  1. Thank Mike and Luis for your comments. Indeed - I think that Monogram kit reproduced very well shapes of P 51 B. It is a pitty that it has rised lines and lack of any details in wheels bay. Luis - if you need I have an Academy Malcolm hood part of canopy in spare box... Cheers J-W
  2. Hi Luis - thank for comment and personal story. From your always interesting and digressive comments a nice book of esseys entitled like "Memoires of a moddeler" can be produced... :) Think about it. Going back to 1970s - those days I had also Ki-43 Hayabusa I by Revell and Ki-44 Shioki from Tamiya (however - without electric engine) both in 1/72 - they went to people in early 1980s. BTW - with electric engines I had only Beaufighter Mk XXI by Frog. That one I recycled later (in 1990s) into Beaufighter Mk II which I posted here a year ago - not writing the whole story about it somehow. Hasta luego! Jerzy-Wojtek
  3. Very interesting - especially for someone like me who has two Vildebeests in stash (radial and Spanish) . I will look carefully Keep on posting, pls Regards J-W
  4. Hi, Perhaps not exactly - I have found in net a photo of BV 141 with a yellow (rather then white, I guess) band arround fuselage, so likely also yellow (or white?) wingtips (below). Unfortunately not whole code is seen. Anyway - interesting for me . And I hope - not only for me...What to think about it? A retouch? A machine tested in Eastern front? Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek
  5. Sorry Mario - I will not do Latin American P51. They were not used in WWII as I know - so they are outside my 1935-45 limits. The one extra P51 I want to do is a early P51D from Europe. Of Latin America mashines I have in my planes for sure a bit bizzare Douglas O38E in Haitanian markings and normal P47D Bubbletop in Brazilian colours from Italy scheme (decals by ESCI, 40+ years waiting in my drawer to be used...) Best regards J-W
  6. Hi, The third (and last for a while) of my models, which is a vintage since it is 40 years old and which I refreshed a bit during last week-end. it is P 51 B Mustang, done from a Monagram's racer set (in box besides P 51 there was also a F8F Bearcat). The plastic of model was bright red (!). The Bearcat went to people but P 51 stayed with me for 40 years, as I said already. The painting scheme is fameous Shangri-La of Don Gentile, 336th Sq, 8th Army USAAF, UK 1944. Decals by ESCI. The MGs are from needles for injection - this was my routine already in 1977... During last week-end, after gently cleaning I replaced US Insignia which became very dark and refreshed white strips which were too gray-brown - like a collar on shirt after too long wearing Next was fresh cover of varnish... Below is result. Comments welcome Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek
  7. Hi, Another 40 years old model from my shelvs: Kawasaki Ki 45 Toryu (nickname "Nick" ) , kit by Revell. I made it in 1977 I think. (EDIT:) Painting scheme is of 3 Chutai, 53 Sentai JAAF, Matsuda airfield, Chiba Prefecture Japan, Dec. 1944. Silver paint was applied using spray from cane, green by Humbrol Authentic. A day before yesterday I cleaned it with water but white strips from top of wing and on top of fuselage were still remaining dirty. I sand them off a bit, very gently and repaint adding then new decals. Then - some varnish on them. Comments welcome Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek
  8. Hi, Next vintage model from my shelvs - Nakajima Ki 84 Ia Hayate in Allies code - Frank. This is very old Revell kit made actually twice by me sometime before 1978 (when I've got a breake in modelling due to start intesive dating...) I did the model very early (about 1973 or 74 perhaps, so I was let say 14-15) but then after a few years I immersed it in NaOH and removed all paint (using no gloves what was a bit painfull then - a skin below nails was breaking...), gently separate parts and glue it again and then painted it again. This "recycling" was because models were not easily available in Poland those years. Me and my brother were in better position regarding our collegues - our Grandfather lived in London and this was our source of models, but they were still very precious, so if you were not satisfied - you were recycling them because buying was not easy . I recycled many of my early models this way. And some of them I still have. Going back to model - the painting scheme is from 183 Shimbu Tai, Tatebayashi, August 1945 (? - whatever it is ). The profile, I followed, was published in some book like "Encyclopedy of airpalanes" or something like that. Now in net I have found very similar profile but with number 55 instead of 117. Before posting it I replaced the decals on wings which were in bad shape and added some fresh varnish obviously after very gently washing all over using brush and water. Comments welcome and regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  9. Many thanks Gents for all comments and likes! Perhaps I will do Dave from auxiliary cruiser also... Cheers J-W.
  10. Tony - what to say? ... Till now I knew that TV lies. But the normal photo also? I am a bit confused but I will "repair" the C roundels here for sure. Thank you for sharing this photos . Many thanks for all comments and likes Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  11. Thanks a lot for comments and likes! This pattern and in general -the mottle camo was something what I really loved those years. And I still like it to do - but now it is easier with all the techniques and tricks which I've learnt in meantime... Few more 40+ years old models I cleaned and a bit repaired during this week-end. Soon I 'll post them. Cheers J-W
  12. Many thanks for comments - and the photo of "mine" Albemarle shows codes written this way: 8.ZA - indeed!, So, the profile was correct and I did not made a mistake at least from this (left) side of machine I am very glad about it... Thanks you - Tony - for showing this photo Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek
  13. Many thanks ! Kev, whatever you'll chose (1:72, 1:35 -or... both?) I hope to see result on RFI
  14. Defintly yes for time extension - the limitation '35-'45 is only my limit You may do it much wider for sure Cheers J-W
  15. Mario and Luis Alfonso, Since I am doing ony 1935-45 and I would not like to do nothing else - I propose that only topic "Latin America" is a framework for group build. Cheers J-W
  16. I think that at least on photos http://www.angelfire...heme______1.jpg and https://upload.wikim...ck_on_U-544.jpg it is old fashion two-tone blue/gray camo with introduced intermediate blue on sides (Edit:) and white from bottom, so alltogether remained old fashion blue-gray from top (instead of newer, darkered blue), intermediate blue on sides and white from bottom. That is how It could be in my interpretation. cheers J-W
  17. Tony - i am not surprised since you are former paratrooper, what I 've learnt from some your posts BTW - my collegue from school - who is a paratrooper as you and he is also a son of paratrooper is trying to collect all models from which he or his father were jumping. Some, like for example Shcherbakov Shche-2 are really hard to get (http://www.modelarstwo.org.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40268) Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek
  18. Hi, This is mine number nine of this year - all were "odd and old Germans". Now it is Heinkel He 114. The model is made out of Mach -2 kit with some reshaping - some of the needed reshaping as well as confusion with drawings I discussed in WIP therad here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235000446-mach-2-heinkel-he-114-172/ As resume of what was corrected they were: the horizontal stabilizers were a bit swept into rear, the fin was cut and reshaped as well as the rudder was mounted a bit more vertical, the struts were shortered to lower the upper wing regarding fuselage, new canopy was done, some changes were also dane in interior of cockpit and the wing was cut outside the central part to make some dihedral of wing. In addition to what was said here (and there, ie. in WIP) I shortered also front of fuselage (behind the cowling) by ca. 2 mm and the small ploat rudders (? - this part in the end of float) were much slowered. I hope all this modification made the model more similar to the real thing, what can be perhaps noticed studying the photos in net. Initally I was thinking on doing this machine in Romanian markings, although I've read on use of He-114 on board of German auxiliary cruiser Pinguin in Indian Ocean during 1940. This is a fascinating and terrible story that really crude war was conducted also on Indian Ocean - more about the Pinguin one can read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_auxiliary_cruiser_Pinguin Since I found some contradictinary data on painting scheme of machine from Pinguin I asked BM memebers in this thread: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234999389-any-info-on-heinkel-he-114-with-fake-british-roundels-indian-ocean-1940/ for a help. Finally in the post #41 by Nick Millman there a testimony of a witness says: "The aircraft were painted with usual German sea camouflage, the lower surface of the wings being painted light blue, the upper surface green, blue and black. During its attack on "Filefjell" the aircraft used markings similar to those of South African Air Force, namely, black, white and orange roundels" Since both darker camouflage colour and outside of roundels are named here "black" I decided to do roundels in very deep blue and of course the camo (green/black in testimony) made as a standard Krigsmarine RLM72/73 (Humbrol 243/244 - the new colours). I made the roundels, especially those from bottom, as large as possible - guessing that this was their role - to be well visible. Below is my proposition of how the Pinguin's He-114 might have look like. I made some intense weathering since the machine was all the time exposed to weather - if not in air it was on deck. However - I am not sure if the paint cover was not maintancedall the time to keep soldiers busy... Comments welcome as always and best regards. Jerzy-Wojtek
  19. Hi, Next from shelvs. This is a very vinatge model - I made it in 1976 or 77, when I was about 17 -18 yeras old....This is old LS kit and painting scheme is presenting machine of Head Quater Chutai, 77 Sentai, Burma 43-44. https://weaponsandwarfare.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/zbdfgbdfg.jpg Recently I only wash it carefuly from dust (was really dark) and replaced the hinomarus from top and on fuselage - they were in bad shape... I gave also fresh a bit satin Vallejo varnish cover... Comments welcome and regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  20. Hi Mario and Luis Alfonso, Regarding Latin America machines I planning only Brazilian P47 D from Italy with bazookas and Haitanian Douglas O 38E ( - that is nice machine from antisubmarine patrols during WWII, a resin kit by Ardpol and self made decals). I am ready to start them since I have all meterials colected already. Perhaps I can do some more like Maxican P47 D from Philippines (a new one or a upgrade of old Revell kit which I did 40+ years ago) and sometimes I considering a Brazilian Grumman Gosling - but rather I will do US Coast Guard one. Of others I was sometimes thinking on B 18 Bolo in Brazilian colours but I will rather do Canadian one. Of model I have in planes (and in stash) Brazil used also FW 58 and FW 44 but I will not go to them. That is all.... Best regards J-W
  21. Luis, the idea of group build can be Ok. I have Esci set with Brazilian decals to P47, as I said, as you know already I have also with P39 and P38, Hurricanes and P40 as well as D520 and Morane 406. For sure one day I will do P 47 in Brazilian markings from Italy and D 520 with one of the set... Hasta luego J-W
  22. Many thanks Gents for comments and likes. Thank you Tony for noticing this. However, it is not by mistake - I was studying photos available in net and particulary on this photo, which is said to be done on Pegasus bridge area: The visible Horsa has such strange roundel ("C modified" ) on fuselage - a C with small red center - moreover it has also not typical d-day strips with the same width on fuselage as on wings (on fuselage should be more narrow for big machines, as I understood). I do not why it is like this - I hope photo is original one...- not from a post-war movie or similar... Best regards Jerzy-Wojtek
