  1. Can't find any rods here so can't do that. The sprue idea seems good,i saw it on another build as well. Think I'll do it. Regarding the painting, I'm planning to use revell aqua acrylic gloss white, this should be fine right? Or will it not be glossy enough?
  2. I initially put a coat of vallejo primer (forgot to mention that, oops). Then put several thin coats of the dark brown/green. I did thin it down. I just didn't thin down the lighter green used for the camo.
  3. Hello, After my spitfire (http://www.britmodel...e-starter-mkia/) I'm going to do my second build ever, my first airliner ever. Quite excited for this one. I'll be making the Airfix 737-200 in Brittania Airways colours. As I'm a beginner I'd ask for all the help you guys can give me The unboxing of the kit is here: Tomorrow I'll glue the fuselage halves together and begin construction. I am planning to fill the windows with UHU and maybe cover it up with some Revell Plasto to make it solid (Thin layer of Plasto on the outside with UHU clear glue on the inside part of the windows to reinforce it). What do you guys think? I'll then slap on the window decals later. If anybody has any tips before I even start, please share your knowledge oh wise ones! Wish me luck! Hamdhan
  4. Oh right, roger that will mask the canopy for future builds! Thanks!
  5. Final pictures posted here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234973279-airfix-172-spitfire-starter-mkia/ Check it out!
  6. Hello everyone, So I finally got around to building my spitfire! Total time it took is under a week including drying, sleeping etc. This is my first build ever, I am now going to start on the Airfix 737. Let me know what you think I used the paints provided in the kit except for Revell Aqua aluminium for bits of the landing gear. I used UHU for to glue the canopy to the body. There's a pilot inside. Also, I used decalfix for the decals, decalfix worked amazingly well I'd say. Lastly sealed everything in with two thin coats of Revell Aqua Gloss. [Thanks to everyone who helped me out with this build over at another thread ] See below the pictures of the final product : That's it. Let me know what you think! I'm going to be building the Airfix 737-200 soon, so let me know what I can improve on. I'll start a new build thread tomorrow or something for the 737 in the airliners section . Cheers, Hamdhan
  7. Phew, been reinstalling windows as well Finally, after 5 days of building whilst sorting out my computer, I will soon upload the photos of the build and tell me what you all think
  8. Made quite a lot of progress since getting back home over the past 2 days. Will post pictures when I can get my desk clear and access my keyboard, it's hidden under newspaper. Decalling soon. Hopefully decalfix doesn't screw it up
  9. oh oh! Wow that does look awesome! Looks like I must give it a go!
  10. Thanks for that! I dont care too much about the pilot (I'm lazy ), he just has to look alright. I care more about the plane itself. But this doesnt seem too hard to do and looks like a few seconds of work, so I shall try it!
  11. Do you mean block colors just on the pilot? Or on the whole aircraft? I'm a bit confused Would you happen to be able to link to some sort of picture so that I can visualize this trick
  12. I was actually looking at this yesterday and thought to myself... "hmmm... seems like a good idea " Thanks for the tip Stix, I shall implement it
  13. Does that mean the DecalFix is a no go with Humbrol and Revell acrylics? [i have the small 28ml version of decalfix I just bought ]
  14. Looking good! Can't wait to see the final final. Very interesting and unusual concept of an asymmetric aircraft indeed.
  15. I have assembeled the cockpit, painted the inside of the wings whilst they are still attached to the sprue. I've also made the pilot. Althought I might have messed the decal up abit, anyway will apply some decalfix over it to help it set better (also it shouldn't be too visible once hte canopy is on). First waterslide decal I've applied, so will use decalfix from the beginning next time and see how that goes. The next steps are to assembling the fuselage and attaching the wings to it. I am now done (for real this time xD ) until christmas time. Whilst I do have some spare time to build it, taking a built aircraft with me back home in the cargo hold of a real airplane ( ) is almost certain to break some bits and bobs of it. So I'll save the breaking and keep myself real busy over the christmas holidays with spitfire, 737 and A319. Here are pics of progress Badly applied decal http://i.imgur.com/NBXOrJY.jpg . I later adjusted it and it sits much better now. Captain Spitty! and lastly, the insides of the wings painted [note the recycled scratch paper from math workings] : Cheers!
  16. Okay, I cannot stay away from this model, guess I'll try make as little progress as possible before christmas. I should be doing work now... but procrastination YAAAAY
  17. Ahahahahhahaha oh ma gawd! You could start an eBay shop and get filthy rich. I guess you'll be selling model aircraft in the post apocalyptic world?
  18. Hahaha! Buying is fun, I've just started and unboxing is fun stuff! and WOW! Squarehead, surely you have a model SHOP!
  19. Hello all, Whilst I still have to finish my Spitfire build, thought I'd purchase more models ahead of the Christmas rush! Was so excited when I picked up the intercom and heard "Hello, I have a package for your flat." I did a very quick celebration and ran down to get my stuff. My first airliner scale model kits ever! Anyway, the unboxing of these kits is here: Around mid-late December is when I'll be building these, so do stay tuned! Hope you enjoy it! Regards, Hamdhan
  20. and I also got my other aircraft kits in the mail today ! WOOT SUPER EXCITED. Will upload YouTube unboxing vids and make a new forum post for it shortly :D
  21. Thanks ! Although the watch will probably have to wait until around chistmas for building to resume
