  1. Thanks for the help guys, problem solved.
  2. Just picked up an Airfix Lancaster B1 in a red stripe box for less than a tenner.. kits complete but lack decals. Does anyone know of a decal sheet that has this Lancaster included?
  3. And guess which side of the pond I'm on..yeah that's right, good old Blighty 😤
  4. I had a feeling someone would say that....I'm not sure the kit had two windscreens, mine didn't but it did have two canopies.
  5. Just a quick question, hope it's in the right section but if not please feel free to move it..can anyone tell me if the airfix helldiver kit is still available/ in production? Like a muppet I've gone and lost the pilots windscreen from the one I had in the stash and can't build it without. Cheers guys mike
  6. Thank you gentlemen for that information. I just need to find an F-4N kit now, any one know who does one and if it's available (1-72) I stil can't justify spending 30 quid plus though I'm afraid, no matter how good the kit is lol
  7. It's the F-4B Phantom 151488 NL/211 VF-111 Sundowners shark mouth NAS Miramar 1971 on the 1.72 scale modeldecal sheet MD015
  8. Thanks for that info mate, very helpful. I know where I'm going now... thanks also to all you other chaps who chipped in with their advice..
  9. Sorry guys I was thinking of 72nd scale and should have made that clear... so reading between the lines all I'd need to do to an N to get to a B is delete the fairings on the intakes and replace the the tail planes with a pair of slotted ones? What about the burner cans, would they be that same for both B and N versions? By the way, I'm wanting to finish it in the sundowners markings with sharks teeth from an old decal sheet I have if that helps borrow down the modifications. As always I'm really grateful for the help and advice.
  10. What would I need to do to the N if anything to have a plausible F-4B?
  11. Here's one for the F-4 experts. How would you go about adding a 1.72 scale F-4B to a collection without spending 30 quid on the hasegawa kit or making do with the ancient airfix kit?
  12. I don't have one yet, I'm thinking of adding the old Airfix outer wings to the new kit or maybe getting the freight dog conversion depending on which is the cheaper and easier option
  13. Hello folks.. anyone know where I might find decals for a metal wing RAF hurricane mk1 ideally from the BoB period? I have the sky decalss sheet but not sure if there is one on there. Cheers fellas mike
  14. I did that on my meteor T7 and it looked very close to the example in the Newark Air Museum. I was thinking is something like Halfords BMW silver over painted with Matt varnish. How silvery was the underside in real life?
  15. Cheers for that mate, sounds easy enoug to do. I'm thinking of Halfords BMW silver followed by a coat of Matt varnish. I suppose it depends on how silver the real thing looked.
  16. Hi guys, a quick question for the starfighter experts out there. I've just got hold of the italeri F-104G kit . The painting instructions for the West German Air Force jabo 31 state the undersides are silver but every pic I've seen so far seem to show them as light grey. Can anyone clarify which one is correct?
  17. I agree.. looks good when its together but needs lots of hard work.
  18. So basically I need to find some decals first then decide which one to build?
  19. Bet they're rare has hens teeth too.. incidentally, would the early Israeli f4 from the Yom Kippur period have the long or short nose fairing?
  20. I was originally going to go with airfix kit, built as an E but after being advised against it on the grounds that the airfix kit can't really be built as an E, I went for a cheap kit that could be built to represent one...once that was decided I still intended using the Airfix decals but as they are fictitious, I'm now looking for alternative Israeli markings. It's turning out to be a bit of a struggle as I wanted to build it to represent an aircraft from the Yom Kippur war.. as for the airfix kit, that's now in line to be finished as an F-4B from the sundowners..
  21. The kit I'm using is the Bilek kit which is I think the Testors/Italeri F-4/E/F/G Wild Weasel kit and it does have the leading edge slats...I was really hoping to do an F-4 from the Yom Kippur war
