Great idea and wonderfully executed.
One thing puzzles me though - how are they going to rescue the cat when they don't appear to have a ladder?

Trying to break out of an airliner is one thing, but trying to break in … ?
I read somewhere there's a specific law against this in Canada. Maybe why they haven't yet (as far as I know) based a 007 film there.

I just managed to buy one of these last month. The result is bound to be disappointing after seeing this!
Truly amazing level of detail you've managed to achieve on such a small kit. A really stunning result.

I actually disagree with the premise that you need all thus stuff to get started. Some things are essential, e.g. suitable cement/glue, others strongly recommended, e.g. files/sandpaper, others can wait and be built up as you progress. For painting I'd start with a selection of decent brushes, the paint colours listed for the first model and a clear coat to seal the decals. Add thinner and brush cleaner. If you start with an airbrush the choice of paint type may be different than if you only use brushes. With each new model add only the new paint colours, and you'll slowly build up a good range of colours. Try adding one new technique (with the relevant new tool if needed) with each build - if you try too many new things at once you'll likely get frustrated.

Did you know that while English cheese is made from butter, French cheese is made from marge?

Villach .. beautiful part of Austria , I worked 18 months in klagenfurt for Nokia Siemens networks. Didn’t want to leave, met so many friendly amazing people.
Welcome Gemini 8 to BM

I'm standing at a bus stop in Villach right now. It's a beautiful sunny day with great views of the snow-topped mountains.

Welcome and greetings from Carinthia!

I might be interested if they were 1:20. 1:24 is the wrong scale for open-wheel racing cars. Revell have the same problem.

After another major attempt at cleaning all parts, and finally managing to separate the two halves of the cup, the problem persisted. More searching on You Tube finally solved it. I had been hand-tightening the cap after seeing a recommendation that this was sufficient. It isn't - tightening the cap further with the spanner provided has curedthe problem.
-
I've now used mine a few times. The first time I tried to clean it the trigger fell out and it took me over an hour of searching on You Tube and fiddling with it to get it reassembled. I've had some success with it and now bought a cleaning set for it. I'm suffering from exactly the same bubbling in the paint cup that you describe. I've never managed to separate the two sections of the front cap - could there be a blockage in there or am I being too cautious when pushing in the needle? Working out if there's paint in the nozzle is tricky - it seems to be just metal so I could probably soak it overnight in Revell airbrush cleaner (which I suspect is just IPA) and then use the cleaning brushes and wires on it.
Any advice would be welcome.

There are satisfactory out-of-the-pot matches for some colours like RLM02 and 66.
Which paint do you use for RLM02? I have a cockpit waiting for this and wasn't sure which was the right shade.

Thinned with a few drops of their own brand thinner, the satin paints leave a great finish when brush painted. Unthinned they sometimes dry a bit shiny.

I just opened one of these from my wife and kids for Christmas. Before I open it and scan in the instructions, can someone tell me if it's any good? I've read bad reports on budget airbrushes and it's still sealed, so I could ask her if I can take it back and buy a more professional set-up. On the other hand, if it'll get me started and give me useful experience, the politically correct option would be to use it for a few years and "grow out of it" and get a better one once I've found out how useful it is. If it's just going to frustrate me and put me off airbrushing for life, I'd rather come clean while she feels I was more generous than she was

I'd also be careful which paints and solvents you use in a shed with a gas fire. Anything which isn't water based is likely to be giving off flamable vapours.

Stopping their discounting has hit their sales hard, partly because much of the discounted products are still for sale somewhere. While their gross margins have improved, their costs haven't fallen in proportion to their fall in turnover. If they don't grow sales enough to cover these overheads they'll never turn a profit. Looks to me like they need around a 50% increase in sales and pretty quickly.

The Stratos dashboard is stunning in the detail you've been able to highlight.
Of course the rest of the cars are great too, but to see so much accuracy on a barely visible part shows your attention to detail.
Well done!

The devil in me would love to know what the licencing rates are for a model kit from Boeing etc...
I watched a documentary on Star Wars toys last night. The company that made the original toys acquired a universal and eternal licence for 5% of sales with a minimum payment of $10k per year. This was regarded as ludicrously cheap. After they thought the franchise was finished they stopped paying so the licence expired. When the second trilogy started there was an auction and they (who had been bought by Hasbro in the meantime) had to pay 18%, which they weren't sure would still allow them to make a profit and wasn't exclusive (Lego had another licence, for example).
I suspect Boeing charge somewhere between 5% and 18%.

My prediction is Revell will be moving even more into British subjects as this caters for likely the largest market in Europe, with a still - compared to Germany - quite healthy base of brick & mortar or concrete points of sale.
I think the German market may be bigger for companies in the Airfix/Revell/Heller/Italeri sector of the market. Every town has a "Müller" carrying a decent range of mostly (90%) Revell kits and accessories. The chain is something of a cross between the old Woolworths, WHS and Boots, selling cosmetics, music, computer games, toys and stationery.

Could be worse. Maybe the new tooling is for end-opening boxes

If you plan to brush paint with Revell aqua, I'd recommend getting a bottle of their thinner - it really helps the paint settle without brush marks. You only need one drop mixed in, so a bottle will last forever.

The "BIG" statement doesn't just mean scale. It means size as well.
Actually I think the "big" refers to the significance of the announcement, not the size of the kit (which might still be big, but isn't necessarily).
