  1. Hi- Is this the same type/ sub type (?!) Not sure if these pics are of any use. This is a replica Etrich Taube at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in New Zealand. ( Sir Peter Jackson, of WingNut models fame, chairs the trust )
  2. What a splendid model .... and good to see its inhabited!
  3. I'd be happy with it Flankerman I'm surprised it wasn't a tail sitter in real life! (Next time I get back to the UK it will be straight to Michael's Butchers for a breakfast then a shufti to the Smoking Dog to see if its changed - hope they survive)
  4. Hi Gary - Well, the ALCOA smelter and Ford have both gone but Geelong is a still great place. As for slot car racing then the annual Geelong Revival Motoring Festival may pique your interest especially with the quarter mile sprints along the waterfront. You can book now for November but not sure how the COVID will pan out ...... and you need a car! Look us up if you get over here
  5. Hi. Here is the Moorabbin Beau This was the one rescued from the children's playground in the article. Beaufort restoration in he foreground. Great museum to potter about in.
  6. Not odd at all Chrispisme. With four you would be Flight Leader, Lead Wingman, Element Lead or Element Wingman depending on where you want to position yourself. When you get to twelve we would call you a Squadron Leader ... might even salute you !
  7. Hi Michael - I'm in the same boat as it were (!). I have been looking at videos on You Tube and will be using casting resin. It seems that a good recommendation is to always have a practice session first if starting out. Another way is maybe following how Michael Jack did his wonderful diorama of the Apollo 13 recovery. Sorry my photos are a bit blurred! This used a wooden base (bit like a deep picture frame) with a Perspex sheet laid on top as the main components. He wrote an article on the build in ModelArt Australia magazine back in 2014. In the article he says he used some Perspex (bought from a hardware store) that had an embossed ripple effect pattern which looked like water. He covered it in epoxy to a depth of about 2mm and used a large brush to create waves. He added more epoxy to replicate further detail including the helicopter wash. The interior of the wooden base was painted dark blue. The divers legs were glued to the underside of the Perspex along with the sea anchor and parachute. The parachute is not clear in my photo- its the light blur to the left of the capsule. The capsule was scratchbuilt. Hope that helps!
  8. Yep, that's a bit hot- you should come and join us here in Oz (heading into winter now)
  9. Thanks for sharing - would love to go. Have also been comparing some of the lawn shots with my own sad patch! (Sorry about the loss of pics - has happened to me too - Argh!)
  10. Thanks for sharing Mr TMB! - really interesting set of shots- Did you get a pic of the Flogger by any chance?
  11. Thanks rossm and John - really appreciated! The cutaway is a massive help
  12. Hi - Hope you are all well. With the lockdown I have finally started on my attempt to convert the Frog Westland PV6 Wallace to a Wapiti. While searching for photos of the observer/gunner position I came across this footage on the manufacture of Wapitis on You Tube : https://youtu.be/3mXPvIFtd38 Love the way the ailerons are tested at 4.06! (by the way, does anyone have any photos of the observer/gunner position? - was there a foldaway seat? )
  13. Wow - very nice, very nice indeed You weren't watching The Bridges at Toko-Ri on 9Gem the other day were you? Mine had been stuck on the shelf for ages when the film came on the other Saturday and got I inspired. Finished it off only last night as it happens. Not a patch on yours though!
  14. I hope the security at any forthcoming airshows is beefed up this time round
  15. What a fantastic finish there . I nearly choked on my coffee laughing when I saw your name! Thanks for making my day and cheering me up (grey day here). Stay well in the Adelaide Hills Mr D!
