  1. Hi Matt, Like Greggles, I would like to add my thanks for the interesting posts you have made about your Farther and LDM and would also be interested in seeing your progress - especially the ASK13. @greggles.w Nice video clip! Shows how well your display stands show off your models. Do you know if the owner of the Mazda 787B did a WIP anywhere? M.
  2. Lovely work as always, but I have to say that I would have sanded that square section profile off the tyres though! M.
  3. Its looking at me reproachfully every time I sit at the model desk!
  4. Do the photos I posted not help? Its just a small triangle that is attached to the roll bar support. Here is a photo of an 005, slightly different but its the same principal. I have a DFV question for you, the on each bank the DFV has equal cylinder spacing between the front two and rear two cylinders, but between the middle cylinders of each bank the spacing is bigger, do you know why, or can you ask your friend? Malc.
  5. Looking good! Did you ever get a reply from Messrs Dimmer or Delane? M,
  6. Looking good. What a difference the decals make! I would do a test of Tamiya acrylic over Humbrol enamel on some scrap plastic before trying it on the wheels - as the enamel tends to react badly, I could be wrong though! Have you considered rings of BMF instead? Malc.
  7. Thanks for pointing this out, I do occasionaly watch the LBS, but had not seen this episode. Isn't it illegal to have a 917 replica thats not in Gulf colours?!?? Interesting talk about a flat 12 copy, we used to budget a prototype cost of £1m each for initial 4 cyl development engines for an OEM engine programme, of which there could be 10 to 15 engines in the initial build phase, so he is deffo going to need some backers! Malc.
  8. Hi Mike, Wow, just found this - thats a heap of work you have put in to this, thanks for posting! Looking forward to the next update. Malc.
  9. Great start - my favourite F1 car. Malc.
  10. This is looking good, the paint finish is super (masking tape marks excepted!). Malc.
  11. Hi Ron, Sorry its not clear. V2 of my confuser attached! I would remove ALL the kit detail on the top surface relating to the damper. I would then make a slot in the body top where the raised lumps used to be at each end of the bar. This allows the new scratch built part you just made to push through, hence the shoulders that provide a limit stop. One advantage being you could assemble the damper/spring assy and damper tower together and then glue the whole lot in to the tub. Possibly after painting the body - assuming you are leaving the floor off until after paint? Malc.
  12. Wow, you going for a rotary engine??? Now available new - if you have the cash! The hardest part I can imagine would be making the engine cowl, unless you have panel beating and aluminium welding skilz?!! Sorry - I have a million questions as making a home built was always one of my dreams (Isaacs Fury), but I have far to much else I want to do! M.
  13. Hi Ron, Not sure about the guru bit!!!! I had a doodle and tried to convey the way I would have a first go. My solution assumes the removal of the kit feature on the top surface and making a slot in the body through which the newly made part protrudes. Because the damper leans to the outside quite sharply the new web may not need vey much removing to clear the damper top. (Even extend the web down with just a hole to clear the damper top, which would make it easier to make?). The doublers form a shoulder that butt up to the underside of the tamiya body. This has got to be simillar to the real car as it would need significant strength in this area to handle the input load spikes. Have a look and let me know if it makes sense. Malc.
  14. Interesting project, where did you get the drawings from? Malc.
  15. Thanks FB! Sounds like the Tamiya engine is as close as makes no difference in 1/20. Thats hartening news for my current build. M.
  16. Hi Ron, Good to see you have started. I'm sitting here taking notes for when I get round to mine!! Or should I be modelling not staring at the computer? Malc.
  17. Looking good! From the work you have done, do you know if the 1/20 Tamiya DFV is slightly undersize or not? M.
  18. No, its just the history of re-purposed space junk from the scrapyard just off the Tannhäuser Gate! Its all fantastic! Can't wait to see the finished model. M.
  19. Can't wait to see what you do with this! Brake ducts method sound promising. I have thought of using used the same method but the wire coil wrapped with a strip of model tissue coated in PVA then painted. M.
  20. I know you want to make your own decals, but Indycals do a specific set for the FW11b for not much spends. https://www.indycals.net/decals/f1/87williams.html Malc.
  21. OK! I assumed the 3d model was the '76 car because of the front suspension is not as the '73 cars. 3D modelling is for sure the future - I look forward to the results M.
  22. This is interesting. Looking forward to the printing! Pretty sure the '76 car did not have the x brace under the battery tray. M.
