  1. Thanks Muchmirth, the plastic card came off without any issues. I coated it with PVA before I started, the hardest bit was the white Tac and scraping that off.
  2. Thanks Bobby, 1/72 was just the right scale for this project. Thanks James, you should try it, waters not that scary. Thanks Adrian, I got there in the end, luckily the resin dried in time. thanks Pat, I'm flatted that you think it could grace a museum cabinet.
  3. cheers Dennis, I wouldn’t mind a trip to see her myself.
  4. I made it, the acrylic resin set. My take on the P-38 that crashed in North Wales after a range sortie, using the vintage Airfix 1/72 kit a bit of Das air drying clay and Woodland Scenics realistic water. I present the ‘Maid of Harlech’.
  5. it set! final pictures of my take of the ‘Maid of Harlech’ below is a map of where Harlech is in North Wales.
  6. thanks Muchmirth, it will be very satisfying to peel it off, I may just keep it on a little longer just to make sure its all set. I've got till midnight on Sunday 😆
  7. Cheers Adrian, there may a little more murk than on the finished build as the Woodland Scenics water is murky and drys clear. hopefully my blue colour I sprayed on will shine through. thanks James, I may need my magnifiers on for 1/72 seagulls 🤣 cheers Pat, thanks ModelingEdmontonian. its getting there, hopefully it will dry by the weekend to allow me to take the the black Frame off. Cheers Bobby, just a waiting game now for the water to go off.
  8. And now we wait, hopefully it will dry by the weekend.
  9. got some temporary sides put on ready to pour, I coated the sides with PVA which should hopefully allow me to peel off without much loss. Thanks James, I’m using Woodland scenics single pour realistic water. Cheers, wow thanks for the re post, looking at the thread it would be right at home in that GB. Cheers cheers Steve, it’s all coming along nicely, fingers crossed the water effect drys quickly. Thanks Adrian, I did a bit of mixing to get the right colour but with a green and light aircraft blue.
  10. cheers James, Glad I’m not the only one. Thanks Adrian, she’s coming along, I’ve finished weathering and added a greeney blue colour to the front of the aircraft. I think I’m about ready to start poring.
  11. thanks James, I try and build the slightly unusual subjects. I’ve got the basic colours on over the past couple of evenings, it’s all coming together nicely.
  12. Thanks Dennis, the engines were from AIRES 7046, Allison V-1710 , Scale 1/72. I had to do some searching as in the UK they were a bit thin on the ground. the engines are nicely detailed and come with some bits to stick on.
  13. Got some air drying clay today, after watching the u-tube clip again for inspiration I popped her on the beach. I used some PVA on the base to reduce shrinkage with the clay, used my fingers mainly then went over the clay with a damp paper towel to blend it all in followed by a dry scrunched up paper towel to try and get a bit of texture to the beach.
  14. Bit behind as I thought I had some air drying clay at home. Little did I know it had been used by my daughter. at least the engines are in, just a bit of plastic strut to add for a bit of detail. My wife said she’d get some clay so hopefully I’ll get that on mid week.
  15. Brilliant thread, I’ll be following with internet as I’ve just picked the RFM first release Tiger one initial production without interior. I will be getting some extra goodies to enhance my build.
  16. Great detail Adrian, after flicking through your thread I did open the radiator vents up at the rear.then I took the saw to one of left boom and cut it off 🤣.
  17. Cheers Vytautas, took a little longer than expected but really pleased with how it turned out.
  18. cheers James, I want to get the air drying clay done over the weekend, then I’ll be happy I’ve made up for lost time. cheers Adrian, I’ve got a bit of catching up to do, it took me back to my quick building youth the only thing I didn’t do was get some paint on 🤣. I certainly have Pat, I’m a big fan of old Airfix kits.
  19. cheers James, hopefully I make the dead line. thanks guys. today I got the main superstructure built, the engines I had found looked a little small. I managed to find a couple of engines on various sites that weren’t to expensive.
  20. wow I was all the way at the bottom of page 2, I’ve been a little distracted finishing off a project and then being given a kit to build for an article. Now I can focus on the P-38, bench cleared ready to start cutting and sticking plastic tomorrow. hopefully in the correct order? before and after bench tidy proof of life pictures long term project article build
  21. thanks for the comments guys, it was a really enjoyable build and a nice baptism of horse painting.
