  1. A resin s1 bucc would be fantastic. Maybe with a Red Beard in the special recessed bomb bay insert? Only prob with an s2 is that I have about 5 Airfix ones in the stash.... A comprehensive resin update for the Airfix would be nice (although maybe that would basically just be a new kit???) I have got the Aconcagua Tucano in my stash. It's a really lovely kit. I'd imagine your market will depend on how many others have this or are able to get it. Aeroclub used to stock it, not sure if they still do.
  2. Did anyone check this out at SMW? I forgot to. I imagine it weighs a ton. Not sure I can justify it with one of their Belfast's stashed away at my parent's house out of sight of the wife but I have always fancied a 1/72 VC10....
  3. I think that's all fair comment Now, who's up for a 1/24 B-52?
  4. Well I for one didn't intend to appear rude or ungrateful in respect of Ian's efforts - and apologies to Ian if that is how it appeared. However, this is a discussion board on which the merits and downsides of all sorts of kits and other modelling stuff are discussed. Is the suggestion that posters should self-censor and only make warm fuzzy noises where the products are connected to people represented on the site, regardless of what posters think? That would be an odd result in a land of free speech.... Personally I have bought quite a bit of Ian's stuff and think it is great he does the work he does. But surely it is better for a business to know what its potentical customers are thinking? At least then they can address the issues. Personally i think that scale effects and sheer size mean shape and accuracy become harder to judge at the larger scales and what looks wrong can be right and vice versa. That's one reason why I don't like the larger scales but that's a different issue...
  5. There is a pic on the "SMW Telford Pictures" thread. I saw it on Heritage's stand and I hate to critcise given the effort that must have gone into it but I do agree that the shape looked rather iffy. But I don't get the whole thing with 1/32 and 1/24 aircraft anyway so maybe I am the wrong person to be commenting!
  6. Thanks - they are all 1/48. The Skyraider kit is the old ESCI/Ertl/AMT AD-4W. Can be found relatively cheaply on ebay. It is an old kit - raised lines, rubbish cockpit etc. but you don't notice the lack of detail so much because of the overall dark navy colour scheme. I actually have a second one of these kits and plan to do the plane using a Tamiya Skyraider and grafting on the radome etc from the Esci kit. I think that's the way forward for a good AD-4W. The dayglo is indeed a nightmare. I had to strip this model 3 times as the Revell and Humbrol dayglos were so useless. I eventually used light grey primer oversprayed with Halfords fluorescent orange. The silver is actually Halfords Audi aluminium silver! The decals are a mix of MAV's and VEG/The Aviation Shop's which I picked up in Johannesburg.
  7. Not quite to the standards of Skii etc! But I am improving. I think SAAF Harvard Fleet Air Arm AD-4W AEW Skyraider Atlas Impala II
  8. I have one although I was potentially going to use it... The kit is basically just the Mirage IIIE kit with a different nose and the IIIE kit has been reissued by Italeri. Am wondering if I might be able to cast a copy of the nose for you??? Frankly the rest of the kit is dreadful - the burner can has to be seen to be believed. A 1950s Frog would have done it better... Otherwise there is always the Fonderie Miniatures Mirage 5.
  9. All the Maintrack moulds etc were bought by the guys who do Whirlybird decals. They are rereleasing some of it. You could try and contact them maybe?
  10. 'We' only own them in the same way as 'we' own NHS hospitals or state schools. Ultimately any money that is made on the roundels goes back into central government and hopefully redces the need for further ridiculous stealth taxes (although as the cost of roundel royalties are just passed on to us as utlimate purchasers maybe this is a stealth tax on modellers and aviation enthusiasts??? I hadn't thought of that - Gordon Brown is a devious so and so...) The admirals don't need to worry as it is the MOD that owns the roundel not the RAF. And re. the artists, the MOD commissioning contracts probably provide that any intellectual property vests in the MOD and not the artists (this is what they do for patents too) The real legal scope for challenge would lie I would have thought in that trade marks are to protect commercial brands in the commercial world from rip offs, deliberate confusion etc. The RAF etc are not commercial organisations and so it is hard to see what protection they need. It is not as if someone can set up an RAF - alike and confuse the government as to which organisation it should be funding!
  11. Nice one! Am in for some of these! Btw, I note that Reheat appear to be listed as attending SMW??!!!
  12. Does anyone where (if?) it is possible to pick up some Reheat bezels? Can't find them anywhere. Not sure if Reheat still trade.
  13. Some pics are now attached above Col., the Rb04s would be £10 (I'll make a loss but more fool me for not checking how many came in the packet!) - would like someone to get some use from them Bruce
  14. Actually, if anyone wants a set of the Rb04s I have an extra set. I thought there was only missile per pack so I ordered two but you actually get two per pack (mind you, you should for the price!) so i have two spare to sell...
  15. I note that Rebell is one of the few places with Eduard 1/48 Mirage 2000 D/Ns in stock!
  16. At Mike's request please find attached a link below to Rebell Hobby in Stockholm who stock some resin goodies for the 1/48 Viggen from Dreyer Resin (which is basically a chap doing some moulding somewhere in Sweden in his spare time). Go to "Find item", then "Swedish" and then "Aircraft details 1/48". Max at Rebell is really helpful and has just had a batch delivered from Dreyer so if you get in quick he may have some left. My resin intakes and compressor fan face fit like a glove to my JA37... I couldn't resist the Rbo4 missiles for the AJ37 Viggen either. Not cheap mind you. Rebell Hobby Pics of the fan face and the Rb04 attached below: Bruce
  17. I wouldn't let it worry you as I'll probably never finish the kit anyway () and they can't possibly be worse than the resin Flightpath intakes for the Victor that I have, which appear to be made for a completely different Victor kit to the one I have... All of your caveats are taken on board. I'll drop you a message. As my wife says, my hobby is not making kits, it is collecting bizarre bits of metal and plastic that are made into kits by other people! On which subject I got a couple of various nice seamless intakes for the 1/48 Viggen from Rebell Hobby in Stockholm this week. Really nice...
  18. Also Mike I'd really like to buy a set of your resin intakes! I don't want to allow this kit to defeat me!
  19. Anyone know when it is going to be published? Amazon says end of the year but their release details are usually hopelessly out.
  20. the MoD i suppose Which is basically the RAF isn't it? I checked the trade marks registry online, and the RAF roundel is a registered trademark for quite a few things (including model kits! but not t-shirts...) and you're right it is the MOD that owns them. So I guess the RAF (via the MOD) do own the roundel. Isn't really that surprising though is it?
  21. Who do the roundels belong to then?
  22. On the assumption that the TSR2 was a commercial success (which I guess it must have been as it sold out), what about a 1/72 (as 1/48 is too much to hope for) British "what if" series rather like the Revell Luft 46 series? P1154, P1121, Avro 730, Fairey Delta III etc. Ok, I know this is never going to happen but it is nice to dream...
  23. I picked one up the other day from evil bay for £8. There is one on Buy it now for £7... Don't all rush at once...
  24. I don't believe the Kudu has ever been kitted. You can get a Bosbok in 1/72 but not a Kudu...
