  1. Thanks Litaki for producing this kit! Nice to see a kit manufacturer doing a truly unique subject instead of just another P-51😴
  2. Hi all My first attempt at making something with my Creality Ender 3 was not a great success - I pulled a Hawker Hunter file from Thingiverse and it sliced ok, appeared on printer display no problem then the print itself had issues. The wings were quite nice but the fuselage was warped, not the clean cylindrical shape of a Hunter. No pics to share unfortunately as I'm not set up on a third party site. Thanks
  3. The Airfix Kingfisher that was started in 2017 (!) is making progress hopefully to be done in time for the 100th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. This was a junk salvage job, the pics long gone on Photobucket 🤔, but it had no floats or cowling. I had modified a cowling from the spares box but then recently found and Airfix example. Main float from spares box and outer floats resin copies of Airfix parts. Some interior details added - will add a .30 cal gun before it's done
  4. Very nice model! I'd like to throw a question out on this subject - these are ex-Belgian contract aircraft right? Does anyone know at what point they had the the aluminum undersides painted over? Hard to say but would 71 Sqn RAF have flown them in Belgian colours? ( British roundels of course, in slightly non standard location)
  5. Starting the cockpit detail, with some work the kit provided seat can form the basis of a decent ejection seat, everything else is bits of plastic card. Wing fit at the intakes is bad, massive gaps mean inserting small strips of styrene. The Airfix F-5A needs alot of filler but the overall outline is quite accurate.
  6. Here's a nostalgic build - the Airfix F-5A!was my very first kit, bought at North York Hobbies (long gone shop) at the Bramalea City Centre in suburban Toronto. It was Sept 1974 and I was six years old, the golden era of the hobby when most boys were building models, good times! I have a few of these kits in my stash, as I've always liked it, and to be fair, it can be made into a decent model with some work. Typical of the period (kit dates from 1966) it has no cockpit so there will be some work there. I always thought it was cool that Airfix went with the Iranian scheme, the IIAF was a rising force in 1966, but within ten years would become a superbly equipped regional power. The F-5A was the beginning of the IIAF's modernization. I decided to crack open one of the blister packs in my stash, so I'm looking forward to this one - my 1974 purchase was the 1973 blister pack release that is now quite expensive. Airfix haven't released this kit in a few years (not current is it?) Hopefully they have not given up on this classic. And finally, have to mention the outstanding and still inspiring Roy Cross artwork!
  7. Very nice, the Ecuadorian colours on the tail look great! The FAE aircraft were painted in a SEA scheme in the 1980's when they were sent to the US for a total re-build/modernization which improved servicability. Anyone interested in really wild T-33 schemes should consider some of the Bolivian camouflaged AC......
  8. Another great build! The finish is nice, but it's too bad the FAD got rid of it's T-33's so early because in the 70's they likely would have been painted in the wild green/tan/grey scheme they did on the F-51's...
  9. Very nice! You captured the essence of it, a FAU AT-33A from probably around the late 70's when the original natural metal scheme was replaced by a SEA- inspired scheme. I say " inspired" because the aircraft were not painted in the US using FS colours, they were either done in Brazil or in-house and the colours really vary depending on the photo due to weathering. The photo in your post is probably from the late 80's - it brought back great memories of my visit to family in Durazno in 1988, I was in the back of my cousin's truck on the highway from Montevideo (yes from Montevideo to Durazno on the flatbed of a pickup!) when just outside Durazno what do I see but T-33 on finals to the airbase! And of course I did'nt have my camera handy..... Anyone interested in this subject take note that FAU T-33's also served in USAF light grey overall and a Euro1-inspired scheme in the 90's
  10. Just saw this thread -as a big fan of old Airfix , especially the bagged and blister pack kits i grew up with, this sounds like good news. i have not heard if they will be brought to The Canadas but we usually get all new releases. Price will be a key to if this succeeds. At a decent price I would get a few. Bo 105 would be great I get at least 4. The F-5A would also be nice as well the G91, O-2,Gazelle,BN Islander. And I fully agree that for a GB whatever is built must be ready for operations in the backyard for just before supper!
  11. http:// Well I think it may just work - the mess of bent styrene and super glue roughly matches up with the nose from another Voodoo kit
  12. http:// Styrene bent to shape. I have half the cockpit so am building up the rear cockpit with one from the spares box. I found a Phantom nose that should work.
  13. http:// Fuselage exhaust area will be built up with balsa thin styrene and whatever else I can think of.
