Thanks Mike, I have a whole shelf full of books and forget to look at them as I have now mostly transitioned to electronic files for all my pictures! Putty, IMHO the Pegram book is brilliant, the effort he has put in to draw new three views for all the Schneider aircraft is amazing. (Nice update BTW!) Malc.

Thanks Mike, couple of photos there I have not seen before. Great detail of the umbilical electrical connections where they plug in to the cowling in the second photo. Do you know which of the three S5s these photos are of? Got any more? Malc.

Coming on nicely! If I may, as its still in primer, could I persuade you to fettle the rear deck so it makes a straight line to the bottom of the fin? The kit moulding that forms the base of the fin is a bit lardy! Now I have pointed it out its going to bug you if you don't fix it.......... Malc.

Hi Dave, Thats right, the integrated manifold is tapered from the back to the front as air is consumed by each port it passes until it gets to the front and final port. As an aside, integrated exhaust manifolds are only just becoming common on road cars, they speed up engine warm up time and allow the cat to be placed closer to the head for faster light off time. Here is a pic of the 4 view in Flight Magazine confirming the taper, shame they are not available online anymore. Malc.

Sorry, I seem to be spreading confusion faster than helping! I think the thin lines you are looking are tubes for a removable long wire locating pin that holds the cowling between the vee of the heads. This was/is quite a common way of attaching panels to aircraft and vintage cars as the wire pin can be removed quickly for access. Here is a view of the engine with the special cam covers that formed the outer skin of the aircraft and showing the unique intake manifold integrated with the cyl head for the S5 and the 'tubes' for the wire pin. PS I am loving the leopard spot pattern on his flame proof jumper - wonder if he got it for Christmas! Malc.

Hi Dave, You are right, but the air has to get from the holes on the underside to the side of the head! Above I am referring to the intake ports on the side of the cylinder head. Sorry for the confusion.

Fantastic stuff, good spot on the exhaust ports! The centre head had the intake ports on the RHS. Some photos on the internet have been reversed leading to confusion. The exhaust ports and prop rotation are a good way to check the photo is the right way round if numbers or letters are not visible. Malc.

This, in this boxing, thought the fin decoration was fantastic! I must have been 8 or 9. Like @Sabrejet, the next one was an Airfix Roland C-11, followed by a Hannover with hand painted lozenges! Malc.

Tyrrell P34 - 1/12 scale Tamiya Formula 1 Big Scale
Malc2 replied to Peter Milgate's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Update:- This PM I mailed Willans (who supplied the Tyrrell harnesses for 1976), their response was that in 1976 they were 2" wide. So in 1/12 this is 4.16mm. That makes the Reji belts 1/5 scale! Malc. -

Hi Dave, No sorry I don't, seems to be one of those cases where no one photographs the car from the rear! Have you checked motorsport images? https://www.motorsportimages.com/photos/?p=2&race_type_id=0&search=tyrrell 1977 Malc. -
Tyrrell P34 - 1/12 scale Tamiya Formula 1 Big Scale

Hi Both, I believe seat belts were around 3" wide in the 70's. I have looked for the 1976 F1 regs but can't easily find them. (If anyone can find a copy online, I would be very grateful!) That makes them 6.25mm in 1/12. (4" belts are still only 8mm wide in 1/12) Yes the boxes are batteries, there were 2 on the RHS and one on the LHS. Hope these prove helpful:- Malc. -
Welcome to BM! Will be watching progress with interest. M.

Fantastic! Can't wait to see what you do with the engine.

I can't believe how real it looks. What could possibly be better than a silver bipe by Peter Airscale? M.

The new gearbox is looking good, I will be following along. The Profil24 R15 looks like a good challenge! M.

Yes I agree with Jörgen, your work is really clean and neat. Even more so when I realise how small it is.

Bloomin amazing, I struggle at 1/20, no idea how you do this at 1/43. Keep posting progress! M. -
Brill, thanks V much. M.

Picture speaks a 1000 words! The dimension from wheel rim to wheel rim as below. Cheers! Malc.

PS the graining you have achieved on the tyres is the best I have seen.

Woah, thats great, you have got a lot further than I have. Being intimately familiar with this kit, I can see all the extras you have added. Can you do me a favour and measure the inside distance between the rear tyres? I have modified JamesB's resin tyres to accept the kit inner rims and have lost my reference point. Malc.

Wow, this is amazing, superb finish! I guess this is not your first F1 car?! M.

I hope your trouble with exhausts has been resolved! I should get back to my Ligier, but there are a few others to finish first. M. -

Thats really nice! You and I must have similar tastes as I have an EJ10 90% finished and a half finished Heller 1/12 JS11 that I put a lot of work in to on another forum. Do you have any pics of your JS11 you care to post? Malc.
