Kittyhawk Mk I (P-40D). Special Hobby 1/72.
Courageous replied to Andrés S.'s topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Great build Andrés. Nice to see it on contextual base. Will you be adding figure or something for scale? Stuart -
@81-er @modelling minion @psdavidson @dnl42 Thanks guys, much appreciated. I like putting my builds on bases nowadays, not always an easy thing to do if you're after period props like figs, etc. Appearances can be deceptive as far as the sea base is concerned as the gel was starting to set in the pot but I had nothing else and needed to finish the base, so it's the best of a bad job. The Mrs likes it. Stuart

HMS Havock 1893 - A class Torpedo Boat Destroyer

It's sorcery, sheer sorcery! Must be a nightmare clean-up job? Stuart -
Very interesting, so I too will tag along. Stuart

Thanks for that, just add a handle, thought that there would've been something like locking clips too? Thanks for the clarity. Stuart

Been busy, busy, busy on 1:1 stuff. Decided to tackle the Isotta Fraschini engines. These were resin parts and were fitted with plastic carburettors and exhaust ports. Unfortunately, one twin port went walkabout so a scratch option was made. Some cleaning up is still required. Also built up the radiator and a tank. Stuart

Hi guys. I've been rattling my head with a problem with a part that needed fitting on the top turret and I didn't know what it was. The instructions called for a part G18 and should look like a small round part but nothing like that existed at G18, just a 20mm long rod?! After trawling the net, I came across an image of the item and I believe that it's the gunners(?) vision port. So a scratch one. The turret is fully fitted out now except for the commanders hatch and MG. The kit called for folding and fitting 7 PE vision ports for the commanders cupola but lost 2, so scrapped the rest and scratch 7 others out of plastic. Question: I would like the commanders hatch open but I haven't found an image of the inner face of the hatch, any takers? Stuart

Thanks for saying so Cliff. Loving the detail but not enjoying the cleaning of parts that I have to hold in tweezers! It does but it's hard work getting there though. Other GB builds have grabbed my attention at the moment, should have an update tomorrow Stuart

Both. PE including railings can do a lot for 1/700 ships. Stuart -

As Jon says, nice and tidy. Can ask, what is base kit and the PE manufacturer? Stuart -

Nice work on Cornwall. Quite surprised that Trumpeter PE but not railings that help no end in my book. Well done. Stuart -
My second place marker is this Unlimited racer "Roto Finish" using the VERY limited run High Planes kit in 1/72. The box, no colour here. The plastic, some white metal and a vacform canopy. A quick inspection reveals some very rough plastic and I feel that I may be raiding a donor mustang for better options. Instructions . Stuart
