Hi Ron, Looking great, really coming together, the added detail is fantastic. The only things I would mention are the seat belts for '75 and '76 should be blue and say KLIPPAN twice on each belt, once above and once below the shoulder adjuster. (in '74 they were blue Willans and in '77 blue Arexons). The tub could also do with a polish! They were quite shiny in the day, not as shiny as todays pampered cars, but the mechanics had quite a lot of pride in their cars! Malc.

Hi Putty, No problem. The fuz coolers are for the engine oil system. There are some interesting articles in Flight magazine February 1928 (which sadly is no longer online) which also say the wings were covered in the water coolers and which "have a perfectly smooth exterior". Malc.

Re wings, here you go this is the best of what I have. The wings appear to be really smooth, and as you say covered in chordwise strips of ply. I think as the aircraft got older the joins became more apparent, but I believe they were still not proud of the surface. Hope this helps. Malc.

Thats great! Have you seen the 1:1 card models by Malcom Topp? They are incredibly well designed and make up in to very good models of the real thing in flight. Google Malcolm Topp bird mobile. There are about 10 in the range. M.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Malc.

Thats great. Is there any way you can soften the transition between the wing ribs and the wing fabric, or is that a limitation of the software? Malc. -
The workmanship going in to this is superb. I think you have captured the shapes of the full size really well. There is a team currently trying to raise funds to build a full size flying replica, although it appears they do not plan to use a Napier Lion as power. Malc.

Really nice, I too have never heard of the Hino Contessa until now, the 1300 sprint version looks like a really attractive car. Malc.

Thanks Gents. Evenin' All. Time for another update. Paint, well good/bad news……. Seat went well, one fish eye appeared, I was a bit surprised as I thought the primer would isolate from the effects of any silicone in the resin. Body went OKish, more fish eyes appeared in the most inaccessible area - the front radiator vents. The finish is direct from the can. Radiator vents Rear wing, well no fish eyes, but DISASTER. it fell off the mounting stick on to the floor. Serves me right, I usually use bluetac, but this time for some brain fade reason I used double sided tape. Floor fur in the paint The plan was to spray the wing apart from the outside of one end plate, let it dry and then mask the rest and finish the end plate, this worked well on the Lotus…….. Finger prints from where I picked it up. Time to leave it all for a few days, let the disappointment fade and come back with a fresh outlook. On with the reserve model! Which in contrast is going quite well despite some major dissection and reassembly of expensive resin castings. Malc.

You're far too tidy! Use baking powder instead, or flour, or any other white powder you happen to have to hand.........

Well what do you know, as I predicted in my first post, pre orders now open for the Ebbro 005! https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10772562 M,

Fantastic!

No it wasn't, it was one of several sketches Roy submitted to Airfix (I believe he did this for all Airfix commissions), before making the final colour submission based on the chosen sketch. (That's why it has NO written on the top RH corner!) I think this below was the only Roy Cross Dauphine header, in the rain with what looks like some opposite lock action!! Malc.

Hi Jörgen, As usual you are doing a great job on this. I did not know this Airfix kit existed! How about this for a bit of memorabilia? A Roy Cross Dauphine Airfix box art drawing! (I will attach the picture as well, so when the ebay link dies the picture will remain in the thread). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIRFIX-RENAULT-DAUPHINE-ORIGINAL-ROY-CROSS-ARTWORK/331422811295?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180816085401%26meid%3Dda688d5afbee4e9aa88d02302c08a036%26pid%3D100970%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D331422811295%26itm%3D331422811295%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DAirfix&_trksid=p2380057.c100970.m5481&_trkparms=pageci%3A999d9760-9221-11eb-898b-06c851888e22|parentrq%3A886275aa1780a7b1f20d6d7cffe0f96a|iid%3A1 Malc.

Thanks for the offer of the pics, just take what you can with a modeller in mind! M.

Thanks David, I wanted to make sure this edition had the drawings, as I want to get a copy. M. PS, pack the hole in the coaming with some of that resin dust then add a drop of superglue, takes seconds and is instantly ready to sand, no waiting for filler to dry! No shrinkage either.
-
Will follow this if you don't mind. Can I ask if that edition of the book has the line drawings included of the engine and cockpit? Malc. (not far from you!).
-
That looks really nice, the extra details and the wheels really set it off well. Are you going to make any more versions? M.

G’day me hearties. Not much to report this week, I have been a bit distracted by another temptress........... The next job I had been putting off was making the mirror supports, each mirror is supported with three 0.5mm pieces of piano wire. Fiddly but worked out. Drilling all the holes at approx the right angle in each mirror and the cockpit was not easy. Still some trimming to do on the LH support. Bagged ready for post paint fitting. I really can’t think of anything else I need to make or modify, so all that remains is to slap on one more layer primer then a top coat of Tyrrell blue then post it in RFI……. Oh wait…… There is more? Oh yes. Problem is I filled the holes in the rear wing that I used for the wire handle with the wing support brackets, so how am I going to hold it now while applying the top coat……..? I also recently discovered that there are a couple of wing flap adjusting brackets on the underside of the rear wing, so they were added. Tape to accurately locate the brackets and keep the epoxy where its wanted. Tape removed immediately while the glue is still liquid. Parts were then cut roughly to shape with sprue cutters and final sanded to shape after glue had set as they were too small to easily hold in my fat fingers. So now the body is really ready for paint – I think…..perhaps. Thanks for looking Comments welcome! Malc.

Thanks all. Nick, I have been using my Meng nuts already and it beats making them from hex rod. I figured they were so cheap I could not go wrong, but they are brilliant and just what I wanted. For ages I considered getting the RP Toolz hex punch set, glad I waited! M.

Fantastic! Those wire surrounds are remarkably effective. M.

Nice, starting to come together now. Was it because of the extra thickness of the SMS PE on the fuel tank tops and the footwell cover? Enquiring minds need to know! M.

Fantastic start to this, have you made any more progress? M.
