  1. LS We're great . I remember buying most of their pistols in the 70's. My dad had hours of 'fun' having to use woodwork clamps to sort out warping on the receiver of a P38. I had hours of fun playing with them though . I vague recall making an M16 which was so delicate it wouldn't tolerate any rough handling.

on a more current note. I discussed VCRA with a gunsmith recently. He explained airguns are already firearms so can be pretty much identical to firearms !

airsoft aren't really powerful enough to qualify as firearms so are imitations and need to be regulated. I have several air pistols all CO2 powered and they are definitely more powerful than the airsoft equivalent. You really wouldn't want to get shot with the metal BBs pistols like the Beretta etc fire - but ironically I can buy one over the counter with just a driving licence.

So if you want a realistic looking rifle which isn't orange you have to do airsoft registration process and take part in skirmishing etc.

  2. I managed a bit of progress today .

started on his eyes and added some hair colour to get me started.

I've also continued on with weathering the armour more. I find it very helpful to add  a bit and revisit again and again .

I originally just splattered various. Mig pastels and left then to dry.

Now I have applied completely dry mig industrial rubble with a brush working it in quite firmly.

then I went over  it with an old slightly and horrible stiff flat brush which gives the random scratching effect. I will continue layering it up.

In my view the more random the more realistic, particularly at this scale.

    The pictures will assist

  3. I've just used the web

I did find a picture of several on display and one was entirely black including the grip which I think would be much easier to paint. The major difficulty with the movie weapon would be getting a convincing finish on a translucent grip.

thanks for the tip I'll see what  knobs I can find online

  4. This has been inspired by the forthcoming Blade Runner sequel.

I found the gun itself on eBay and thought it might have alot of potential particularly when you look at the cost of the replicas available online.

the plan is to clean it up and paint it to look like a standard weapon and not the amber handled version Deckard  used - more of a standard service pistol used by officers in general

I have drilled out all the Allen headed screws and have some stainless replacements to insert.

finding the knurled but for the right side might be a bit more challenging.

  5. Fixed his head and started working on the collar and shoulders. Highly likely to fall at the last hurdle as I haven't painted a face recently but airbrushed some tones on to boost morale.

Only thing now bothering me is the relationship between his head and the armour in that it could look like he has a very short neck. I think it could be the shoulder armour distorting the proportion .  Too late now though as it's well stuck on. I think once the black under suit is painted it'll look OK.

located a suitable head . A Walking Dead character I think. Has a older look about him which I think would be appropriate for a Stromtrooper Commander.

plan is to use milliput to make his collar and then do the same on the shoulders to lose the ball joints and make him  look less cyborgish

  7. You're right your plain white one looks OK. Weird

I'll post a picture when I have the new head . definitely going down the off duty/ post combat type thing .

his helmet looks OK as a standalone item - maybe on a tiny stand.

I'd been interested to see how it compares to the helmets Bandai sell - I've seen them advertised as 1/5 not 1/6

  8. Received Bob,

I'm more of a Clone fan really so this was a bit of a spontaneous purchase. I'm a bit  disappointed but a head change will sort it. I'll find a suitable bald head and report back

Back to Bandai's 1/12 clones . Next one will be a Wolfpack 104 Battalion grey and white version

  9.

Earlier I asked if anyone had any thoughts about the scale of this Stormtroopers head.

I will attach some photos of the chap as he gets built up but I must say he looks like a bit of a bobble head from some angles.

I'm tempted to try and find a bare head as once you notice it it's a bit annoying
