  4. Tuesday was the opening day for this year's MAKS. Due to the fact Russian president Putin opened the salon, security measures were extremely tight and lots of us missed the first part of the show and had to watch it from the queue lines, including Ilyushin formation, Tupolev formation along with MiG-29K and OVT escort, Su-34 demo,... Also the first day the lightning was very bad because of humid atmosphere and burning earth a few kilometers away from the airfield, which produced a brownish tint to the skies... Conditions that proved bad for the photographers... also due to the opening day, there was not a lot of flying display.... However here are some pics from the first day: Strizhi and Russian Knights performed together - a magnificent view and excellent alltogether display... A scene for Sci-Fi fans 2 decades ago, reality today Pantsir M1 - you don't wanna be on the receiving end of this beast Impressive array of weapons underneath the wing of Su-30MK demonstrator Russia's new missiles New "uber"-long range AA missile New anti-ship missile Novator 3M-54AE
  5. So I have a huge number of photos from this years visit to MAKS... They've already been posted on ARC... Anyone still wants to see them posted here? Here's a teaser pic:
  6. Woohoo Planes you don't so so often, even less as models... And you've done justice to them! Cheers!
  7. Nice one... sorry to see though that you used russian cockpit green for thje interior (should be grey)...
  8. If you buy this set you won't regret it - best value for money!
  9. Here's the reason why there were no updates on my current in-progress builds... I've got an order for a customer to build these two airliners until October 15th... So all my spare time is devoted to these two birds Current progress Pics of real things
  10. OK I managed to glue the fuselage halves together. The joints will require some attention but nothing serious I guess... since I had the barrel together I want to see how it looks with wings attached. So I dryfitted the wings and the tail and to my surprise, the wings fit almost perfect while the tail has a wide gap at the root in front and will have to be filled with styrene and putty...
  11. Looks great! I guess the rigging is the only reason why I haven't tackled a WW1 fighter so far...
  12. The battle is going on. But I'm on the winning side so far. I intend to close the fuselage halves tonite, when I get home from work, so I guess the next two days will be puttying and sanding days... This is my first Amodel build and I knew It's gonna be a real PITA but since Amodel produces a lot of interesting subjects and I have around 15 years of modelling behind me, I will fight it till the day it goes on the display shelf...
  13. Wow it looks wonderful! Which colours did you use for the aircraft?
  14. Some creative thoughts, a blade saw and a bit of fear and I managed to fix the problem... But for what cost? This is how the cockpit construction looked like originally... There were sidewalls and some details on them... but since it was the most probable cause of the bad fit, I decided to remove the side walls of the pit and leave just the cockpit floor and the construction beneath it, which is front wheelwell... At the end, I was left with this: And a quick look to see the fit... The seam is gone! But actually there's little to no place on the fuselage halves to create any additional details, so I decided I'm gonna just close the fuselage halves since there won't be a lot to see anyway through canopy (which will need a lot of polish/Future treatment)...
  15. whooo I have an Airfix Jag Gr3 in the stash... this decals would look good on it any news on the release date?
  16. it just seems that the cockpit tub is too wide for the fuselage... I managed to remove some thick plastic from the inside of the halves and the gap was reduced a bit, but still not enough... I might cut the cockpit's side walls off and attach the cockpit floor with seat to the bottom fuselage and try conforming sidewalls to the fuselage halves...
  17. Thanks for the comments, guys! I didn't experience any bigger problems with An-124 build... Next one I'll build, will be fully opened with Soviet trasnport aviation markings and loaded with tanks or Sukhois... the main bugger is decalling - more than 400 stencil decals over the wings
  18. some more Czech Sokol in SAR scheme Belgian F-16AM also left nice memories of the show Last year I met a British guy, that flew in Brno with Ryanair, the hotels and apartments are cheap, so is food and their excellent beer... Hot Dog price at an airshow was 1€ IIRC.
