Hi All. This is my Churchill Mk1 Infantry Tank that I built about 7 years ago. This is the Cromwell Models resin kit that was mostly OOB but the filters were replaced with the later type that I also got from Cromwell Models, and the resin tracks were replaced with Friulmodel metal ones. Painted with Humbrol bronze green and weathered using acrylic pastels but kept to a minimum. This tank represents one vehicle from the North Irish Horse, Tunisia, 1942.

Thanks for viewing. C&Cs welcome.

Hi all. Here is my example of a Gloster Gladiator Mk1 of the Norwegian Air Force in 1940. It is the Roden kit that I built about 8 years ago when I was going through my WW2 fighter phase. Built OOB and if memory serves me correctly, it was a 'measure twice, cut once' type of kit. Also, being my first (and last) biplane, the rigging was a baptism of fire that I didn't particularly enjoy. IIRC, I used Humbrol aluminium as the overall doping colour, national markings were airbrushed on and the numerals were DIY using decal paper and my inkjet printer. Weathering was kept to the minimum using pastels.

Thanks for viewing. C & C's welcome.

Brilliant work you're doing
but would the seams be seen once the cowlings go on?

One very lovely model.

Tip-top, good modelling skills overcoming a CA kit.

Looking good...continue.

Beautiful & well presented.

I like it, it can be easy to over complicate the scene, yours is nice and simple, showing the subject with a simple base. Good effort.
My thoughts exactly...keep it simple. Don't want to get bogged down on the scene when I want to move onto the next model.

One fantastic build!
This is one thread I'll be keeping for the amount of detail and reference. I have the Hasegawa kit to build to put alongside a Sabre in Korea. I hope I can draw on enough of your work to produce an acceptable model.Well done.

Thanks for all the comments. As I said, it was my first but I'm not put off, just got to think about details like tracks and free standing walls.

This is the only vignette that I've ever done...about 8 years. I've always wanted to present my models as more than just a model but it just doesn't seem to happen.
Here, we have the Italeri Commando Car that was built basically OOB with a few little tweaks. The figures are from Dragon's SAS kit. The wall I stumbled across somewhere, it looked right scale wise. I coated it roughly with filler, leaving a couple of sections bare, I think it worked well. I don't think I'll be a figure painter, many a modellers nemesis, might explain why I've avoided the faces.

What's your thoughts please, should I continue with the idea of vignettes?

Hi all. Thought I'd post a couple of models that I built some 14 years ago.
Here we have my effort of producing the RAF Aerocobra of 601 Sqn, Duxford, 1941. IIRC, this started from the Monogram kit and enhanced with PE and a little scratch building. Can't remember where the decals came from.

Here we have my effort of producing a Spitfire Mk II(LR) of 152 Sqn, 1941. IIRC, this started from the Tamiya Mk I kit and the slipper tank was scratch built by scaling up 1/72 example that I had. Again, can't remember where the decals came from.

Hope you like. Comments & criticisms welcome.

A very beautifully made and painted Gannet... of one of the ugliest planes ever made, in my opinion!

I must agree with this comment...a lovely model none the less.

C'est la vie!

Now that's a very nice Sheridan.

I have a number of Sabres to build before I attempt the TF. It has been a while since I've tackled a vacform but I'm looking forward to the challenge. If the Heller is indeed the 'short cord' then that'll how it will stay. Most of the pics I've seen show these a/c with the short cord and no guns, may still have to deploy the slats though...we'll see.

-
It has a vac canopy and fuselage. I don't remember if it also has a new cockpit tub, but I think it does. The wing mounting to the fuselage is set up for the Heller kit. You could probably use others, but there might be some trimming and filling of areas that don't match up with the Heller kit. The TF-86s built were based on block 30 (for the first conversion) and block 35 (for the second conversion) F model aircraft. From the pictures I have in a book on the F-86, there is no wing fence and they have slats. Both aircraft initially had the short chord wing, not the 6-3 wing, and I think that Heller is the only one that has that wing. The first aircraft was destroyed in a crash, and the second aircraft had two guns installed. It was later fitted with an F-40 wing. Aero Reserach ( http://www.aeroresearchcds.com/) has an excellent reference book on making any model of the F-86 and FJ Fury.
Later,
Dave
Thanks for all the info Dave, much appreciated. Just ordered my Heller kit and we'll see how it goes. Think I'll spash some cash towards 'Aero Research' also, think that'll be very handy.

I like that...a lot! Very nice.

Hi helpful people (hopefully). As part of my ongoing Sabre project, can anyone tell me about the Falcon conversion (FNC007) in this regard. I can't find anything about what the kit contains, so I don't know what else to source. I think the kit is geared towards the Heller kit but can others be used?
TIA

Preparation before NMF?

Help required from the experts...
Currently I have a couple of builds that will end with NMF. These builds are undergoing surgery and together with fit problems, will require filling of some sort. I have read somewhere that your normal filler will be no good as this shows up in the NMF models. I know that I can use superglue for small gaps as this can be sanded and 'polished' before the coat(s) go on. What do you guys suggest to my query? As a 'heads-up' I will be using Humbrol Metalcote for my NMF.
TIA
