  1. Initial steps on the Comet and the two Cromwells for comparison The Comet is only dry-fitted/white tacked at present. Initial thoughts - the gun looks a tad small compared to my PSC Firefly 17pdr so I'll have to check it for scale to put my mind at rest. The rest of the parts look good on an initial inspection and I cannot wait to progress it. I'll have to avoid being distracted by an ACE Models Sho't Kal Gimel/Dalet that arrived here the other day, the need to complete my Merkava, T90 and Panzerhaubitz that seem to have been hanging around for ever not to mention the part built Tigger II and Panzer III.........
  2. Excellent build. Well done. Looks a larger scale than 1/72.
  3. Good build of an unusual design. I suppose it was ideal for keeping the pilots' rear end warm...............................
  4. Terrific work here. Looks really good even though not yet finished. The running gear is spectacular. Looking forward to future developments.
  5. Very nice build. Colouring and weathering look great. Always strikes me what a good aiming point for an 88 is provided by the big white star when painted on the front of allied armour.
  6. Just received a Vespid Comet 1B, a gift from my better half. Destructions and sprue pics are here on the Henk of Holland site. Kit looks well detailed - metal barrel, resin covered mantlet and there's even a PE turret roof commanders gun sight (birdcage sight?)!
  7. @Retired Bob IMHO this is the best way for L&L tracks. I tried pre-painting but found it made construction trickier than it needed to be, I have now used this method on a Tiger I, a Pz III, a T-80BV, a T90, a Panzerhaubitz and a Merkava III - all in 1/72. Your work here looks really good, especially your Stug. Hope you find the CA and metal tracks works as well as the builds above.
  8. I just picked ochre as a light dusty colour. Your new washes look good to go. Only use acrylics. Enamel can sometimes attack track material. I would stick them. Model cement for the wheels and CA for the tracks. Gluing the tracks will enable a realistic sag off the sprocket - provided the tracks are long enough.
  9. I've read some unflattering reviews of this particular kit. You have made a very effective job of building and painting it.
  10. Excellent work on kit and pics. Thought the first one was a reference pic.
  11. Very inspiring. Really like your weathering on the running gear. Something to aim at for my Cromwells - actually all my tracked armour........
  12. @themcgarvie Very very very thin mix of Humbrol ochre acryllic over the whole vehicle. Let it dry before 2nd coat applied if needed. Matt enamel well thinned would also suffice. I call it lighthouse paint - blinking near water........................... Perhaps try it on the underside first? Have a gander at the latest posts on my Tiger II thread I'm not saying I'm anything like expert but this worked fo my build.
  13. A light dusty coloured wash will help lighten the green. Worked wonders on my Revell Tigger II. (IMHO)
  14. Tremendous work. Great detail. The cam and weathering looks just as it should. Unfortunate that so much of that interior is hidden but a transparent hull would make cam and weathering a bit tricky...............
  15. Very impressive start to finish! Bet you're chuffed - at least, you should be!
  16. All the above + lots of bells. Really great build. That hessian cam is really effective. I was thinking of trying something similar in 1/72. Having seen your work I'm inspired to attempt it now.
  17. Those tools look terrific and that cam looks really complicated. Looking forward to seeing it done.
  18. Saw another one just like this somewhere very recently! Both are excellent builds with really fine detail.
  19. Great work. Looking forward to seeing future developments.
  20. I have 2x Zvezda T34/85 and SU100. I found the tracks fiddley to fit having pre painted all the running gear, including the tracks with humbrol matt enamel. They needed sticking to the wheels to get proper sag effect.
  21. Works well for link and length tracks too. Great work here!
  22. Great builds. Are the ERA blocks scratched or after-market?
