balair colors,a former Swiss charter airline. This build will be a birthday gift for my mom as she made her first flight on that aircraft back then.It needs to be finished mid october so I will have to put the 2 Jumbo Jets aside first.
  13. Thank you Ian. As I am not yet so experienced in rescribing I left the panel lines as they were.Maybe I start learning more of that skill on a scrap kit or one thats not so hard to find if I mess it up...
  14. Awesome Baby Boeing.Love the 737-200 and your model is a real treat.Very attractive livery too.
  15. what a beauty. A very nice looking model of this classic airliner.
  16. This is the first issue of the A320 from Heller in the rather untypical scale of 1/125. There are only a few parts and the fit is actually very good, except for the enngine/wing fit. The shape of the original is very well captured in this kit,so no changes were done in that case. The box provided decals for either an Air France or British Airways version and the set is very basic. For the BA version are no registrations provided,no idea why.Only for the Air France version exist registration markings. As I had no decent white letters,I left it for now until I get some proper ones to create the registration for the first BA A320. For the cabin windows I ordered a decal set (Uzbekistan Airlines) from BSModelle Ukraine,as there are no detail sets for that kit available. From that set I could cut out the cabin windows and apply it on my BA Airbus. The cockpit windows were cut out individually from my Air Inter A300 1/125 decal set left overs. They match perfectly. Paintings are the same as used on my BA Boeing 747-400 that got completed along with this Airbus. Its nice to have this early version of the A320 in the collection now as none of these A320s are in service anymore. Thanks for looking.
  17. The 747-400 kit from Revell gets frequently very negative feedbacks for its shape issues and poor fit. Yes,its true, there are issues, some people may find more than others, and the overall fit of most of the parts is pretty poor and is no comaprison to the recent Revell airliners. But,and thats an important reason to get one of these anyway, its still the only 747-400 kit in 1/144. With some effort and enough time it can be turned into a decent model of the queen of the skies. What I changed was the cockpit and nose section, mainly sanding away that strange "hump" and try to fix the angle of the nose to fit the cockpit window decal in the correct position. The clear window part sits way too high.I glued it in place, plastered it with putty and sanded it flush to the fuselage and corrected the shape. Together with the decal for the window the look changed significantly. The front end is a tad too narrow,if you look at the nose from above you can see it.From the side it looks fine enough though. On my first attempt I tried to change that section as well but unfortunately I messed it up so I had to buy another -400 to get a new fuselage. The rest of that kit found its way into my spare parts box. Due to that experience I decided to leave the narrow part and only change the cockpit, which is more important to get the kit look like a 747. There are more points that probably need corrections, but in my case I am satisfied with the end result I got and I leave further changes/corrections on the Revell -400 to modellers with more experience in surgery. The Revell 747-400 in the very attractive BA Landor scheme and Rolls Royce engines is now pretty hard to find and changes the owner sometimes for ridiculous prices on ebay. The BA decals were still in pristine condition and I could use them without any problems. Windows and details come from the Liveries Unlimited detail set. Paining was done completely with airbrush using enamels and acrylics. The gray for the fuselage is the Revell light grey 371,it matches the original color quite well. The blue is Testors Blue Angel blue and for the wings I used Testors Voodoo Grey and Revell 374 dark grey for the coroguard panels. Metallics are mainly Testors airbrush metallic enamels. Next up in my 747 collection will be a 747-100 in BA Landor. Thanks for looking.
  18. Its coming together well. I stay tuned to see the finished 727
  19. Thank you speedbird340, Both kits have their pros and cons. The Heller kit is more accurate around the nose thats correct. But the landing gear I find better on the Airfix kit. Its quite simple to get the shape of the nose correct on the Airfix kit. Simply glue in the clear part for the cockpit and use some filler to cover it.Then you can sand it to shape. If you work with decals for the windows they will do the rest. I recently also built the Airfix A300 and it turned out quite well and for its age its a pretty decent Airfix airliner kit Here is the link to my Airfix A300... http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234983965-bird-of-paradise-airfix-airbus-a300-air-niugini/
  20. Thank you Chris. I have the Mach2 1/72 Caravelle kit that I will do in Air Inter markings. For the A320 I haven't found any Air Inter decal sets but maybe Tod from Pointerdog7 could help in that matter. Yes,sadly there is no 1/144 palstic moulded Mercure kit available yet.The only one in that scale would be the resin one from F-RSIN as Jessica mentioned. My Mercures are the one I built from Heller in 1/125 and the VEB Plasticart kit in 1/100,but that one is not that accurate and I guess it will be a lot of work going into this one when I start building it.
  21. Thank you Mike. Yes,luckily F-DCAL left 3 cockpit window options on the decal sheet. The one I chose was the only one with frames. The others would have had the same effect as the cabin windows when applied.
  22. Lovely 737. Top job there Made me just realize that I have not a single 737NG in my stash...Yours just gave me the drive to do something about it
  23. Glad you preserved and moved on with the build. Its just marvelous.Beautiful finish and a wonderful tribute to this classic airliner. You can be proud of it.
