  1. Does anyone know where I can get some decals for the 1435 Flight markings operating out of Mount Pleasant for a 1/48 RAF Phantom? Thks! Vlammie
  2. Oooohhh. Don't say that! I'll come over all funny just thinking about it. How cool would that be!
  3. I agree - John is a good guy. I can't wait for is Rooivalk! I also can't help but think he should partner up with someone to help make his stuff more available.
  4. I think it was some variety of Martin Baker MkIV
  5. Or a BOAC Cunard - all that glorious gold and navy blue...
  6. Jon The man to contact is Jose-Miguel Fernandez at Mirage and his email addy is: [email protected] It doesn't work out cheap with postage from Argentina (although in the UK the US$/£ exchange rate helps!) but it is a fab little kit There is a build of it in the gallery on ARC Bruce
  7. No desire to sell or trade it but will post the contact email for Mirage if you want to contact them to get one...
  8. My contenders: Uncle Les's Resin 1/72 CAC CA-23 in 1/72 - An Aussie "Whif" Mirage Resin 1/48 IAe 24 Calquin - Argentinian Mosquito-alike MSV 1/48 Pulqui II - Kurt Tank's design for the Argentine Air Force in the '50s (was probably a better aircraft than the Sabre or the MiG15!)
  9. Oooooooohhhh! They look fab. Would love some wheels, props and exhausts!!!!!!! Want to PM me a price? Btw, I haven't got the Valiant intakes yet - just wanted to check whether you had a chance to post them. I don't trust Royal Mail anymore...
  10. Crikey - I have got the Falcon vacform and was rather daunted by it. Vac propellers and wheels!!!! Think I may forget about modelling this plane for a while if the Silver Wings one is even worse....
  11. Anyone know if it is possible to get hold of this kit?
  12. Good to hear is still doing the Rooivalk - can't wait for that!
  13. Like it! I have the BaxMod Ratel 20, Casspir and Buffel in 1/35 in my stash as well as an Azmiut Eland 90 and a conversion kit for a Centurion to the Olifant 1B..... Was thinking of doing some sort of Cuito Cuanavale diorama. But then I have those Cheetahs etc to do too...
  14. Can you thin Mr Color lacquer paints with isopropyl alcohol???
  15. I should say this is about 6 months of acculmulated progress so don't hold your breath!
  16. I got the Spinners kits direct from John W, who runs the business in SA. I am not sure if he is still trading though - his email addy is [email protected] if you want to try him. I emailed him a while back about his 1/48 Rooivalk but never heard from him. Wish I had bought more stuff from him now! Erwin at Aviation Megastore stocks John's stuff but he may be out of 1/48. Also try Linden Hill as they were getting some sets in too. As to finish, I was going to do a normal Cheetah but Zane at MAV Decals is going to do a Spotty set so maybe I will have to try that.... The Cheetah is one hell of plane - check these out: And then there is indeed always Spotty:
  17. Using the Heller 1/48 Mirage III B/C: and the Spinners resin and PE conversion kit: Firstly, Heller fuselagea nd wing parts need to be cut down: Then assembled and the resin nose/cockpit piece added: Fuselage spine, resin back end and after burner and wing dog tooth inserts added: A bit of sanding, ventral ECM housing added, some more sanding down and then a quick primer coat to see how much spade work is left to do.... Answer: LOTS!!! Got to get this done as have the Spinners Cheetah D two seater to do and want to kit bash a Cheetah E and an Argentine Finger.....
  18. See the attached link. A good, compact history that includes Kfirs etc. Mirage III
  19. Phoenix - You may want to look at ebay "Resin conversion set Atar 9C for Mirage IIIC by Eduard Item number: 170166374440 "
  20. Burner cans for the IIIE/O are contained in a few conversion kits for Mirage III derivatives like the Mirage 5, Nesher, Finger, Cheetah, Pantera etc. Usually these are for the Heller Mirage IIIC kit or the Esci Mirage IIIE so not sure how they will fit the Eduard/Hobby Boss IIIC. You can try Spinners for their Cheetah conversion kit (see Linden Hill's website - they may have some left as John has stopped producing and they are sold out pretty much everywhere else) or Eagle Designs (Eagle Designs), who may sell you a burner can and back end alone. I don't know if High Planes do any burner cans in 1/48 but you could try them too - they at least do some bang seats for the IIIO. In addition to the length, I think you may need to adjust the intakes too. Not sure about this but I thought the intakes on IIIO were larger in the same way as on the two seat IIIB.
  21. SAAF colours are very hard to get right as they didn't use the FS or BS colour numbering systems. The green is basically olive drab with a brownish tint (also Humbrol French Artillery Green is very close). The sand brown is hard to do as the colour is called 'deep buff' (and it is definitely not sand!) and no model paint manufacturer does this. I am told that the closest match is to mix 5 parts of Tamiya buff with 4 parts of Tamiya orange, although I haven't yet tried this myself. Humbrol 63 is an alternative. The underside grey is similar to Light Aircraft Grey (FS 36495), but with a minute dash of blue added.
