  1. Puzzled !! This section is for introductions but OP's thread is now asking for advice on subjects so would probably be better placed under the relevant aircraft/aviation modellng section of the forum. Also posting a link to photo inviting us to enjoy but the link's private.
  2. Books are zero rated for both VAT & Duty so shouldn't pose any problems
  3. Well done, that's one seriously nice build, better than Orange Hobby's own promotional pictures that I was looking at yesterday. Their own pictures show that a lot of work is needed. That and the fact I really need a batch 2 put me off.
  4. What you've got looks fine, possibly a little too good as the outer cladding would be made from numerous plates butt joined together with some of the joints hidden behind the boiler bands or out of sight area's such as the top or bottom. Under wartime conditions these joints might not be as perfect as during peace times By way of example here's a museum piece https://c5.staticflickr.com/1/476/30901856164_98ac972171_k.jpg and one from a detailed walkround https://www.flickr.com/photos/blaubar/45776161992/in/album-72157700221416912/
  5. Tha c'n alus tell a yorkshireman, but tha can't tell 'im much.
  6. Delivered to work, yes. No SWMBO to have 'that' discussion with. More convenient than having stuff all over the place or left unsecure. Recent purchase of £200 on books could have been disasterous with the recent weather we've had.
  7. Also looks like it varies in size increasing slightly for the first few letters before tailing off towards the end as if the top of the letters were forming an arc. If so it's more likley to be graphic art the a true font.
  8. Barnsley lad's whippet dies so he goes to local foundry for a cast memorial statue. "I've lost mi dog, i'm lookin' for a memorial, here's a few photo's what can tha du f'mi?" "Well we're best around we can do you a life size casting were good at 'em" replies foundry owner who then shows him a few they'd done earlier. "Them's alreight", whippet owner replies. "One like that'll do. How much?" Foundry owner replies it all depends on which metal it's cast from and starts running through the options when they get to gold Barnsley lad says "That'll do, he won a few races, he deserves it, How much?" "It depends, do you want it eighteen carrot?" asks the foundry owner. "Nay lad it wern't vegetarian or owt funny like, eatin' a bone 'll do"
  9. Was going to say it could only go up but i've been wrong before.
  10. I use Mailwasher to pre vet my e-mails whilst they are still on the server. It has built in spam filtering which can automatically identify many spam messages and mark them for deletion. This automation is based on available spam sources, e-mails that do not contain your e-mail address, your personal settings and the programme 'learning' based on your previous selection history. Emails can be manually set to delete or unset if automatically set for deletion. When the selection is complete the program deletes the identified files from the e-mail server before opening whichever software you use to read your e-mails thereby seriously reducing the risk of you receiving infected files. Try it they have a free version https://www.mailwasher.net/
  11. Sound like you were ripped off, 25% commission to the shop is more normal in my experience after all the shop's had to make no risk in pre-paying for items that may not sell. For the more desirable items I'd be expecting 50% on trade in against stock.
  12. Plus the VAT so around £100 which is around the amount sellers are expecting on e-bay for other SE/Wills Finecast 1/24th cars. and similar to what some are achiving, LINK although others struggle at far less than that different link
  13. Commercial motor magazine has an online archive which contains thing like road tests, new product launches etc Whilst it probably doesn't include military versions commercial equivalents are likely to be found. Warning: the search facilities are not exactly user friendly here's a link to the 7 ton commercial version. http://archive.commercialmotor.com/article/9th-march-1951/42/the-new-bi
  14. Pardon, you need to speak up young man my hearing's going.
  15. I think the account settings lists the most recent posts in all topics so can take time wading through to get to the specific topic of interest. What I find more useful is the date/time of the last post. I'll use a pinned post (less likely for details to change) to illustrate: in Aircraft Modelling Military Aircraft by Era WWII at the top there's a topic started by Julien called 'Useful topics'. At the extreme right of the post you'll see information relating to the last post in that topic, here the bottom line shows either a time since the post was made, number of days or a date. If you click on this it will take you direct to the relevant post. HTH
  16. It's more dangerous to use a blunt one.
  17. Forced perspective has been used for years, probably since the late '60s, in model railway layouts to add depth to long thin layouts. OO (1/76) to the front, HO (1/87) or even 1/100 to the rear. IIRC there was once (late 80's/90's) a layout on the exhibition circuit that depicted two parallel main lines where the front one was modelled in OO & the rear in N, viewing angle was controlled by placing it on tall legs so you looked across it rather than down on it. It showed that when done well it can work.

    Covid Jab

If i remember rightly those that reacted to the test hadn't had been in contact with TB and needed inoculation, those that didn't had been in contact with TB and, in theory, didn't. We were tested at Junior school in the late 60's and everyone except myself reacted to the test and received the jab. That would be the end of it you may think, everyone has had the jab or has natural immunity. Not so. For months afterwars I had to go for a further series of tests to determine if i was infected, carrying or had previously been infected and if so whether there was any permanent or long term effects. I think they were baffled when everything came back all clear.
  19. Had similar with a Samsung TV broke down 2 weeks after the guarantee ended. Failure symptoms were familiar so checked it out sure enough blown capacitors. Not surprising when they were using 10V rated caps in an area marke 16V. Will never knowingly buy Samsung again.
  20. I've posted a work around that restores functionality until the site owners can re-program the page. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23507-ultimate-model-paint-conversion-chart/page/2/&tab=comments#comment-3982497
  21. With the demise of Adobe Flash the interactive online version of 'Ultimate Model Paint Conversion Chart' no longer works however I've managed to find a work round that restores access You need to download Adobe flash player projector from the Adobe website https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html The windows download is an executable file and does not require installation to run save it where you find most useul. Cick on the exe file to run the program. Then from the menu click 'FILE' and 'OPEN' and in the pop-up box paste the following: https://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/PaintConversionChart.swf and then press OK. The original file should then run as it did prior to Flash being withdrawn. How long Adobe leave Adobe flash player projector available for is anyones guess, grab it while you can As with all software ensure you take any security, anti-virus measures etc you see fit before downloading or using.
  22. How about a servicing diorama? https://i.pinimg.com/736x/c1/eb/07/c1eb07487d67b17e545ba6fad198396d.jpg
