  1. Have been having problems recently dropping off at night so I went to the doctors. He diagnosed Insomnia so we discused a number of options including their benefits & side effects. At the end he asked for a decision. I told him it was a lot to take in all at once & what I realy needed was to go home and sleep on it
  2. Only to reveal that the Airfix kit's only suitable as a body donor as the one in the film is an Austin body on a Canadian CMP 4x4 chassis. - Cross kitting anyone? Won't stop me getting one, or two, though. Can also see this being done in 1/48 at a later date.
  3. Larger retailers will have already prepared updates for their websites and may not be able to postpone the publication of this information at such short notice if so they may release details ahead of Airfix.
  4. Just had another 503 error after pressing the back button 3x to return to the main forum page having read the 'No Politics' posting. More telling may be that having logged off the forum over Christmas to do some PC maintenance on the laptop I was unable to sign back in. With my account locked I requested a password reset & when submitting the new password, from the desktop, received a 503 access error. Unsure as to if the reset had worked returned to the reset page and tried again to be told I wasn't awaiting a password reset. Returning to the laptop & trying to log in I was again confronted by a locked account. In all cases and the notification screens were only briefly visible before the screens reverted to the main forum page.

    Christmas Star

As every town now seems to have a university there can't be ashortage of wise men Not just in the bakside of beyond unfortunately
  6. As @Dads203 suggests keep the rust gods at bay. Lives depended on these lorries working so they were well maintained despite having a tough life. Rust would be limited to those area's of steel that lost their protective paint. It's very often overdone. Heat affected area's are those that would most likely suffer heavy rust where as areas subject to regular rubbing would tarnish & polish but would not be subject to the heavy rust often seen modelled. Dirt on the other hand would be variable, from little on vehicles fresh from overhaul to heavily covered in mud. Check the photo's in the AEC Matador book to see what's typical.

round here three weirdo's with animals followed by a bright light in the sky usually means the police are executing a drugs bust.

    Christmas Star

Next Monday (Dec 21) Jupiter & Saturn will appear as one single bright 'star' in the night sky, not exactly a rare event as it happens about every 20 years. This years event is the closest to happen for about 800 years. Similar occurances around 7 BC & 2 BC may account for the Star of Bethleham There are probably better explanations available but a comment in this one on the Telegraphs website, link , made me laugh. "Brother Consolmagno said that despite astronomy being able to provide an answer to what caused the bright star, on other levels its appearance remains a mystery. “Either there was something remarkable in the sky at the time that Jesus was born, or there wasn't."" Unless I'm missing something I guess that covers all bases.
  9. I was in the local electrical store when I espied a beautiful girl at the other side of the kitchen appliance department and thought she deserves a wave, not a big one, just a microwave.
  10. It was an awkward moment in the chemistry laboratory - everyone was trying to avoid the element in the room
  11. Many ready made trees are, unfortunately, both expensive and not very realistic. Wire frame trees are cheap, easy to make and can be made to represent most, if not all, species. Check out 'You Tube' for some informative video's such as the one linked here (no connection to video maker just picked at random). Beware tree's are larger than many people model - a mature tree would be around 60 - 80 ft tall - about 12" (300 mm) in 1/72 or 24" (60 mm) in 1/35 scale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0je7Mr2LBGY&ab_channel=1%2F35ScaleDioramaBuilds
  12. Was a pain yesterday (Monday) with numerous 403 & 500 series messages. As stevehnz said also got an "unsafe site" warning from Firefox. Knowing otherwise used advanced options to bypass the warning (not always advisable, but I can trust Britmodeller can't I...) only to be hit with a certificate error. Didn't manage to note the full reference but did see it contained ' .server. ' at that stage I pulled out. No issues today - must be the tablets!
  13. Did you pay the licence fee for using their name?
  14. Have a look at model railway suppliers for N gauge lorries/trucks, either from suppliers speciallising in US modelling or direect from the USA. I can't swear that US N gauge is exactly 1:144 but probably as close as you're likely to find.
  15. Someone mentoned die cast one of the partworks covered the Bond vehicles in depth @ 1:43 scale. They can be found plastered all over that well know auction site. Moore fun kit building though!
  16. It's inevitable that Duties & Taxes will be payable, the threads made that clear. the lower limits may be different, or non existing, if importing to the UK. What's not been asked/discussed is what happens when an item bought prior to the separation on the 1st January (https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-import-to-great-britain-from-january-2021) transits the border after this date? The seller has ligitimately applied the appropriate taxes at the time of sale. HM Customs & Revenue may, again legitimately, apply duties & taxes at the time of import. A double whammy to the buyer.
  17. Is it true that musicians with limited skills can only get So Fa?
  18. Here's BSI's summary of the last edition https://shop.bsigroup.com/ProductDetail/?pid=000000000000375352 As you see it states the document contains "Colorimetric characteristics, Chromaticity, Luminance, Designations, Visual signals, Colorimetry" so any attempt to describe colours that would allow their direct reproduction would put you on very shaky ground. This most likely includes using more modern descriptors e.g. CYMK, RGB. Change history tends to be included as part of the latest revision so also, technically, becomes copyrighted information. There's nothing stopping you doing the research for your own information, or needs, that's partly why standards exist. Just be careful if you intend publishing the information.
  19. BSI will be quite happy to sell you copies, if you're lucky the might let you breach their copyright at the same time. https://shop.bsigroup.com/SearchResults/?q=bs 381c
  20. There's a few items on there of interest is the 10% off available to all?
  21. Would depend on a lot of factors. Era - presuming WW2 Country - Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Libya, Belgium etc Location - Country, Village, Town, City Occupant - a workers house woud be differentl from that of a managers What rooms will be visible kitchens, bedrooms
  22. 80 day's & eventually delivery is complete. Hoping for plain sailing from now on.
  23. If using any force in removing the lid take great care with any leaks. Last weekend had to secure some lead inside a brass loco boiler. Put the lead in place and ran some thin superglue between the two. Hadn't noticed it leaked out of the oposite end - result one ruined pair of trousers & a full skin thickness burn about the size of a 1p/1 cent piece on the thigh.
