  1. Fantastic to see this! Great work, look forward to seeing more. M.
  2. That is a fantastic kit, good to see one coming together. Does the nose cone fit OK over the radiator? M.
  3. Wow, super job! Good to see more resin modelling. M.
  4. Good to see this one being built, its not a common choice. Be careful with the photos on the BT42/44 link, its a BT42 dressed up with BT44 bodywork, you can tell by the wishbones which are round chromed tube, where as the real BT44 had black rectangular section tube for the same part. There are many other detail differences. Malc.
  5. Hi Jörgen, Loved following the WIPs of all these and they all look fantastic, I don't know why - but the Dauphine is my favourite! I look forward to seeing what you do in 2022! Malc.
  6. Yes, they are part of the fuel return system, here are the Cosworth diagrams for the fuel and oil system, not the easiest to read but can be made out. Malc.
  7. Hi Nick, I think you are right, the throttle slide picture I posted is probably not from a DFV. Having had another look through my photos, I believe as you say that the flange to the head is one long rectangle that spans all the ports in the head with four bolts per port. The throttle slides have ball bearings on each side of the throttle plate to reduce friction, and the first outing at Zandvoort (which is by the seaside and so there is usually a lot of windblown sand) the sand got in and caused the bearings to stick with the throttle in the open position(!), one of the solutions was to add the return springs you can see on the rear end of the throttle plate assembly. This is the best DFV image I can find:- There is a very small picture (610 x 445 pixels) on the internet of a stripped DFV, with all the components laid out, do you have a larger version of this? Malc.
  8. 1. is it this image? 2. see below 2a. Valves are actuated by the cams directly on the tappet buckets which hold the shims for adjustment. Standard for OHV direct acting engines. see this cross section 3. Which photo angles/parts do you need? This may be usefull too? Hope this helps. M.
  9. Feel your pain. One of the hardest things I have had to learn and keep re-learning is to go light with the spray can. You mention the paint is fragile, what do you protect it with, or how do you prevent marking it when handling the painted surface? Malc.
  10. Wow, when I made the suggestion to you do a DFV back in July, I did not think it would acually happen! So based on that can we have a Coventy Climax FWMV in 1/12 next please! Looking good, as do all your CAD and prints! Malc.
  11. No problem Guenther, I have not used Vallejo or Alclad, but from what I have seen they do give good results. If you can afford it you could order one of each a do a test? M.
  12. @Ade H the thread title is correct......... @Chief Cohiba I believe Tamiya TS21 is a pretty good match for Esprit gold, this is a rattle can spray but it does give great results, here are my Ferrari 312B wheels in TS21 with and without camera flash Can you find a garage or cellar to spray in? I sprayed the primer on to the body of my FW13b in the shower cubicle of a hotel room with a rattle can........!! Malc.
  13. Great work, always good to see stock resin modified to suit your own tastes. I like looking at builds outside my own comfort zone, as you see so many other interesting techniques! What did you use to punch the rivets? RP toolz set or? He reminds me of some managers I used to work for............ Malc.
  14. Thats very nice, I have a hankering for an RSK 718 as well. M.
  15. The Merc is looking great, the pads look like a good idea. I am also looking forward to the body going on! 恭喜發財! Malc.
  16. I am not sure it is any quicker....... But Paul Budzik shows this method that suits brass wire and styrene rod:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orG-c8JLl_k I guess the advantage is they will not get knocked off and they will all be exactly the same height. M.
  17. Is it crazy to buy extra detail for a super detail kit? On the Bay of E royal blue nylon cord in 0.8 and 1mm is available. I just got me some 0.8........ M.
  18. I would say that in period the colour should be slightly blacker, but its not far off, the cars today are much much darker, almost black. The thing I noticed with the TS set is the blue hydraulic line as supplied in my kit is very pale grey/blue, where as in reality should be Royal Blue, is yours like this? 1992 Hungarian GP Modern photo of running car (restored?) M.
  19. Something to help press the louvres in new bonnet side panels? M.
  20. Not much F1 stuff on here - so time to redress the balance a bit! Been after one of these for ages. Ligier JS21 - the other arrow shaped car in the 1983 GP season along with the BT52. Will do the Monaco version with the crazy biplane rear wing. Malc.
  21. Looks good, thanks for the colour info - always interesting to see how different fluro reds translate in to photos. Where did you get the rain tyres from? Malc.
