  1. Good stuff! For me Tamiya fine white primer, never had any trouble. It is incredibly forgiving, a great finish in almost zero C to +30C and high and low humidity, I joked to my friend - I am sure you could spray in the rain and still get a good finish! I use it direct from the can, but you could just as easily decant and use through an airbrush. Malc.
  2. How lovely all the extra details are. Wishing you luck! Malc.
  3. Thats fantastic! What a great idea for a display. Malc.
  4. Welcome @okazaki, looks great, please show us some more! I guess this is not your first F1? Malc.
  5. Hi @vandellyn, You are right the air box should be closed at the bottom front. The answer to your second question took me almost a year to find out! On the now closed off bottom front face there is a metal lip that engages with a cross bar on the roll hoop. Here is a pic I took at the Team Lotus workshops:- Click once to open in new tab, click again to get full res pic. The forks on the front engage with a cross tube that is the main spar for the front wings, (one long tube across the car in to each wing). Malc.
  6. Nice pics! You have certainly traveled around a bit. I must get to Calshot castle this year. I'm also on the same mission but in 1/32........ Malc.
  7. Will be following this with interest. The 2009 Testors box art team made a couple of glaring errors, Curtis instead of Curtiss and R3X-2 instead of R3C-2, the guy who did the instructions got both right......... Even worse - the previous boxings were all correct..... Malc.
  8. Putty, good to see you back at it. That there spoked wheel.........😍! Malc.
  9. Great photos, thanks for the link! M.
  10. A DH60 AND a caravan, whats not to like? Looking forward to hearing more about Mr Presland. Wonder what the car is behind the caravan? Bit before my time so I'm not very good on pre war car identification. Will be following this for sure! Malc.
  11. Sooooo close! I guess just needs motivation plus nice spraying weather? M.
  12. Very nice! Interesting comparison with the P34 wheel base. Malc.
  13. Thats fantastic, I love the story of Grover-Williams practising on the circuit very late at night/early in the morning, just before the race when there was no other traffic around He won the race by over a minute. The prize for winning was 100,000Francs which was/is a fortune. Malc.
  14. Nice, I too prefer the original AC Ace and 289 over the later cars, so shall be follwing with interest! M.
  15. I shall be following this with interest. S27 are quite variable, most very good, a few not so (Tyrrell 019). However with a bit of work they all make really good models. Malc.
  16. What a fantastic result, thanks for sharing your failures too! These are the nuggets of info that are always interesting to learn from. I too have suffered the mole hills of doom....... Malc.
  17. I like the gold, whose paint is it? Malc.
  18. Your S65 looks good, I will be interested to see how you have managed the cockpit sides between the cylinder fairings. Interpretation of this area varies wildly between models as photos of the real thing are not very clear. Malc.
  19. Brilliant! That Roy Cross chap was responsible for a lot of my Airfix purchases. The box art with the pyramids is indeed fantastic and after completing the Airfix 1/144, I was seduced in to buying the 1/72 Contrail vacform......... Malc.
  20. Thats great, always love to see another racer on here. Please do another one! Malc.
  21. Hi @Chimpion, no they are not included, would be good to know which aftermarket decals @mral47 used though, I have the Tabu decals and the yellow is much much brighter than the kit decals. Malc.
  22. Fantastic! Did you do a WIP anywhere? Malc.
