  1. I was looking at 3d printing for weapons, it's not that expensive if you can design them on a sprue, but you need CAD knowledge to design them correctly in the first place! If I were Airfix, I'd be creating as many 3D CAD models as I could, invest in industrial 3D printers, list all the models on the site and say, order whatever you want (for a slightly higher price) and we print it, if models are inaccurate you just modify the CAD model, no more expensive masters/moulds that take ages to modify I realise thats a simplistic way of looking at things, but he who dares wins, Rodney!
  2. Can't access this at work, is the one where they say how the carrier ops are working up to a possible conflict with China...?
  3. How can it swing him around, the strings will get tangled!!
  4. I was actually just reading up on the bombing of the Torrey Canyon, apparantly 25% of the 42 bombs dropped by the RAF and Navy missed the giant, stationary oil tanker...? High five on that one!! Still I'm pretty sure they were taking a lot of incoming fire...
  5. A lot has changed in 50 years, I expect they will spend most of their time saving us from ISIS (IS...ISIL...?!), ebola and global warming...
  6. They are making the decision on the P-8 at the next SDSR (2015), which means they wont... Would it not make sense to have one common airframe with mission specific payloads, therefore cutting down on training, spares and operating costs?!
  7. Cheers guys, sure I can wait until November, especially for 2 of them!! Think I might have to go with the Mk.2 though, just because they were my favorite as a kid...and it looks cooler...
  8. Had a look on Hannants at what Olimp do, just weapons wise you're looking at; Typhoon update: 4x EPWII Tornado update: 2x PWIV and 3x Brimstone (inc triple launcher) GR7/9 update: 2x EPWII and 2x PWIV £15.99 each (but that's obviously including other parts/decals!), I wish I could make resin copies myself...!
  9. Maybe I'm just being a dullard (not the first time) but I can't seem to find somewhere to buy any Battlestar Colonial Vipers in 1/72...? Any help would be appreciated!
  10. I imagine most people have seen this, but one of the members here was at RIAT and has some nice images of the RAF Typhoon with D-Day invasion stripes... I have posted a link, hopefully that is ok? http://www.totallyrad.co.uk/riat14/
  11. Now there's a job for the new LAC, cleaning the radioactive dust off airplanes...
  12. I would keep it pretty much as standard as possible, I'm going to try and build ISO containers for the mission equipment so that they can be removed and it can be used as troop transport again! It's interesting that the replacement for the prop driven P-3 is a jet powered P-8, wonder if that is operational reasons or cost based? If I'm honest most modern jets are a bit boring looking, hence trying to modify them a bit...
  13. Having a few ideas, nothing crazy like a B-52 designed to carry F-5 freedom fighters instead of bombs... just wondered what people thought... 1) Hawk 100 as a fully operational aircraft carrying PWIV and a TIALD pod. 2) Harrier GR9 carrying 2x Storm Shadow missiles in arctic camo (a What-if we didn't retire her... 3) An A400m to replace the Nimrod, with torpedos, possible Harpoon ASM, carrying ISO containers that have mission specific kit in them... Thinking that will keep me going for a while, especially the A400...?
  14. I remember there was a newsagents in Plymouth-Cornwall street possibly (tiny shop, literally 8ft wide) that stocked models, a huge amount considering how small it was, and I loved that shop, havn't been back to Plymouth in years but pretty sure its closed...I'd love to hear different...
  15. I really hope that bloke watching the MIG-31 take off has ear-defs on...
