  1. Thanks everyone, really appreciate all the advice, I have a much clearer idea of what to go for and where to get it, I will follow up on the suggestions here. Thanks again. 👍
  2. Hi All, I am attempting my first AFV, and am enjoying it so far - building this basic Tamiya Kit as a starting point to experiment. Tamyia Tiger 1 Mid - Scalemates. I have found the OOB Tracks not to be working for me at all, I can't get them to bend properly around the wheels, and they keep coming apart. Possibly, I should have fitted them before putting the wheels on the model. So a learning experience - which is what this was meant to be. so am looking at after market tracks. This seems to be a literal minefield, and as many of them are similar, or more cost than I paid for the actual kit, I don't want to make a mistake with whatever I purchase. So, I am looking for some recommendations from you knowledgeable AFV types, many of whom have probably built this kit, or similar. Could you let me know what you would suggest to go for here? Scalemates amazingly does not seem to list any in the aftermarket section. A google search has revealed many options, and being more of an aircraft guy than an AFV guy, it gets confusing quite quickly 😲 Many thanks in advance.
  3. Not to worry, found them - if any of you are ever looking for masks for any reason, check Sean out, he can provide almost anything, including custom masks across most scales. Great service so far too https://topnotch-success.net/
  4. Hey everyone, wondering if any of you can point me in the right direction. I am 80% of the way through completing my 1/24 Typhoon Bubbletop and am looking to try and find some paint masks for the camouflage on the top of the aircraft. With a lot of the plane exposed and open, this will help with masking as well. I have found that Miracle Masks used to do some, but they dont seem to do this any more. I have spent a while googling, but havent found any alternative. There seems to be plenty of canopy, wheel and markings masks, but no camo masks available. Can any of you let me know anyone I could get these from at all, or point me in the right direction? Many thanks, Reg.
  5. Thanks guys, I have received and responded to PM's. Much appreciated.
  6. Great, thanks guys, I am glad I havent missed anything. I will look at the e-bay option, or waiting till re-release. Appreciate the response
  7. Hi all, I havent modelled for a while for various reasons, about 18 months, and am just starting again. I have been looking for an Airfix 1/24 Hawker Typhoon - but not the car door version, I have found a couple of e-bay, but just wondering have I missed something? General availability now seems to only be for the car door version, even Airfix's own shop has only that model. I have also looked on all my regular online hobby shops, and found nobody has them in stock. Has the bubble canopy version been discontinued - or am I imagining things?
  8. Hi All, Sadly I am going to have to pull out of the GB - no way I am going to get this built anywhere near in time as a result of construction going on later than planned and having 8 people in house for Christmas - who are all already with us. This has completey denied me any modelling time, and will continue to do so till the New Year pretty much. I am, and will continue to watch the great builds going on, but must apologise as mine will not be completed as part of the GB
  9. Well done Ettore, very well deserved win, your build was outstanding, and it looks like you are creating a build that is just as great in the MTO GB too. I really enjoy following your builds
  10. Yes, thanks everyone - this has been my first GB, and it has been thoroughly enjoyable. I originally intended on making 2, but only managed to finish 1. Watching everyone elses builds progress was really enjoyable. Thanks to the hosts, and all participants for making it such a joy
  11. Awesome, lovely to see such an unusual scheme. Nice job
  12. Haven't forgotten the GB guys, in the midst of a part garage conversion at the moment to give me a man cave - for work as a home office, music and modelling - so not able to do anything till that is fixed as the conservatory where I used to model is now full of garage stuff till the garage is finished - and I can't get to my modelling desk Will update as soon as I can, and hopefully still finish this in time to get it included in the GB.
  13. Wow Ettore, that is stunning, what a fantastic result - and I agree with Foxbat - your figures are great
  14. Beautiful build this - and good Lord what a crazy number of stencils
  15. Wow this is an incredible build, and a fantastic tribute, awesome
  16. Well I have had a bit of a total disaster on this - the Aires cockpit set did not fit at all on the cockpit sides, it was warped and brittle, slight movement to try and get it in place and trim a little caused the whole thing to shatter and break. As a result I have ordered a replacement Eduard cockpit set and will have a go with that - so for the moment, construction is on hold. Maybe I should find something else to build while waiting for deliveries. . . . . .hmmm, MTO offers a fair number of things doesnt it, will have to have a think.
  17. Hi All, Here is my build for the MTO GB, this is nothing outlandish, I am working with a well known kit and scheme, this will be my first African camo kit ever - so I am hoping to learn a great deal on this. I am using the Eduard 1/48 Spit IXc early version kit, with a coupld of resin additions, and brass gun barrels. I will also be trying out Hataka paints on this, and have bought their North Africa set to see how that goes. As always, advice on how to improve as I go along always appreciated Here are a few pics of the kit, the scheme, the extras and the paint set to get things started - I have just got back from a week away yesterday, so will likely start this this weekend Kit, Extras, Scheme, Hataka Paint Set.
  18. That is a fantastic build, always had a bit of a soft spot for the P40 - and yours is an absolutely fantastic example.
  19. Wow - just wow!!! What can be said about that, absolute perfection really. This one of the things that makes me come back to Britmodeller forums every day - looking forward to seeing absolute masterpieces, created by modelling masters to a standard I will likely never be able to emulate or match - but that I will always be able to admire, respect, and enjoy Incredible build!!!
  20. Wow, looks like a great turn out and some really interested builds being proposed here. Nothing exotic for me sadly, I have never done a desert scheme so am looking to just do a Spit IX from Eduard - so maybe a bit boring to most, but I am really looking forward to seeing some of the more interesting builds coming along.
  21. This may be exactly what I am looking for to try out a first NMF scheme, so count me in as interested please
