Airfix Boeing 737-200 Brittania Build 1:144
Hamdhan777 replied to Hamdhan777's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Thank you for your post. Yeah I tested out some PVA glue I had, terrible results haha. My acrylic paint seems to provide a very glossy finish after a few coats, I have some acrylic varnish and I guess that'll have to do. I dont have access to anything else. So improv time! -

Thank you for this information, and oh my, this... is complex . :| I have light grey, I'll try mixing it with some black to get to the corogard colour. No medium grey on deck I have the colors recommended on the box (LOL), nothing else. I have some also meant for a Revell A319, so hopefully with some mixing magic, I can get the correct colors. Thanks again. Helpful pictures, I've saved them for use during painting. -

Thank you ! I've read about the black undercoat before, so I'll try paint on a black undercoat before several layers of silver gloss paint. I'll go get some PVA glue as well and test it out. Will probably resume building after a day or two after the new year hype. -

Quesiton: When it comes to painting, the top will be white, and lower half will be of a silver-ish color. My question is should I paint the whole thing white, and then put the silver on the bottom over the white coat, or just paint the top part white and the bottom part silver? Thanks in advance! -

Now I am quite scared actually lol. I will go have a look for a Kleer/Klear equivalent, but if I get some time I'll test the glossy white brush paint on a small area and see the finish it produces. If it produces a decent finish I'll go with it. I always produce a mess with spray paint, so dont want them lol. Let's see how far my painting skills take me. I must believe! . If my calculations are correct, I could still brush paint and finish it with spray Klear to get a good finish. Many calculations. Will probably do the paint testing in a few days, will let you know how that goes! Thanks! Hamdhan. -

Alright, I'll grab a can of white spray paint. I hope it wont react with decalfix :L . I guess I shouldn't brush on my final coat of varnish then to seal in the decals. -

I'll try look for the said paint, but doubt I'll find it here in the UAE,but will have a look. Glad to have you on board otherwise! To me this was one of the weirdest planes I flew. It was with Kenya Airways when I was little, I remember being intrigued by the insanely long engines -

Attached the wings. Getting the angle was hard, but it's reasonable alright. Here are pictures of the painting of the inside of the fuselage black, joining fuselage halves and attaching the wings: -

So windows filled in, sanded, doors fitted and sanded. Oh boy, the fitting of the doors was utterly poor. The amount of filler that had to be used was insane. Pics of the progress: (Reading the instructions) The fuselage: Covering the outside with tape, and filling the windows with epoxy. [imgur](http://i.imgur.com/vjqSRa7.jpg) It produced a very smooth finish apart from some air bubbles which I covered with filler (Revell Plasto). Masking the area in preperation for filler: Filler passed over to cover any imperfections in the epoxy. Filler sanded down and tape removed. It might look a little patchy but it feels smooth. Primer coat will tell. Doors fitted and filled, later pictures show the sanded down doors (annoying stuff) . Tomorrow I'll join the halves together and weight the nose. I'm thinking of pouring some thick glue (UHU or PVA) into the nose as I dont have a bolt or weight small enough to fit Thanks for looking -

Okay the epoxy has hardened and I've pulled off the tape to reveal nice, flush and filled windows. There are some tiny holes which I'll run over with one or two passes of filler. -

Thank you everyone. I'll add milliput to my list of things to get when I go back to the UK, can't find anything here in the UAE The Epoxy idea I like... because it looks like it'll take less effort than the sprue. I think I'll give it a try, then apply a thin coat of filler over the epoxy windows to finish them off and then sand it down (bye bye panel lines). I'll reinforce the inside of the windows with some tape for good measure. Oh and thanks for the tips skippiebg. Yeah I'm with the water based paints, they seem less effort to handle as well because they can be thinned with water. Oh and btw Jessica, which 777 is that? I do like a 777 -

Oh right, thanks Feoffee2. Will be careful with the white. I'm scared. Let's hope for the best. So I'll use sprue as no plastic card is available here.
