  1. This really does bring back memories by the bucket load. I too had a bedroom ceiling full of models, back in the 80s, hanging from cotton, later fishing line, in all kinds of insane positions. I remember painting the ceiling pale blue, with big white dots, though not exactly sure why. Still, mum and dad didnt seem to mind. Some that come to mind include a Monogram B36 and B52 (had to resort to proper hooks for those two, drawing pins wouldnt take the weight), assorted Airfix Spitfires, Me109s and Hurricanes, as well as a 1/32nd Bell JetRanger in Treasure Hunt markings (remember that TV series?). Got quite a few pics somewhere, must find them and work out how to post images on here.
  2. Has anyone else noticed the former airfield at Watton on Google Maps recently? The satellite view clearly shows the four hangers still in situ, while street view shows a very different scene. I wonder if the new residents are aware of the history under their feet?
  3. Lovely work there. I had forgotten that Airfix did a P80. Got me thinking about whiff potential there....
  4. Welcome on board. Still rather new here myself.
  5. Well, thats rather nice, to put it mildly! Stunning weathering effect.
  6. Some delightful colour schemes on that trio - excellent stuff.
  7. It would take me 5mins to make a squadrons worth, then 5 years to decide on colour schemes and markings!!
  8. Oh, I love that a lot!!! Great to see such a nutty offering on here. Great little diorama too.
  9. Excellent end result. It has me looking up at the two Revell examples waiting to be built on the shelf above my bench, plus thinking of a very old Frog offering tucked away in the dark corner where the cobwebs linger.
  10. Very pretty little machine. Excellent finish there!
  11. Do manufacturers really remove parts from kits to stop us making certain versions? Had not really noticed before and assumed the missing Gannet part was simply bad luck on my part.
  12. Wonderful work and a wonderful kit. Another one to add to the wish list!
  13. Lovely job there. Glad you enjoyed yourself and hope you enjoy many years in this hobby.
  14. Mmmmmm drones, yummy! Can never have too many of those cream and red delights on the shelf. So far I have made a Meteor U15 (converted Airfix F3), used to have a Firefly U9 (converted Airfix) and am planning - via Whiff world - to do a Lightning D7 (maybe based on Airifx F3?) Wrong to treat a Lightning that way, I know, but my imagination needs satisfying!
  15. I have two in the stash, thanks to Hannants recent special offer on these kits. I plan to turn one into as AS4 like you. The ventral radome would need fitting, as the T5 didn't have it - but its in the box anyway (well, was in one of the boxes I got, but missing from other). Other than that I'm sure many others on here would know the detail differences.
  16. I also have a Matchbox Provost waiting its turn to land on the bench. I have already sanded down the canopy frames somewhat and will probably give it CATCS markings, as I am currently doing with an Airfix Vampire T11. Like you, I'm going to use scrap parts from 'dead' kits to furnish the rather empty cockpit, as well as scratch build assorted small details using plastic card.
  17. Aftermarket decals - transfers in my language! - are one thing I am keen on without a doubt. First discovered the wonderful world of Modeldecal many years ago. Shame they dont make new sheets any more. Anyone know why some of the older ones, such as the Gulf War set, have not been re-released? I too have tried printing my own. We have a good quality B&W laser printer at work that has enabled me to print out some A4 size UK military serial letters and numbers, saving me a fair bit of money. Also been messing about with designing some basic colour designs for my Whiff models - just not been able to get close to the colour laser machine at work...yet.
  18. Now, that gives me confidence! Got one of those huge kits when Hannants were selling them cheap. Not up to modern standards but at that scale even the rivets look acceptable. Have been tempted to try a two seater conversion, so will follow your progress with a lot of interest.
  19. Some things are currently beyond my skill level, but I dont think I would say they will always be that way. Maybe I'm being overly hopeful?!! On the rare occasion I have used etched parts I seem to end up with most of them superglued to me or lost to the evil carpet moster that lives down below. Not just me that does that then!!!
  20. Always nice to see an older kit worked on to improve it with homemade details. I have always felt sorry for the Defiant for some reason - both this kit and the real thing!
  21. Looks good to me! Have yet to tackle rigging, but have several biplanes in the stash, so thanks for the info regarding suitable line to use.
  22. Great work, including those display bases. Love the subtle weathering on the Apache btw. Nice to see them in something other than the dull overall green finish.
  23. Dont see any issues with the paint/weathering either - looks very realistic. As with Leonl, I really should make mine too. Really miss seeing them perform at the likes of Mildenhall Air Fete. Can it be such a long time ago?
  24. Nice work there without a doubt. Those HobbyBoss 'Easy' kits are great value for money and an excellent way to try out new techniques or make drastic conversions without worrying about wasting money. Just wish they would expand into post war UK subjects. Imagine...a 1/72nd Easy Build Hunter FGA9 for a few pounds.......
