My guess is that Black Friday won't be so much about getting sales by discounting, but making up for the last 2 years by pretending to discount.
Been the case since sales began. Stock bought in special for the event with over inflated RRP's so that the discount looks huge thereby hyping up sales. much like the Aldi & Lidl specials

One possible problem here is that Academy kits are now distributed in the UK by Bachmann - Hornby Hobbies main competitor
The key word being distributor.
To my knowledge there's no manufacturing link between Academy & Bachmann (or Pocketbond who Bachmann purchased) so it's unlikely to affect Airfix purchasing direct from Academy.
If anything was to go sour between Academy & Bachmann there's a potential distributor in waiting.

Interestingly, the undercarriage on the F-35 was black, while the rest was grey. Note the above 1/24? (if the F-35 is 1/48 that works) cars as well. I can't figure out what they are from this image. The Front end of the further one looks a bit like an R8 GT3, and the nearer is bit Jaguar XKR, but what's going on at the back of the "R8" I have no idea. This being taken where it is, perhaps Hornby trains up its designers with the help of a 3D printer and has them making CAD models and printing them as their "apprentice pieces"...
best,
M.
The cars are probably 1/32 - for the Scalextric range. That would put the F-35 @ around 1/60. Could it be an old 3d print for the snapfix kit put there simply as a red herring?

Just had a pop up saying my free version was due to expire in 12 days and warning that i needed to upgrade.
On clicking the upgrade button was offered the paid version, bright bold flashy text, or the free version subdued thin white text. Opted for the free verson.
Offered a 50% discount on standard price, again selected the free version. - confirmed the free vesion fo the next 12 months.
It's only Marketing trying to get you to use the paid version.
It's been the same since the day's of shareware and will alway's be.
p.s. I always keep the free version of Malwarebytes installed as well. It's reputedly more effective in finding/removing infections but the free version can only run on demand and not continually in the background.

However it seems that AVG plan to turf me out in the new few days unless I go over to a paid version.
There's two 'versions' of AVG free. The truely free version for non-commercial use which is a cut down version, and the trial version which is the full blow version but time limited (2 months springs to mind) and intended to demonstrate the features you're 'missing' out on. What can happen is that during the installation of a version update the notification box has an option to use the trial version. If this is not unticked you get the time limited trial.
I'd uninstall AVG and re-install the free version. Keep an eye on any check boxes that appear. Worked for me everytime I've been caught out.

My employers have just suggested I change my career path, apparently they are shocked at how bad an electrician I've turned out to be.

Balsa is too open grained, if you've a model boat, dolls house, modelcraft or DIY store locally see what stripwood they have.
You've nothing to loose with coffee stirrers though there may be a problem hiding the joint's. If you need several layers stagger them like brickwork it will make them much stronger and less likely to deform

One thing I forgot to ask is, did they cut into the sleepers to mount the tracks or did they bolt them straight onto the sleeper as below?
This link to track preserved at Auschwitz might help answer your questions
there's plenty of others available on the web

Close match to UK sleepers which are around* 6in x 10in x 8ft 6in long (150mm x 250mm x 2.59m)
*overall dimensions of sleepers did vary over time as speeds and weights of trains increased, with these dimensions 'standardising' in the mid 30's. That said as timber sleepers had a life of around 20 - 25 years there would be a variety around (although not usually at the same location). Longer sleepers were used where points & crossings were located.

What is actually sad is that not one of those motorists noticed that they were following a cement bulkie, which doesn't look at all like a fuel tanker.
I'm not convinced this is anything other than a 'new' internet myth after all no evidence (video or photo) has been provided, 15 mins of fame anyone?
Man rings the doctor to cancel his appointment, receptionist asks the reason. He replies he's been having trouble passing water recently & can't get out, how long has this been going on she asks. Since the bridge collapsed last Friday.

Junk mail.
I don't care how close your kitchen is, or how how far you will deliver your tripe. Your menu, produced from stock photo's, won't entice me to order salmonella & chips (or rice, or pizza)
I don't want your leaflets - stop wasting resources.

The Beeb for turning non-story into a mass frenzy. Where was the issue with a few filling stations receiving their regular delivery late and being out of fuel for a day or two? I doubt many had noticed before this mornings news.
There is one guaranteed outome to the use of the words "There is no need to P...."
A non-story becomes "You heard it here first"
Yes, 'cause you started it.
Wonder if we can we get them to start panic buying on Salt?

Heard this said of Humbrol Matt Aerosol sprays which has a reputation for frosting. Testors, if it is still available, is far better after that I'm stumped.
9 hours ago, Lewis95 said:I managed to get around it by using a product called Frylite ( a low calorie spray oil for cooking). I sprayed it into the sink and used a paper towel to pick up some spray. I then wiped this on the sink until just a hint of oil spray was left. It slightly intensified the colour but eliminated the frosting.
Never heard of that might be worth a try next time I'm aflicted with frosting.

Gidday Mike, I'm afraid I can't help you as yet although I'd like to be able to. I wish to do a conversion of an Airfix Belfast in 1/600 into HMS Sheffield one day and am on the lookout for plans of the ship too. At the smaller size I probably wouldn't need them as detailed as you but If I find something I'll let you know. Sorry I can't be of any more help just now. Regards, Jeff.
There was an article in the Airfix magazine that covered just such a conversion I can't off the top of my head remember which edition though.

Thought I'd posted the information earlier so checked & found this !

Thank you guys!
Usualy when working with LED´s i use a 12V LED Power Supply. enter the Voltage and Amperege of the LED into a LED Resistor calculator like this one here:
https://www.leds-and-more.de/catalog/resistor.php
and solder the corresponding resistor somewhere between Power supply and LED. This usually works without much complications.
But when i connect the filament with a 90 Ohm Resistor (like calculated based on 3V and 100 mA) the filament lights up but the resisor gets pretty hot after a while wich is usually not a good sign.....
Your 90 ohm resistor is running 9V @ 0.1A (100 mA) i.e. 0.9 W power and as the commonly available resistors are only 0.5 Watt or 1 Watt and may be being pushed beyond, or close to, it's limits.
You may need a higher wattage resistor similar to these:

Problem with this simple circuit is that as soon as you connect a load to the middle point (OUT in the diagram) you affect the resistance and lower the voltage.
If the resistances (R1 and R2) were selected such that for a 12 V input 3V was given at OUT then if, by coincidence, the additionl load circuit resistance was to equal R2 then the voltage @ OUT drops to around 1.7V which may or may not be sufficient to light the LED fillaments.
Two options for @Reelyator are:
One: to replace R2 with the LED fillaments for which he needs the info he's seeking to determine what R1 needs to be.
Two: to use a DC/DC voltage regulator and a correctly designed circuit to go with it that permits an input of 12V and a steady output @ 3V something similar to these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203257492450?hash=item2f531733e2:g:u6wAAOSwdVtgDU3w

Levers to the front of the box (normally) colours differed according to use (signal, point, spare, locking etc). Block instruments on shelves above the levers. Desk for the 'box' register, probably one at each end for a box this size. Stoves for heating - probably located behind the solid panels on the side facing us in the above photo. In quieter boxes a comfy chair (typically not provided by the railway.
More impotantly than any of the above - mashing facilities.
There are loads of signal box interior pics out on the web.

Put a new mask on earlier and it kept slipping off & realised that with this C-19 I've developed Prince Charles ears. Good job it's not sexually transmitted, I thought, I might have ended up with a Prince A....

There's a (slim) chance it might match the company's standard font - if they are still in existence try looking on their website.

Question: does anyone know if British Petroleum fuel trucks had a thin black or green line separating the white and yellow areas? From the photos I've seen, it appears not, but if there's either, I have resources available.... TIA.

Don't foget the motto of all customer services.
"The customer is always right ...
... until they hang up"

Quality Engineers that write/re-write procedures and leave out the key points that control "Quality", don't include those that perform the tasks in compiling the procedure & don't circulate the document to those same people. Then pass the buck when Auditors find issues.
