  1. @MACALAIN @Lightningboy2000 @robgizlu @Vesa Jussila @longshanks Thanks peeps for popping by. Stuart
  2. As aerodynamic as a brick. Good fix on the windscreen and the non-problematic tail plane is a bonus Stuart
  3. A gentle start... Parts removed from sprue, cleaned up and washed in soapy water. I am pretty sure that more work will be needed when I start building the thing. Stuart
  4. A little further forward... After sanding back the 'gloop' around that door area, the assy got a blast of primer and as expected, the multitude of seams require some attention. Also noted that there was one or two 'sinks' in the plastic, not too bad but still needed doing. More filling and sanding on the spinner. Pilot has also been painted. Stuart
  5. Slowly, slowly to catch a money... And the lower wings have their slots and are now setting in with epoxy. Next stop, the tail end...maybe. Stuart
  6. They're going to be very big? What about wrapping some fine wire around a suitable sized dill bit. Remove the drill bit and yous should be left with something that looks like a coil. Cut down the middle of the 'coil' with a sharp blade and you should be left with lots of rings. Works for me in my diorama work. Stuart
  7. You've a veritable shipyard going on here Jon...excellent. Stuart
  8. I still can't get my head around this design, interesting in an odd sort of way. it looks like you're knocking it into shape . Stuart
  9. I think some kind of madness has come over me . With the F6C stopping and starting between bouts of epoxy gluing and the Spitfire skipping along, I thought I'd get this one on the starting blocks. Here is the next build of 'Mr Awesome', a highly modified Yak 11 unlimited racer with a T-33 tail produced by High Planes in 1/72. Never built a High Planes kit and haven't even opened the box to see what its like 'till now... The box, no pretty picture here. The erm...parts...I think, in a pretty light blue plastic. Instructions...I have had worse. A vac canopy, metal undercarriage parts and a decal sheet that doesn't look too bad. Stuart
  10. @arfa1983 Cheers Arthur. I think the stuff I was using was nearing its end-of-life, so I opened another pack, carried out an experiment and it worked great, so... I mixed up a little and fixed in the wing supports, all being good I'll move to the next step. Stuart
  11. I like the 'young' bit, thanks. Yes you are right about my waywardness but with some good GBs, I needed to do a little bit of 'shelf clearance' but hopefully the New Year will see me back onto the Fushimi Maru and others. A GR.9, will there be a WIP or will it just pop-up like this Tucano? Stuart
  12. Follow along although I wouldn't say I'm any kind of authority on Spitfires. Nothing special, I just fill in the holes with plastic rod and filler and smooth it all down. Suits me but most probably not the purest. Anyways... The wings needed the elliptical tips added which was a little bit of a faff, one wing/tip was thicker than its mating part, so a bit of sanding and scribing was needed. As is usual with me, a little mishap happened with the scribing, so a repair is in process. The wing radiators were painted up and fitted. Cannons were also fitted. Acquired some interior green and painted the parts that required it. With the cockpit able to go in from underneath, I decided to build the fuselage that included the Griffin engine nose and the spine. It's great that this has modular parts for Fujimi but it adds extra work with making all the joins good. Instructions tell you to fill in the access doors on both sides of the fuselage, so out with the gloop. I'm sure that once that is sorted and the model primed, many seems will need attention. Earlier you saw virtually a none existent cockpit where I was going to place my pilot. Figuring out the figure to the seat and seat height in cockpit was making my head hurt a little until I came up with an idea. This was an Airfix pilot from a Spitfire kit that was most probably not going to get built, so I robbed the cockpit parts and oxygen tanks(?). This fits nicely in the Fugimi fuselage, so in it will go. Pilot being painted as we speak. Stuart
  13. Maybe I'll do one one day but not just yet. Well, you being 'Billy' this week should enable you to get everything done then. But then, some movement is better than none, ask Vosper Stuart
  14. Your research and work must take you so much time, don't see how you have time to eat, sleep and breath. Stuart
  15. Beautiful work. Great looking sub and sea setting, very Kostas looking. Stuart
  16. A detour into aviation Rob and you've produced a beaut, well done. Now get back to where belong...maritime. Stuart
  17. Not a car builder myself but your build has scrubbed-up rather nicely and looks great. Stuart
