@Ngantek @Col. Cheers guys. As both of you have said, caution seems to be the underlining answer. Also, it's normally accepted that decals are sealed in with a gloss coat afterwards, so if I repaint the Alclad, after sealing will put me back to square one...I'm leaning towards leaving everything as-is . Looking at the orange fuselage decals and the orange wings, it occurred to me that 'orange' of both should be a close match. After experimenting with white, grey and black primers, followed by Mr Color's Orange, the results showed that a base colour between the grey and white was needed, . So, after I tried a silver base before the orange and that turned out be pretty damn close. So, A gloss black base and Alclad Polished Aluminium got us here but I now needed to mask for for further painting and I have heard that masking over Alclad has its risks. I didn't want to risk that, so Awesome will have a coat gloss varnish before masking. Photos of Awesome show white parts at the tail end, so that's what it got. That gloss coat looks like it has knocked back the lustre of the polished aluminium . Mr Color's orange is on and looks good, decals will tell. Next will be the removal of the masking and see if the polished aluminium is 'polished' . If it's not, it looks like another round of masking to do the Alclad again. Can anybody tell me if I can decal straight onto Alclad? Stuart

Bits... Firstly, sorry for the fuzzy pic. All resin parts removed and cleaned. Would've liked an open turret but it isn't, ho-hum. Would've liked to have kept the rear wheels off until painting is finished but there's very little room to get the wheels in, so they're are fitted now. The Mk.II is a 4x4, unfortunately the rear drive shaft was too short, so plastic rod was used. Don't know where the front drive axle went as it 'pinged' away when I was trying to fit it and the present state of the 'cave' prevents exploration. A scratch front axle is in the process of being made and once cleaned-up, painted and weathered, no one will notice. The kit/instructions don't have/show an exhaust at the rear, so I'll knock something up to replicate that. Stuart

Just caught up with this build. Fantastic work Adrian, always wondered if one is able to get real wood that is fitting in this scale. I also have a tub of P38 because of its properties you state but never used it because I don't know the mixing ratio for such small quantities. Stuart

Here I go on my second build in this GB. This time it's a Morris Mk.II Armoured Car by Hauler in 1/72. The box Resin parts, some PE and some decals. Instructions. Looks like a relatively simple kit that is nice and crisp with only a little clean-up required, I haven't done much in the way of PE, so some attention will be given to get that right. Decals look good but we'll find out more when it comes to applying them. Stuart

Thanks Stuart. Having never done German camo, I was a little daunted about doing it. Looking at pics, I soon realised that no two tanks were the same, paints not same and application was by hand, broom, mop, spray gun. So, I applied most of it with small bit of sponge and just to be different, I painted one of the plates with a brush to make it look like it got pinched from another tank. Stuart

A little more done... Airframe and undercarriage doors were primed and painted black ready for Alclad. Undercarriage painted with Tamiya AS-12 and tyres painted with AK NATO black. My modelling buddie delivered the 3D spinners, works better than the earlier version. These were lightly sanded to get rid of the minimal striations, primed and painted white. The propeller blades are in the process of being painted but have been primed, given a white base for the yellow tips before being painted black. Stuart

Hi All. Recently completed is this Panzer IV Ausf H in 1/56 by Rubicon and was completed as part a model club group build where the kits were donated by our LMS. An odd scale and a manufacturer that I've never encountered before. I am no panzer officiado so I couldn't tell you if it's accurate or not but the instructions will tell you that F, F2, G and H versions can be built. The kit built up well with only a little filler needed. There is a jig in the kit to help you fit the turret armour. I added a scratch built box to the rear and removed one of the hull side plates to make it look a little different. Painted with AK paints. Kit decals are supplied but it's up to you to decide what and where to apply them. I think the scale of 1/56 is 28mm, so I think it's aimed at the wargamers(?) Sorry, no WIP. Stuart

Here is my rendition of my recently completed Guy Mk.1 Armoured Car as part of the Armoured Car & Halftrack GB here: The kit used was the Milicast 1/76 resin kit and although it had some nice detail, it also had a little damage, particularly the smaller parts. Thanks for looking.
