    Cheers Darryl,

I hadn't planned on using as much as I have so far, but it does look nice.

Very good work. Love the pe additions and now wishing I’d also added a metal barrel. That line drawing is super handy too. Are you going to leave those back grated panels on the engine decks open?
I’d also say mdmb are best prebuilt dioramas on the market, their priced really reasonably and Marco is a super nice bloke!

    Thanks Paul,

the drawings are great and really useful with chiseling off bits that aren't needed, Marcos bases are fantastic ive got a couple now and really impressed. The top deck isn't stuck down yet the rear deck is a tight fit so will need to clamp down once I glue the top down.

The diorama will look great once it all comes together.....

    Cheers Keith,

its all coming together nicely, not to much etch left to stick on.

Looking very cool, always like an unpainted model.

    Thanks Simon,

I always feel slightly bad for painting over all the etch detail, one day I may keep one unpainted.

Ive got the side skirts on, I used making tape as a guide foe the level then cut the lugs off with a sharp scalpel. and I'm happy with the way its all turned out.

  2. this week I’ve been mainly doing etch, there are a fair few differences from the initial to the early in some tool positions and tow rope clamps.

luckly one of my references books has line drawing that as if by magic are drawn in 1:35.

The side skirt mountings will need to be scraped off as the etch requires them in slightly different places.

I’ve also treated myself to a metal barrel.

Blimey!  That's gone together quickly!  😲

I like the diorama .... simple yet effective 👌

    Keith 😁

    Tanks Keith,

maybe i've made to many Tigers? this one has gone together with minimal effort and very similar to previous builds with regards to construction. the Diorama base is great, I'm thinking more of a summer feel as I've got lots of winter Dioramas. so maybe some sunflowers and summer uniformed Infantry.

she's certainly started off well. just need to start drilling for location holes for the tools and tow ropes.

Looking really good, the base will look super.

This RFM kit is late 42 early 43 so it hits the early Tiger mark for me. A number would have the feifel filters disconnected particularly on the Eastern front so like with most other detail check with period photos.

(It's not super early as it's doesn't have the mirror tracks or the large bins on the turret sides, amongst other things that I'm sure the experts could highlight).

    Great start!

    Darryl

    Thanks Darryl,

the Germanys, Tiger Tanks book has been a great help and thanks for your bits of information. my main concern was an additional fluid filler cap next to the snorkel port. but luckily It fits the period I'm after.

Hi Ozzy. Hope you are keeping well. Great to see you hear with what looks like another of your fantastic dioramas! Looking forward to following your progress.

    thanks Stix,

all good down there thanks, hope your all well.

It’s nice to build a non complicated kit.

looking through my reference books I’ve found a picture used for the resin base. I’ve been flicking through both books as the RFM kit is either initial or a very, very early Tiger. Trying to get to an early ish Tiger.

Looks like you've made quick progress there!  I like the building/base .... the Tiger will look at home there!

    Keith 😁

    thanks Keith,

A few focused hours yesterday and it soon went together, the slowest bit will be adding the etch.

That was fast! The mysticism that surrounds early tigers always makes them a great choice and that base looks amazing!

no hanging around here Simon, bit of Easter egg and glue and I was away.

    cheers Darryl,

I’ve not built an RFM kit to date, I’m really happy with the fit. There is just a bit of work to turn from a North African Tiger to one on the Eastern Front.

I've never built an RVF kit(or heard of them)  It will be interesting to watch your progress.  Great looking Eastern front base. :like:

So far so good Bob, it’s my first RFM kit and it’s going together really well. The base is very nice and is done off a picture with a tiger sat next to the building.

Welcome along Ozzy, great to have you on board. (I can't take any credit for the choice of GB. @Marklo is the man. I am just here as a helping hand/annoying presence).

Looks like yet another great kit and cracking base. All the best in your build.

    Thanks Stef,

it’s a busy time keeping up with everyone’s posts and building your own kit.

really got stuck in yesterday and already starting to look like a Tiger.

  7. Great choice of GB @Marklo and @Stef N., @PlaStix and I hosted the first Tiger GB a few years ago now. Good luck and I hope it is as successful as ours.

Here’s my entry, the RFM tiger 1 I picked the kit up second hand a while ago. Not going for a North African Tiger more an Eastern Front Tiger.

I’ve got an Eduard brass set and some very depleted Bison decals. I’ve also got a metal barrel on order. I’ve also got a diorama base cast by Marco Doeser.

quick proof of life pic, and into the build after a few hours today it’s starting to look like a Tiger. It’s gone together really well and who doesn’t like building a a Tiger Tank?

@Ozzy Mine are spaced a little differently. I remember I messed up the first version of the bomb bay and I bought another Eduard set, and with that I had enough bulkheads because they are spaced irregularly. But in any case, I ended up with 6 stations in each of the cells. I think you can tell in this photo:

I went with black on the undercarriage bays when I built mine:

    jaLeTJ4.jpg

@12jaguar from the Stirling Aircraft Project was kind enough to send me a lot of reference material which included a photo of the undercarriage bays, if I recall correctly, and there's also a photo in the Haynes' Short Stirling Owners' Workshop Manual that appears to show it was metallic - but I'm convinced they were painted black on service aircraft (like bomb bay interiors and the inside of flaps like on Wellingtons and Lancasters).

    Build thread of mine here:

great work on the Bomb bay detail, I'm going to build a Stirling later this year I was wondering how many bomb release clips are in the main bomb bay? as your picture is cut off.

    I'm planing SBC

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Really glad that you managed to get this into the gallery in time Ozzy as you have put a lot of work into this and the end result is fantastic and really captures the scene very well indeed. The painting and weathering has worked a treat and certainly given the Grant the look of a tank that has seen a fair bit of action in the harsh desert environment. Thanks for having taken part in the GB and very well done on creating such an excellent model.

    Thanks Craig,

it’s been a fantastic GB, thanks for putting it forward. Just the figures to add to bring it all together.

    happy new year 🥂

    thanks chaps,

I’ve not had much time at the beach as it’s been a busy time in the shop, today I managed to get the tank on the transporter and all cabled up with a 3 to 1 pull. I’ll add the figures in the new year.

I made it into the Gallery 🥳.

happy new year to you all.
