Bring it on Baby!!!! I have shelf space waiting!!

Thanks Warhawk! The first picture is definitely the best shot I've seen of the area in question. Now it seems that I can say the
cover/door is not flat. Isn't the first picture a Yak 9k/T? Wow those panels on the nose are ill fitting!
Anyone else?

I was searching through my meager Yak-9 references in order to brush up for a build and I had some questions about the Yak-9DD square wing root intakes.I have noticed in some pictures that there is some sort of door/cover blocking the root intakes and it doesn't seem to matter whether the engine is running or not. Does anyone here have any god pictures or reference for this? I have searched the internet but all the pictures I find are small and grainy and I can only tell that something is there. My main questions are thus:
Is the intake covered by a door that is operated by the pilot, or is it a plug that is used by the ground crew to block it off?
If it is part of the aircraft does it rotate into position or it it a flap?
This seems to only apply to the rectangular root intakes.
Here is a link to the best picture of the cover I can find:

I like both versions! I think it takes a lot of guts to strip a finished model to repaint. I like it!

Beautiful work!

Hi.
All now painted up in overall glossy white. Pics to come. Work started in getting the floats sorted and a base prepared.
Nachtwulf: Its going to be in Harbour Air markings. The' Arctic ' mention is the producer of the decals and conversion set though the resin is by Khee Kha as mentioned .
I suppose, if I had thought it through I would have realized that floats won't work too well in the
Arctic!

When questions are posted like this I am always amazed at the wealth of information offered by others. I like reading them and find them most informative but I also feel like all I could add would look something like:
Uh....... it looks like some kinda green and brown and blue color..... probably painted on.......
Seriously, you guys are very knowledgeable!

That's a very involved looking project! Nice work! Keep going, that will be one nice looking plane when you are finished. What color is the arctic scheme?

you're a better modeller than I am! I didn't even attempt to build this kit. I like your build! I thought I saw somewhere that Eduard (?) was going to do a new tool Tempest soon.

That looks very nice! I really like the weathering you have done ! Great work!

It almost appears as if they shortened a standard wing one station further out than what is more commonly seen. Just a thought .

What a nice build! The detail is amazing and the paint work is spot on! Is that the Eduard engine set? That zero looks really nice too!

Great looking build! Your finish is superb and I really like the photography!

Excellent looking builds! Those aircraft must win the award for most cockpit windows! With all the really nice airline models on this site it is getting harder to resist building one. Your back patio looks really nice too!

Glad to hear that ! Keep banging away I'm looking forward to more pictures! Someday I am going to have to figure out photo bucket and start posting my own pics.

Excellent looking build! Those wing tanks really make the wing look extra long! Very nice work!

Their reputation is good, which was why I was surprised. Maybe I should have a word? Does anyone have his email address?

Another fine looking Meteor! I like this plane the more I see of it! Good work!

First picture is perfect! She must be 1/32 because the detail looks to fine for 1/48. Excellent!

Very attractive build Jonners! I really like the finish you achieved! I am fiddling with this kit and it seems to fit rather nicely if you are careful. Love the way yours turned out. Can't wait to see what you do with the other two!
