  1. I've been looking for a Sabre kit to pair with my Highplanes CAC Sabre conversion kit. I came across this locally and ignored it at first. After a bit of a google I could find nothing about the manufacturer. Doesn't help that I can't type Korean (I assume it's Korean). However, I did come across this boxing of a Hobby Craft Sabre. I don't think I can use it anyway as it has leading edge slats, but I'm curious. Now I'm wondering if the top image is a Hobby boss rebox. Or perhaps a subsidiary of theirs in another market. Any ideas?
  2. That looks fantastic, Ian.
  3. What are Subritzsky's plans for his collection? Museum? I'd love to be able to see that NF Meteor in the flesh/aluminium someday.
  4. No offer of a refund unfortunately! They should update their information so no one else falls into this little trap, but I doubt they will.
  5. Thought I'd provide an update for those interested. I emailed Iwata in February, but never heard back. I followed up with them in October and received a response and a solution. I have bought the 0.35 mm needle from Eclipse CS brush (I-617-2). This needle is long enough for the triple action handle. It also works with the 0.3 mm nozzle cap. I'm using my 0.5 mm needle packing screw with the needle. Pleased with the results and I can finally use the triple action handle with a finer needle on my BCR.
  6. Well, I had my question regarding the canopy answered. It flew with the full blown canopy. Unfortunately I won't be able to finish this build in time. I'm moving house over this week and have just packed all my kits and supplies away. I won't be seeing them again until the 9th. Good luck to everyone else with a build on the bench! You'll be seeing mine in the RFI forum in a month or so.
  7. Excellent. Thanks very much Hombee and baldeagle.
  8. Evening, all. I've been working on a Belgian Meteor F.8; the Airfix re-pop of the MPM mould. Airfix call for a full-blown canopy for the Belgian meteor in their boxing. The aircraft in the box is EG-47 of the 13th Day Fighter Wing. Now as far as I can tell the vast majority of Belgian F.8s were equipped with the half faired canopy. See the link below. http://www.belgian-wings.be/Webpages/Navigator/Photos/MilltaryPics/post_ww2/Gloster%20Meteor%20F.8/Gloster%20Meteor%20F.8%20Frontpage.html And from the same resource this particular aircraft carries the EG-47 on it's tail, but has different markings on the fuselage, so I'm not sure if it's the same aircraft as referenced by Airfix. Has anyone seen any images of EG-47 in it's later livery (if it's the same aircraft as pictured above) with a full blown canopy? Are there any resources which might help with my question? Any help appreciated.
  9. All finished! I ran out of time on the rockets when I realised I didn't have a green paint to give them a banding. This is my first attempt at weathering via salt chipping and my first proper attempt with pastels. My pastel work needs practice as the exhaust staining is far too light, but I'm happy with the overall dusting of red and brown pastels to simulate a dusty Vietnamese airfield. It's a big step up from my usual clean aircraft and something I'm going to need to work on and refine. Thanks to the hosts for organising this build and thanks for the extension. It's been fun! Pictures are in the gallery.
  10. 1/72 Monogram F8F-1B Bearcat. GC 1/9 "Limousin, based at Cat-Bi from 1951 - 1952. This is the aircraft of the group's second in command and carries a Fennec and black eagle on the cowlings in reverse order to the rest of the group.
  11. Looking forward to seeing the finished product in the new year. You've done a good job at taming it so far!
  12. This is coming along well. How do you plan on adding those prominent exhaust stains?
  13. Almost there! Canopy attached. Last of the small parts attached. I've gone over the aircraft with pastels on a brush. I'll need to redo the exhaust staining as it's not prominent enough. Haven't decided if I'll add the rockets. I've got a few days to decide.
  14. Front canopy attached and painted. Flat-coat applied. Pastel weathering to follow.
  15. Legend! That will give me time to finish my build. It was going to be very close otherwise.
  16. Thanks, Patrice. It's a little random in places as I was trying to simulate extra wear to break up the monotone midnight blue (I didn't get around to the post-shading). Decals all done. Final gloss coat to follow tomorrow.
  17. Gunze white acrylic applied to the tail. Decals to follow tomorrow. Lots to do over the next week or so! Midnight blue touch ups on the landing gear and fuel tank. Ordinance to be painted. Cockpit glass to be attached and painted. Flat coat. Pastels!
  18. An evening's work. I should have read the decal sheet more closely. I need to paint the rudder white as only blue and red stripes are provided on the sheet. I've left the rest of the markings off the tail so I can mask it this weekend. 10 days to go!
  19. Hmmm. I'd started on the gloss coat before reading this. I think I'll finish the gloss coat (needs another), place the decals and reassess. I think I'll need to use a sponge dipped in aluminium for the markings (if I'm feeling brave!) and I could follow up with some chromate.
  20. And here she is. Probably overdone in places. I think I'll dry brush some midnight blue to tone it down a tad. I'm happy with it and will definitely experiment with other models in time.
  21. Still at it. Might be a close call, but I'm still aiming for completion by the 27th. I've given up on the canopy for now (destroyed one vac-formed canopy) and have moved onto painting. Ready for paint. Silver undercoat. Jumping into the deep end with salt weathering. I've never tried anything like this before. A coat of Midnight Blue to follow tonight hopefully. Post-shading to follow before the salt comes off.
