  1. Although I've been a fan of U2 since 1983, I don't think October qualifies. It's a great album, but it hasn't had the public recognition. Achtung Baby would certainly qualify, so the question is whether Rattle & Hum is a classic album to give the same length of sequence. Again, probably not. I would, however include Under a Blood Red Sky. Although it's a live album, it's such a definitive capture of the band at that stage in their career I think it's an indisputable classic. I think a case can also be made for Simple Minds from New Gold Dream through to Real Life, although the latter is certainly weaker than the preceding four albums.
  2. Lucky it didn't attach itself to the model!
  3. Mk 1 Fiesta at the Bletchley test centre in 1984 (2nd attempt).
  4. I've encountered that symbol on Hasegawa car kits - there it means that an existing hole should be filled, which would confirm the explanation above.
  5. Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I thought you meant that the TV only had antenna signal input (which I found hard to believe), rather than that the satellite input was only via an antenna signal. I'm pleased to see the solution of using a smart TV did indeed work for you, especially as it turns out that you had one all the time!
  6. I've had some struggles with my very basic airbrush, but give it good paint thinned correctly and it gives a great finish. In my experience (admittedly as a beginner), using well-behaved paint is the key.
  7. I think that is your problem. I thought all 4k TVs have at least HDMI inputs (though not always enough of them), if not USB or optical inputs. I suspect you may be better off buying a new smart TV with built-in satellite decoder.
  8. I think it's been called that in Turkish since the foundation of the modern republic. The change is that they're trying to insist on, and seem to have largely succeeded in, is everyone using the Turkish name for the country rather than the English name. It'd be like having to start calling Italy "Italia" all the time. While they're obviously free to call the country whatever they like in Turkish, personally I don't see why they should have the right to impose a change on the English language.
  9. I'm quite prepared to accept "impacted" as unfortunately 90 per cent of the time the alternative won't be "affected", it'll be "effected".
  10. The best defence to this is the frequent use of adjectives. If our ancestors had referred to having a creepy uncle or a reclusive nuncle, none of this consonant creepage would have occurred.
  11. That looks great. Were the JPS decals included with the kit? I have the Lotus 72 and had to buy aftermarket ones.
  12. It's been a regular in the range in various versions recently. See for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/Revell-RV07713-24-Trabant-Builders-Unpainted/dp/B09Q6DD7MQ
  13. I find this statement from the HMRC somewhat worrying, as it seems to me to show a total lack of understanding of the collectables market. A complete set has more value to the collector . To a dealer it is the opposite. Imagine a set of ten items and ten collectors each missing one (different) item. Each of those collectors will value their missing item more than those they already have, as that is the item to complete their set. Dealers can buy up complete sets and break them so sell each of the individual items to a different collector seeking precisely that item and thus make a profit. Any stamp catalogue, for example, will show a price for the complete set which is lower than the sum of the prices for the individual stamps in the set. The only time this breaks down is if the items are so scarce that they can't be found individually. This suggests some HMRC employees might see profit where there is none unless you can provide evidence to the contrary.
  14. That's making their 1/24 cars more expensive than the Japanese, unless they expect to shift them at a big discount. I guess they plan to sell at full retail on the high street (where they still have a mainstream presence in Germany via the Müller Chain) and at big discounts via Amazon.
  15. Not only that, but the cockerel on the decals doesn't match the one in the photo on the tin.
  16. It looks like it's based on Suzuka, but Suzuka is a figure of eight circuit, this one isn't.
  17. If we're after 50th anniversary schemes, how about 1:12 scale Franz Beckenbauer and Johann Cruyff?
  18. That's as close to perfection as I've ever seen.

    Really???

I've been watching old episodes of Pointless. The reaction of one woman was priceless when her partner in reply to the question "Name a country with a coastline on the Pacific Ocean" could only come up with Egypt....
  20. I wonder how they're going to reconcile the "if it's fitted it must be working" rule with the latest trend of "it's fitted anyway but you have to pay a subscription to use it". Will we be forced to pay for the whole feature set for one day every year to pass the test?
  21. Typical of a 24 hour news channel : "Coming up after the break, we report on how building models is in resurgence and look at how Airfix is once again thriving". If you're lucky, there'll be a two minute report about three hours later. If you're unlucky, a has-been celebrity will die during the next hour and the rest of the day the channel will cover nothing else but the highlights of their career and a series of tributes.
  22. With many companies the order confirmation email address is only for outgoing messages - replying to this email might result in the message not being read.
  23. Last year there was a KITT replica at the US car show in Faak am See in southern Austria. That event is on again this coming weekend. Maybe the car was on its way here for a repeat appearance.
  24. Brabham Alfas used a flat 12 cylinder in the second half of the 1970s, e.g. BT46.
  25. 13% sounds very odd for a credit card purchase in US dollars. I'd expect no more than 5% including fees and exchange rate spread. Are there any foreign currency restrictions on your card? Was it in a country that doesn't use US dollars as it's currency? Did it go through as a cash withdrawal (these often have higher fees and often don't have any interest free period)? In my experience letting the bank do the conversion can be cheaper, but it's rarely more than 1-2% more expensive than other options.
