  1. I'm pretty sure the kits need to come from original Matchbox moulds.
  2. As soon as I am able to get back into modelling I will try and fill in some of the gaps in the Matchbox range. After the Stuka I will probably do two Hellcats, a P-38, a B-26 Marauder and then hopefully some others.
  3. Perhaps like in the old days we will have to wait for the 2018 catalogue to come out before we know whats new.
  4. Where's my buccaneers? Under your buccan hat!
  5. I really like the way you have presented the Boston on your base, some of the pictures had me fooled for a while there. Maybe try doing some in black and white, that would look very convincing.
  6. Wouldn't Catalonian stripes look like Vichy French stripes though?
  7. A man has to do what a man has to do, as it was once said on an old western.
  8. I don't think that Buccaneer lovers need lose hope of seeing a new kit from Airfix. The old Buccaneer kit always seemed popular and even though I never built it myself I think of it as one of those kits that defined a certain era of Airfix kits. The Buccaneer is also in keeping with the rest of the Airfix range. I don't build jets myself but if a new Buccaneer is announced for 2018 I would consider that a wise choice by Airfix. I would rather Airfix produce kits I don't want that sell than kits I do want which are met with a slow response.
  9. You could join the Matchbox group build with the Hunter, it is open until February if you fancy joining us. Best of luck building all those kits.
  10. This is like having Professor Jon Curtice or Jon Snow (not Game of Thrones) with his swingometer on Britmodeller. Well done it makes it all the more exciting.
  11. The Mosquito in the dogfight double wasn't the one still in production (first released about 1974) but the earlier kit from about 1958. The current Airfix Mosquito dating from the early seventies is actually a nice kit, but even so it is looking a bit dated now. While the old kit still sells and looks ok I don't see how Airfix could go wrong with a new kit.
  12. Great choice of kit. We are building as we like so you can add whatever upgrades you want.
  13. You certainly don't and what a nice model it has made. If you like building old Airfix kits then don't forget to vote for Airfix the Golden Years in the 2018 group build poll.
  14. They both look really good well done. I remember building the Airfix F-111 and I think the old Airfix Phantom as well, seeing these makes me feel like building them again even though I normally only build WW2 stuff. Don't forget to vote for Airfix the Golden years in the 2018 group build poll if your into old Airfix kits.
  15. Absolutely spot on that is, lovely job. If you enjoy building old Airfix kits then don't forget to vote for Airfix the Golden Years in the 2018 group build poll.
  16. That turned out lovely, beautiful job.
  17. Well done it looks brilliant. Tempted to buy one for myself after seeing this. If you enjoy building old kits then don't forget to vote for Airfix the Golden Years group build.
  18. Very nice build, it makes me feel like starting the one in my stash. If you like old Airfix kits then don't forget to vote for the Airfix Golden Years group build.
  19. I used to like that song when I was a kid, it sounds different now though.
  20. The mystery deepens. https://youtu.be/wtJ1Gnh9wPU
  21. Why would a Sturmovic be left like that, I thought they were ultra rare?
  22. All this talk of Airfix releasing a Avro Lincoln kit, a lot of people seem to want one while others think it to be something that is not worth producing. We have seen lots of manufacturers produce Lancasters and even several produce Shackleton kits over the years but I don't think a major manufacturer has ever released a Lincoln kit, maybe there is a good reason for this or maybe it is an oversight. In my own view yes producing a Lincoln would be a gamble, but considering the Lincolns links to the Lancaster I think it would be an odds on bet rather than one with the odds against it. As a purely WW2 builder would I buy a Lincoln? The answer is yes, but only so long as the price did not push much over £30. What about if I were Airfix right now? I would probably play it safe and build up a strong catalogue of tried and proven old favorites before taking any punts such as the Lincoln. The Lincoln would certainly be kept in mind though and the sooner one is on the shelves the sooner it starts making money, also if I were Airfix I would not like to see a rival company come in with a Lincoln kit.
  23. I don't think there is much point in having a group build unless there will be a decent amount of entrants in it. This is one of the main reasons we have a vote. I would like to vote for this group build on principle but like I wrote before I don't build WW1 subjects and would be even less likely to join in with it when there is the option to build something from WW2 in a different gb. It may have been better to have named this simply the World War One group build rather than the Eleventh Hour as I had to look to see what it was all about. A blander title may have worked better. I wish it all the best of luck and hope it gets voted in though. I am very surprised that there are not many more bi-plane, armour and ship builders willing this one on to be honest.
  24. I'd probably choose the Lysander out of those four kits as well. The thing with the 1/72 Lysander kit that I didn't like was the way the wings joined together inside the canopy, in reality the wings did not reach all the way through the canopy but were joined to a kind of A frame arrangement. The Me 109 is also a very nice kit, the Beaufighter not so nice. Never built the Fury.
