  1. Any colour so long as it is grey then!
  2. Not a pro build by any standards lol. Few mistakes made so will count this one really as a practice build. Things I would do differently (1) Get a decent ejection seat for it (2) Look out for after market decals for the cockpit. (3) I thinned the primer to much initially so this got the painting off to a bad start (5) Picked up the Dark Sea Grey instead of Squirrel Grey I wanted for the top of the aircraft! (6) Decal placement, below the cockpit/nose I would move the side number and roundel forward for better spacing. For a beginner like myself it is quite a good model to fit together. Sure I will do a lot better next time.
  3. Well finally got all the bits ready for my first attempt with an airbrush and primer next week, seats were a little awkward so might need a little filler! Glue is a lot thinner than it was decades ago when I built a model lol. Guess I will be using this kit for practice mainly! model1 by Bobbster007, on Flickr
  4. Tanks Shaun, yes decided just to use it, seems to only be a gauge malfunction at the bottom end of the scale, so bit of practice with it and I will crack on with the model spraying
  5. Thanks Mark, all seems to be working apart from the gauge so think I will just go for it, thanks for the offer on the decals but all the models are 1:48
  6. My ebay acquired AS186 appoears to work fine regulator adjusts pressure etc but gauge does not appear to function correctly. With no air in the system the gauge always indicate 30 psi, in use pressure build up no problem to 57psi and then shuts off as it should So in essence when the gauge should show zero it actually reads 30 psi with the whole system discharged. Am I missing something obvious or do I have a malfunctioning gauge or pressure switch?
  7. Well thank you for all the feedback comments so far. I washed the kit ready for priming. I ran up the AS186 compressor to practice before priming but the pressure gauge will not fall below 30 PSI. It does read correctly at the top end around 57 PSI, fully aware how to adjust the air pressure etc but even with the system empty and fully discharged the gauge still indicates around 30PSI. So I am guessing I need a new gauge? Just thought I would ask on here as I have searched all the forums no-one seems to of had any problems with the AS186 gauge and lots of images with the gauge showing zero. Of course I could guestimate what pressure I am using but being a newbie it would be nice to no lol. Am I missing anything obvious before I order a new gauge? Apologies: just moved this to the compressor section!
  8. Well I have acquired four models for a display on a photographic/model theme. Having not built a model at all I have decided to go with the Hawk aircraft first out of the four as this seems the most basic! Are there any upgrades anyone recommend that I should use with the kit? Just about to order all the paints then I am ready to go. Future problems at present the only problem I can see is that I need to finish the aircraft in 736 Naval Air Squadron Livery as picture below; I need a white 1/48 lightning bolt for the tail any one know of a decal sheet with one of these on? I could paint the tail fin white and make a masking tape lightning bolt and then spray black as an alternative, but would rather have a decal if possible. Hopefully starting with in a week, will keep everyone updated on the progress good or bad lol.
  9. I to asked the question, here is the reply I got from Creative Models: Hi The kit does not contain the revision parts and we will not be getting any more in. The parts would need to be obtained from GWH themselves. Many Thanks Creative Models Ltd. I have contacted GWH but as yet have had no reply so it could be these parts are no longer available. But at least I know the corrective parts are not available in the kits that Creative Models have
