Hello all,
This is my first build in your forum, the beautiful Eduard's MiG-21SMT. I love soviet cold war aircraft and the MiG-21 is with the MiG-27 one of my favorite soviet airplane.
The kit is really wonderful, with a lot of details, photo etched parts, resin parts and excellent decals, as always with Eduard and every piece fit together easily.
For the paint scheme, I'm a big fan of camouflaged aircrafts but this time, I want to make a good old full "soviet aluminum" cold war fighter if you know what I mean
So, let's start!
First the box art, I love it, it shows pretty well the "beast aspect" of this version with his big fuselage
Then some pieces of the cockpit. The photo etched parts look great, I just added some brilliant gloss on the instruments.
I don't know how many piece there were just for the seat, but I can tell you there were a lot!
There are even stencils
I also painted the radar, I will mask it then, it will be easier than paint it when it's closed. I also added weight in it.
Here is the full fuselage.
Closer view on the cockpit
I didn't expect a Fishbed is so big!
Last view of the cockpit, we won't see anything then:
Now, I finished the wings, the beast is nearly ready for paint, I'll send you some more pics next week.
I will make two of these Fishbed. This one will be in natural aluminum with everything closed and straight from the box. The second one will be camouflaged with some add ons and even doors opens (it will probably be a MiG-21MF from East-Germany)
